- I was challenged by the Finnish synth god Kebu to take on the Fantom 4x4x4 Challenge. Such an honor!
• Kebu takes on the Fant...
The goal of the challenge is to create a song in 4 minutes, using 4 chords and 4 vintage synthesizer model expansions for the Roland Fantom.
JUPITER-8, JUNO-106, JX-8P and SH-101.
It is a really fun exercise and I welcome you all to give it a try and be a part of this movement!

Great work man..! you created a beautiful highway full of palms.
Haha! That was actually one of my inner visions when doing this :-)
Miami vice or Knight Rider but with even more palm trees. 🌴🌴🦩🌴🚗🌴
Glad it was heard!
Great job! You got much further than I did AND you remembered to jam at the end! Something I completely forgot to do... :D
Well, got carried away and hadn't really planned an ending :-)
Kebu, all of you did an amazing job on this challenge. I play synth and guitar in our 80s hair band. I use a Roland JX3P and an Ensoniq ESQ1 and I doubt that I could have come close to doing what you guys did, at least not in 4 minutes. All are very well done.
Agreed Kebu
Kebu, I liked your video too. It was very interesting to see your working progress. Both videos are amazing and inspiring!
I hope you will come to Switzerland one day for a live perfomance. I would be in the audience, that's for sure!
You both rock!!
Back again, still sounds great compared to todays standards if not better than. I'm always a fan of great performances!!
Ludvig, this was fantastic, all around. Please turn this into a full song! Also, would love to get the details on that lead, reminds me of... like classic demoscene tracks, can't put my finger on the exact one I'm thinking of, but back in the .s3m / .mod days there was a tracker musician (Purple Motion maybe?) that used a very similar lead in a song. So good!
I had a listen to Purple Motion just now. I wasn't really aware of Jonne Valtonen but I can hear the similarites. I did play a lot of computer games back in the day but I was never on the Amiga team. Sinclair Spectrum -> Atari ST -> IBM PC background here. I guess this jam was influenced by growing up in the 80's :-)
I'll create a video about this lead sound and share it, at some point.
Thanks!
@@LudvigOlin ZX Spectrum! ❤
That synth jam at the end was awesome. Total amiga MOD vibes too
THAT WAS GREAT !!! fancy 80s synts jam always THUMBS UP
Ooh, this is so cool! And you definitely got ALL the right sounds! Also, totally agree about the JP-8 envelopes! 😎
I really really really love this! Fantastic work, well done. 👍👍
My favorite so far. I like Dr. Mix's version- but this, to me, feels so much more 80's. Nice jam at the end.
Thank you!
True! Reminds me of the good ol' Amiga-Times. Sound quite a bit like Chris Huelsbeck in some aspects :)
maybe 80s, but you are keeping daft punk alive here
Haha! Thanks! Now, where is my helmet :-)
WOW! This is the most greatest song in this 4x4x4 Challenge. It feels so good!
Thanks a lot! Happy to make you feel good :-)
Great! Sounds amazing!
this is the best thing I have heard...the best 80's tech miami night vibes..

I love this! Makes me want a Fantom for those 80's sounds!
I'd love a full track of the bit where you jammed with a proper ending! Great work!

I really enjoyed your song. Youngr's and yours are the two I prefer in this challenge. Bravo !
Oh! Now that's a nice comment. Thanks a lot! I also enjoyed Yongr's performance.
What a great job! I could listen to this the whole day! One of the best 4x4x4 Fantom Challenge at all!!
Thanks a lot! Maybe I should release some 80's style music on Spotify at some point ...
@@LudvigOlin please, do it! Hehe
Ай да Людвиг! Ай удивил! Отличный трек! Назад в 80-е.
Большое спасибо!
A masterpiece song 😎🎶🎵👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks a lot! Amazing to see how universal music is, all over the planet.
Absolutely fabolous! And the speed you got to this was just amazing. Just wished I knew my way around my Roland FA as well :)
Thanks! I had a FA-07 before. For me the key to speedy recordings with that was using Loop mode and keeping the sequencer playing and go to "Rehersal mode" (pressing REC again if I remember correctly) while switching Part or Tone.
DUDE !!!! Tha last melody was phenomenon .... So beautiful ! WOW .... I got goose bump ! LOL
Thanks a lot!
Amazing!!!! Love it....!!!!!
Dude this was insane! Awesomee
Thanks a lot!
Definitely my favourite of all the 4x4x4 challenges. The lead jam at the end really sets it apart from the rest. Well done! PS. As someone else requested, if you could export a midi file of the performance and post a link to it, it might end up teaching a lot more of us how to create an amazing song.
Thanks a lot! I'll look into that.
Whahooo. I watch something like 20 videos of this Roland Fantom 4x4x4 challlenge, and for me you're definitively the best of the show.
SO : 4x4x4 thumbs up.
You deserve a lot more of like and suscribe.
Love from France.
Chris.
4x4x4x big thanks from Sweden!
One of the best results in this challenge! Cool!

U are the Winner of this Challenge ! As Kebu I think this is a big great job ... Thx
Oh! Thanks for that nice comment!
I love this. Been watching loads of people doing the 444 challenge. Your jam at the end is fantastic. Please post up an extended version 🙏 😊
Thank you! Seem like I have to make this into a proper song at some point :-)
Definitely. I loved it. Please do 😁😁
such a great sound, well done!!
Thanks a lot!
That workflow was sick! You just sold the hell out of this synth!
Normally I don't stop the sequencer this much, and I would have created more parts and used Group Play if I were not limited to 4 mins. But I really love the fact that I can sketch something out really fast with this monster.
@@LudvigOlin well, I've just subbed! Hope to see more jams and the group play you mentioned. Peace man!
Genio!!!🎉🎉🎉
Awesome - sounds great 👌🤩
Thanks a lot!
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! So coooooool. Good Job!

awesome, the retro vhs video quality matches the 80s music perfectly!
Haha! Yes, I still have some work to do to reach the level of your work, my friend! But, until I got my lights and cameras fixed that'll be the plan :-)

@@LudvigOlin I'm going to remove my 444xChallenge video! :-D
😱😱 very good !
Thanks!
Kebu commented?? Wow! No idea what the connection is besides this challenge, but I noticed u have less than 100 subbers and only 3 videos?? After seeing this video and your creativity with these new mods, I'm hoping that more videos will appear. Soon. Haha! Subbed and waiting. :)
Thanks for the encouragement!
I’ve been playing a lot “in the real world” but haven’t been that frequent on RUclips before. I do really enjoy the direct feedback you get over here, so I will consider doing some more stuff here moving on forward.
Merci 🙏
Detta var det bästa jag hört på länge! Jag önskar jag kunde spela som du Lundvig!
Tack, det var vänligt skrivet av dig!
Nice!
I'm late to the party, but figured I would just say this was a fantastic track you built in four minutes. Incredible to see a good musician put the Fantom through it's paces.
Yep, he never practiced before hand
@@SunlightOfTheSpirit I am not saying he didn't practice before hand. It's just impressive he put that track together in that amount of time. Has nothing to do with him practicing it before hand or not lol
@@biggiesmalls7939 track is the best one I’ve heard of the 444 challenges.
I love this
Thanks!
Amazing melody
This is the next level!
Thank you!
@@LudvigOlin I would like to encourage you to make more videos. I keep watching this video again and again.
