  • Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein, accompanied by his daughter Talia, sings "Hamalach Hagoel." Translated as "The Angel Who Redeems," it is a traditional Jewish blessing for children, taken from Genesis 48:16. Hebrew and English lyrics appear onscreen with photos of Jewish babies at their naming ceremonies.
The photos in this video were taken at the following shuls: (in order) Magen Hassidin Synagogue, Mumbai, India; Jewish Cultural Center, Hamelin, Germany; Kingston Liberal Synagogue, London, England; West Point Military Academy Chapel, Highlands, New York; and a temple in St. Louis, Missouri.
    V'shem avotai Avraham v'Yizchak v'yidgu larov b'kerev ha'aretz.
    The blessing in English:
May the angel who redeems me from all harm bless these children. May they carry on my name and the names of my fathers, Abraham and Isaac, and may they grow into a multitude on earth.
