Hi, im currently replacing the wheel studs on my 2006 jeep commander and I had a few questions. I had issues with properly tightening the wheel, so i was wondering what torque specs do you use to tighten the lug nuts on the wheel. From what I'm reading its about 95-100. Also I've been looking for the torque specs for the caliper bracket and from your video it looks like you have it at 125 if that's correct?
This is an awesome. Video. Sadly 3/4 of my rotors were frozen/rusted on. Yes, I removed the o-ring which is on a new set. I was able to get 1 of the 3 off using a bolt and nut washer plunger onto the back of the rotor (google stuck brake rotors, lots of videos). I tried the hammer/pb blaster and almost bought a gear puller. Don't do that! Just use the bolt from the back trick. That trick works great. Requires a bolt, two washers, and two nuts. Install washers and nuts between rotor and the caliper bracket. Tighten till you pop off the rotor. Unfortunately I overflowed the reservoir after doing all the pads. I took off the cap as instructed. Little worried about that. I don't know how much leaked out. My plan is just to suck out of the reservoir down to the fill level and call it good for now. Drove it around....seems fine, except for a squeak while letting off lightly on one of the new pad/rotor combos. I'm hoping its just new pad on rotor. If it doesn't wear in, I'll check it out in a couple days. Used the max advanced brakes recommended. Worked great. 2006 V8 Jeep Commander. Hardest parts for a beginner DIYers. Getting the rotor bolts out on the front....you'll need a breaker bar and getting the stuck rotors off. Also, getting the new caliper with pads onto the rotor requires the piston to be fully! depressed. You'll need that c-clamp! I feel there is a directionality to the brake pads, L/R sets. Don't freak if you can't get them in, check your other set. Hope my overflow isn't catastrophic. So I ended up with 4 new pads and 2 new rotors (back) for now.
I love the video but you might want to remind them that the front rotors and back rotors are different. For first timers they need to ask which ones are fronts and which ones are back rotors when they purchase them.👍
I must be doing something very wrong since every video shows 'just sliding the pads in' yet i had to force the front one in, and the back one is literally like too tall to fit so no matter what i do it wont 'slide in'. Yet the pads are all the same size including the old ones. Smh typical
@@barricadegarage5361 So in other words im screwed. yay lol. As if the job couldn't get any worse. The pistons are cracked on the sides by about an inch, one of the guide pins rubber boot is gone and the whole pin is rust welded in the caliper. I don't even want to look at the other side xd
That was the FIRST TIME I ever saw someone push back the caliper pistons like that, COOL!! I am definitely going to try that the next time!

Lol trying to do this with 136k miles damn bracket won't come off. Are they reverse threaded like the caliper bolts? Right to loosen?
No its left to loosen, you may need a. Breaker bar or longer ratchet for more leverage

+TheAverageGuy my torque specs come from the factory service manual. The lug nuts should be torqued anywhere from 90 to 120 ft lbs

Aftermarket pads may look the same but have varying thickness
