    Ian, former Toyota Master Tech here. Did you know that the 4th gen 4runner was available with a 2UZ and the engine compartment and whole front half of the frame are identical? Knowing this now, would you have looked for one of those for a parts vehicle? The oil pan from that would have fit as well as your A/C and P/S lines without pricey custom work. There's a good chance those motor mounts would have fit too. You'd still need the bellhousing adaptor/flywheel setup you got, but there would be a bunch more compatible parts that would swap over from the 4runner.

    • @BigTireGarage
      @BigTireGarage  Год назад +19

      Yes I did learn that...I looked at the 4Tunnrr pan...but finding one was hard...and then finding one for a parts vehicle I think would actually be more expensive than the swap using the Tundra. I love the idea and if I could of found one I would of bought it

    As a person that builds “import” engines for a living I can attest to the fasteners not all being common lengths on a component.
    Some fasteners are not only unique in length but also in diameter as well when you consider the 7mm bolts used to fasten the camshafts in.
    Wrong bolts installed isn’t just an issue while working on an engine after the fact like you are Ian. It can still happen in the factory.

    WOW! That’s awesome! I know you have forgotten more about cars than I will ever know. But I do know a little about Toyotas. If it were me, I would lose that K&N intake. Use factory TRD. Also, only use Toyota coolant, oil filters, oil. Those 2UZ’s are designed for that. It will do much better. Just my thoughts. But that is awesome! I love you did that! There is another channel where Sarah n Tune is swapping a 2UZ into a Celica! Pretty cool stuff!

    Shift, I just might start wearing my hair that way, too!

    Great Content Ian as usual!!! I like to twist my wires together after running thru a solder connector, then pull the solder connector back over it. Adds a bit of strength as you have the twisted connection plus the solder band. Great Product, has made wiring a much easier, one of those break thru products if you ask me. Great Swap and Build Series!!!!

    The "Million Mile" V8 in a 2nd Gen Taco, sounds like what should've been a factory option.
    I also noticed the frame on that Taco is in pretty rough shape, I hope it'll handle that extra weight and power.
