- Prophet Remark Row: The diplomatic offensive by Arab nations over the former BJP leader Nupur Sharma's alleged Prophet remarks continues as the UAE, Jordan and Indonesia joined a long list of Islamic nations expressing denunciation and rejection of insults to the founder of Islam.
Legal Scholar F Mustafa said, "71 countries have blasphemy laws. IPC did not originally had 295 (A) If more and more people are punished under 153(A) it would have the desired results."

Should blasphemy even be a thing in a liberal democracy?
Religion is a set of beliefs and beliefs by definition are subjective opinions. Why should any person be legally forced to respect someone else’s opinions in a free democratic society? It’s a very undemocratic thing to do. That’s why there is no place for blasphemy laws in a free democratic society.
Exactly. Is Scientology protected also? Who decides which religions are protected under this law?
@@nikhilreddy8550 Well said. Unfortunately most of the people in India are living in a bubble. They’ve no clue about the philosophy behind free speech and the repercussions of restricting free expression in a free democratic society which India is supposed to be. What makes it even more sad is the fact that even most Hindus support blasphemy laws despite the fact that these things have always been discussed in Indic philosophies (darshans) and religions.

OIC and Muslim Countries biased reaction on the Nupur's comment is a blunt denial of the dignity and respect to other faiths of the world. When you insult the symbols of an age old religion sarcastically, reaction is unavoidable.

Blasphemy is a law of the disbelievers. Let me explain. When a person defames God, it is against God and God is the only person to take action against it. No other person has any locus standii to act on behalf of God as God is Omnipotent and He/She has the ability and power to take action. If God does not exist but is man- made, naturally He being man made will have no power to take action. In such a case, Man is only required to take action on behalf of God. Whatever is man made, Man has locus standii to protect it but God is not man-made and arguably we are God-made. Therefore, we have no locus standii to act on behalf of our creator. Therefore when we act on behalf of God we prove that God is man-made.

Defamation and Hate Speech is so closely related that no can even describe the difference in a courtroom scenario. There should be laws against blasphemy law.

Islam was invented by the middle east nomadic desert forefather Arabs. It is THEIR indigenous religion, and suitable for the middle east Arabs to believe in it.
While the non-arabic or other creeds worldwide have their own original beliefs or religions - shall NOT believe & follow Islam because it was NOT invented by their creeds' great forefathers, Cultures & Civilizations.
To do so is a traitor - to insult their very OWN great ancestors, ancestral beliefs system, culture, customs, traditions, heritage, histories and civilization are INFERIOR to the olden, crude & less civilized middle east quarrelsome Arabs, right?
Likewise, the same for Christianity is for the "white" creeds, other non-white people worldwide should NOT embrace it at all!
