    I'm from INDIA.
We have a mango tree at our back yard. I've spent hours observing these weavers troop, & found these soldiers can literally see you (from a specific distance). Whenever I pointed out my finger couple of ants used to be alert and followed my fingers like they're looking straight into the fingers eye and warning it.
    .
These weavers ants are much different than the common black ants in our field and the garden.
These troops are so alert that, they'll quickly notice you if you go closer to them/ any one of them.
I mean to say that some of you might have noticed that any one can literally touch any other black ant, whether they are working in line or going somewhere in search of something, black ants doesn't show any reaction until and unless it is touched. They even don't notice until something disturbs them.

I lived in Thailand for a while…I don’t know if these are the same ants that one day got on my bath towel, but it was like being bitten by the smallest, spiciest chili pepper in the known universe. The ant was about as wide as a very small toast crumb and as long as a short eyelash, nearly clear with a faint red hue, and the eight bites I garnered that day left me in pain for at least a week. Nightmare!

Their grubs can be sold at relatively high price. I'm not sure about other countries, but last time I was there, it was at least 400 baht per kilogram in Thailand. The "Premium" ones are like 1,000.
You may be wondering, why would someone want to eat ants. People in some parts struggled a lot with droughts in the past, so they had to live on whatever they could find, from tiny bony lizards to ants.
