Confirming that the Greek translation is accurate. Thank you again for one more great tutorial and for all you do for the excel and the entire business community!!
@@LeilaGharani Greek here Leila. Actually the translation is not 100% accurate. It translated the "It's great that you stay up to date" as "It's great to stay up to date". It gave the word "να", instead of the correct "που". This changes the meaning from actually "targeting" the audience, to a more generic form, an observation you'd say. Nevertheless, knowing that Greek is not the easiest language on the planet, this is still a big step for 365. Cheers and thanks!
This formula will help me a lot. Right now in order to automate the translation in a file I have created a mapping from english to Greek which is massive. Thnx Leila :)
Absolutely brilliant - I can’t believe it has taken Microsoft this long to introduce this function. I will be using it to help with me studying Portuguese
@@manosvenianakis9323 you peaked my interest ;-) how would you go about using ChatGPT for language learning in the most automated and productive manner?
That is pretty cool. I just hope that the TRANSLATE function is added to Excel 365 for Mac pretty quickly. [EDIT] It came in this morning so, very nice!
As always you show us the best of new functions in a very clear way. The question I was asking myself was.... "What if I don't know what source language is?" The text I will translate is in A1, C3 has the language I want the formula to translate, and sheet2 b2:b10 has the table of languages. The answer I came up with is this: =TRANSLATE($A21,DETECTLANGUAGE($A21),XLOOKUP(C$3,Sheet2!$A$2:$A$10,Sheet2!$B$2:$B$10)) Did I forgot to say I'm your fan?
You're The Best in the world👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I wish I could use excel like you do😅 Constantly learning from you, keep up the great work😍😍😍 Thanks for sharing👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great video. In your last formula, I had an idea that Instead of Xlookup and checking against other ranges, you could have used the switch function, that way you don't need the languages and codes in other cells. But that would probably only be beneficial when you only have a handful of languages. Xlookup would probably work better if you want to have an updateable language list.
Amazing function thanks Leila, also can we have a seriece of sessions about Macro learning, i am exited and realy need Macro in my job, but do not have the foundation to start.
Yay! so excited for this to come to Excel so I don't have to go over to google. I use this for translating survey questions/outlines to import into Forms. Hopefully one day, Forms will do the auto translating for me!
So cool. Before watching this video, I just know use translation machine like Google Translate or Immersive Translate to help me translate what I need. But now, I have known a new tool to help me translate Excels. Thanks for your sharing ❤.
Another awesome video! Thank you Professor Gharani! I honestly don’t know how I’ve managed my Excel production for so long without your expertise, clarity in explanations, and incredible insights and tips! Thank you truly!
There are three (3) points I will ask you about. My version of Office is the latest version 2024: 1- How do I get a “translate”? She doesn't exist 😮 2- Also, the new “Check Box” does not exist 🤔 3- In the latest update to Office, an icon disappeared. This icon is at the top next to Exit, which collapses the top menus to enlarge the workspace. It has three options and looks like an arrow, as I remember. It is very important. Why did it disappear? ✨ ................................................................................................ There is another topic regarding delaying the function. I asked you about it and you answered that by using VBA, I wanted to do without VBA. I wish this task existed in Excel without Vba 🤩🤗
Is this only for Enterprise customers? I am on the version you list in the description and in the Beta Channel. Also will this feature work offline? Thanks for this video. It's great.
Leila thanks so much for your very helpful videos, I've been trying to set a formula in excel 365 to return last selling price of each product for each customer to be used for their returned items, can you help me? bearing in mind that each product has various selling prices based on customer and selling date.
Translation of acronyms??? For example, SWOT = Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. What about a dictionary of proprietary abbreviations / acronyms? And going between languages? I deal with this on an almost daily basis for work (foreign automaker + 2nd country foreign supplier, both in yet another country). I’m interested in seeing this work!
Good video and demonstration of the new functions. But I’d rather have full (dynamic) array support in all functions, including in data validation and conditional formatting. That’s a repeat statement, I know. ;-)

if it is a living document where team members are inputting information into the spreadsheet, in order for the translation to continue working, would they have to input it in the hidden cells where the text lives? Or can they put it where the translated part is displaying?
Some programming systems allow the usage of lookup tables for localization. Each row would have the text to show in the relevant button or window, and each column would have the translation for the enduser's selected language. Is there a way to have placeholders that should not be translated besides using quotes, such as [COMPANY NAME]?

Dear Leila, I have a problem with Pivot Table. Every Month I update the header of resource, my Pivot Table resume usually disappear and I have to move header I want to make resume into sum column on the bottom right column. The trick I do is to make second row as template and first row as header I can change every month. I never change the second row. And I insert one line in the top of Pivot and I make a formula connected to header I want to change. If you have alternate trick, please to let me know. Thank you so much Sorry, if my question is not related to your content
I think there is issue when use translate function to translate date, even the cell in date format, translate function will change it to value I mean if S6 = 1-Jul-2024 (date format) and when TRANSLATE(TEXT($S$6,"en","ar") the result is 45484. I fix this issue by using text function for example =TRANSLATE(TEXT($S$6,"dd mmm yyyy"),"en","ar") I assume S6 = 1-Jul-2024 conclusions translate function lead to mute format text
It’s counterproductive and counterintuitive that MS privileges 365 in their marketing strategies, but take a long time to roll out innovations and new functions into the 365 version. Hopefully the function will be rolled out sooner than later.
Thanks very much for the video! I have been waiting for this function for longtime. I just checked my Excel 360, the function is not there yet, does it release to public?
With machine translation, there is of course the risk of hidden errors, but compared to having to maintain multiple sets of the same text, the benefits probably outweigh the downside.
