3 years later and I'm glad this video exists - thank you so much!
Same for me!
100% agree!
Best video I've seen about Kick 2. Too bad there isn't more new content.
Hi there, I'm the tutor here! I'm making new form of content now but considering dedicating some time to music tech tutorials as well.
Thank you very much for your quick reply. If I have understood you correctly. Can I expect you to upload something here on this channel, possibly even with Kick 3 and in the near future?
These are the most complete and best explained tutorials on kick drums and Kick 2 ever.
Terrific well done.
Even compression and limiting was expertly explained
Best Kick Synth tutorial ever!
Thank you so much sphyrnidae!
@@complxmotion When will you do the next vids for this series?
Soundflow Music Academy do you know when the next video is out?
It is not an overview. It is a first class tutorial on Kick 2. Thank you for that!
Not only a great kick tutorial, but also the best explanation of phase cancellation and how it affects the physical speaker.
Brilliant tutorial. The phase cancellation explanation is fantastic too.
never seen so much positive feedback on a youtube video. and i have to agree with it. great job
AMAZING educational video man. Maybe the best I have seen for this tool. Only thing to add would be timestamps for each feature you cover. Thank you!
I'm learning producing now for a few month, since I signed up for one of those Music Production Courses. The content in these courses is really helpful. But this tutorial, you have created here, is by far the most helpful and detailed explanation I've seen so far. All those Kick Drum guides included in the course I booked, are not even close to what you have done here. Of course they explained, that the Kick consists of three parts and how important those parts are or what range of frequency they cover. But the beauty and dedication you put into explaining it in detail is quite impressive. Thank you!
Do you know when you will do the next part of this series, already? Can’t sleep anymore without completing it 😊
Recently I’ve been geeking out analyzing kick waves with scopes and realized just how critical the pitch changes are to the final product and style. I knew of Kick 2 already just hadn’t gotten the time to evaluate it. Once I checked it out I was thrilled to see it’s just about exactly what I wanted.
One slightly weird thing, though, is that the envelopes don’t line up with the wave. I’d like to see an option for that direct visual connection between the node points of the envelope and the wave.
Overall I love this synth - great vid!
Kick 2 was a game changer. This tutorial is 👍
I learned enough before the 6 minute mark to make the kick I've been looking for. Thanks for this!
Hands down the best tutorial videos i watch on you tube thanks so much you've helped my production in a big was i watch all your videos in the studio on my laptop and go along with everything on my studio PC . After watching this video I've started my first track where I've made the kick on KICK 2 and having so much more control over shaping the sound and also being able to automate the settings to create builds and move things about when and if you want is amazing and i dont think ill be searching for kick samples anymore . KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK .
It's such a powerful tool. would love to hear what you've done when its finished!
@@complxmotion this is the video when i first made the drums after watching your video - so helpfull your videos are the best

Awesome tutorial!
One of the best tutorials for a plugin that I've ever watched. So well explained & easy to listen to! I've had Kick 2 for ages but never really used it, just stuck to the trusted samples I have saved. After watching this, I feel like I know the plugin inside out now & feel inspired to use it! Thanks!
It’s super powerful and such a breeze to use
Needed this info. Thank you
Thank you so much for this!! incredible guide

Amazing Tutorial!
Awesome tutorial! Really comprehensive, useful and easy to understand! This is definitely for all those who want to shape their sound in a very unique way. Thanks a lot for this!
Excellent Kick 2 tutorial. Thanks.
Excellent tutorial! Thanks for doing this.
Hi, thanks, great video!
Wow, that was absolutely fascinating and a very detailed explanation of what you can do in Kick2 - but done in a very clear and easy to understand way (I am grateful for the explanation of what a compressor does too). Thank you.
Really truly helpful. Thank you. You went right to the details I needed to know; was able to apply some nice changes to my kick for a final mix. Excellent instruction here.
incredible: great tutorial.
Glad you liked it! Kick 2 is Amazing!!
Thanks!
great informative video! :) one Q around key tracking @39:00 would i want to set C1 as the note of BOTH the start AND end of the "release" portion of the sound?? not just the final note it eventually resolves to?
Where can i find the Music production Course where you talk about During the part of Compression ? Thanks in advance.
Fantastic tutorial! really well explained
Hi, was there a video about kick2 and analysing kicks from other tracks and emulate them in kick2?
This is great I find I'm obsessed with tweaking kicks. I'm going to buy kick 2 it's too bad there's no affiliate link.
Great video!!!!! Thank you!
What a brilliant video and theres me who liked using the gabbermaster when making.classic hardcore terror speedcore doomcore my tracks are based on the 90.s era but mainly on the real dark tip im defo thinking i need to start using a programme like this for my 909 kicks im impressed by the kick and you telling and.showing the different bits to a kick and what gives it a real punch in the first place 👍
excellent. thank you
Hi, I'm using Logic Pro X and the version of Kick 2 I have has a "sidechain" function on the top right. How is this used exactly? Thank you so much for your help!
शानदार
Thank you very much
This program is really cool.
The issue in this program is that we can't mimic the real 808 kick lick.
The real one starts with a fast but curved single half-cycle but Kick 2 can not easily mimic that because it seems to presume that every kick needs a dozen cycles in that transient region.
So if you try to design that too simple 808 kick click you'll notice that it's almost impossible...
Kick 2 is a great tool!
A bit hard to deal when trying mimic a kick but a great kick synth, maybe the best one.
Hey you said you would do an R&B kick overview and I cant find it on your channel, is it available? Sorry to be a bother
THank you VERY much!
is any "Part 2" of this?
Well, after a month, I assume that there's not.
...or, maybe, a paid one, even for those that paid for the plugin.
Is it possible to automate these kick notes through an ppossible way in ableton live ?
11:00 not necessarily...I mean it depends on the genre of music you are making. IDM kickdrums for example often have a notable pitch sweep and in Flashcore one of the main characteristics is kicks with very pronounced pitch sweep.

This tutorial is great for a beginner as my self! xD Thanks a lot! I have one question tho, about the neutron compressor when you sumerize at 44:12. "If the signal is below the threshold, the compressor kicks in" Why do you say below? Isn't it above threshold? Please explain :)
Thanx for this helpful video! Your voice oddly reminds me of Sir Patrick Stewart :D
Waiting on Part 2.

How do we know the note of sample
Hello,
I really enjoy your content.
I have a question: what about converting Kick 2 midi to audio ? I have an issue which cause my .wav file to loose most energy of my kick.
Do you know what is the origin of this issue ?
Best regards
Sounds like your not maximizing the velocity setting on export. You're not actually losing energy, just volume. Just turn it up a little bit, that's what I've found :)
8:02 you can just draw your own harmonics by clicking on the bars
This video badly needs timestamps

I am sound and sample designer can I use this for sculpt any sound and frequencies?
I don`t want to sound rude but it just feels really weird that a sound designer would ask such a question... But to answer your question - no you can`t use this plugin to sculpt whatever sound you want. As the name implies it`s specifically aimed at programing kicks. You need a synth plugin in order to design more versatile sounds. Subtractive synths are the most "basic" ones but will sill get you pretty far. Wavetable is more complex same goes for FM, additive and modular. A lot of DAWs have some or all of these synths as native plugins. With paid plugins ofc you can get synths that combine several or all types of synthesis. They will cost you quite a lot some are actually more expensive than most DAWs.
Vital is a free plugin that came out a couple of ears ago and has become one of the most popular and widely used soft synths and for a good reason at that. Just look up sound design tutorials of ppl using it here on youtube and you`ll see what it is capable of (assuming you aren`t using it already that is.)
Now they need to make snare vst
nice video, if there would be a button to spend 1dollar i would click it twice
Yeah this is cute and everything but like ... where tf is tempo sync? Kind of a HUGE compromise when I can't properly making the right lenght...
This week Part2?
Let's hope
Part 2 and Part 3 are now up! ruclips.net/video/6asmWcoRh3k/видео.html
