@@MisterMilk123 Well the updates were fire! Everyone was always so happy, but the game was falling off because a feature called boxes were removed (loot boxes) in favour of a system where we can choose everything we want. Many kids left one star reviews hating how they couldn't open boxes, so we ended up with starr drops. The game after that blew up, like it was really odd. Features like masteries, bling (which was the first time f2p players could get tonnes of skins for free without giving up progression) and choice based progression was not bringing in new players. The devs on their podcast showed data around this, very interesting. If I had to put it one way it was confusing, everything was going well yet at the same time it was falling apart. Also to clean this up for new player Supercell games work in teams, Clash Royal is a completely different team to the brawl team. The devs are awesome and care so much about the game giving up so much time to make sure everything is as good as they can make it for now. I mean the CR team would never reimburse players with coins (yes there was an update where we all got around 300k coins for the average player, thats why content creators have so many coins)
@@Speedix064 I like how you didn't mention the absolute abomination that were gears when they were first released or any time a brawler apocalypse happened. Game was unplayable during those times
@@mrult28 Power 11 and gears were bad at first I agree, but the devs didn't need to reimburse everyone with coins. Also some of the apocalypse were really fun, just look at when Mico came out that was so funny!
4:40 The Brawl Pass a year ago was actually much more different. It would last for 2 months, would give the Chromatic Brawler of the season and cost 169 Gems. The Free Pass would give you 90 gems so you could buy every other Brawl Pass. (Chromatics were an old Rarity like Super Rare and Epic for Brawlers) There were so many things removed in one year that most people don't even know about.
@@jonesynite2484 to be honest I think most people know about brawl boxes, especially after all of the recent events that mentioned them existing in the past. Even me, who didn't play BS until 2023, have always known about the boxes
I understand why they made it real money exclusive, the game was probably not getting in enough cash and the exclusive pass doesn't have any important thing you can't get playing f2p
4:23 it used to be this way, the pass cost 169 gems and you got half of it back. The problem, however, is that you couldn't use gems for everything else, so they changed it so that you would get as many rewards if you bought it every other time on the free version, and added a paid version.
Started playing brawl stars in 2019 Its genuinely very fun but also could be annoying somrtime like during masters push or tier max push Toy story collab is also really good , i love the names
I really liked watching this video! I’ve been playing Brawl Stars on and off since the global release, and it’s cool to see the game become so mainstream! Despite the stupid early access offers with broken brawlers, it seems like the devs truly care about the game. I’ve never seen a more open and transparent dev team for a game like this. What other dev team has a podcast to explain design decisions? Also, about Charlie being one of the worst characters in the game, she actually used to be really strong for a while. She released about a year ago and was comically overpowered, because putting enemies into a cocoon which they can’t break out of is just broken on a fundamental level. In the updates that followed, Supercell nerfed her damage, range, unload speed, super decay, super projectile speed, super charge rate (twice), star power and gadget (also twice), which kind of killed her. They’re slowly buffing again, but have to be really careful since a brawler like this can easily break the game.
I was also surprised to see it blow up recently since I played it back in early 2019 when matchmaking even on low trophy brawlers took ages. But it’s nice to see it get popular!!
I was playing brawl starts on the first day of Global. I have seen the game change so much. Boxes, Brawler Specific Power Points, not being in Coin Debt, Chromatic Rarity Brawlers, the old Gears system, etc. It’s interesting to see Brawl Stars in the eyes of a player who has never experienced the Edgar-pocalypse. Keep it up dude!
1:10 it's because they ruined matchmaking and now only brawler trophies counts, not overall trophies so new players gets to meet new broken brawlers at the beginning of their journey. It's not the only issue but most recognizable for me
It's the opposite for me. Before the rework I was always facing players with fame and mastery rank with brawlers under 800 trophies which was so unfair. That was cuz it was based on ur overall trophies (i just hit 30k and the matchmaking became hell). After the trophy rework the matchmaking is decided by the trophies on ur brawler who you're currently playing with. Which is defo more fair. He was right saying the brawl players don't like free stuff
It makes it better for veterans but it has a harsh difficulty spike for new players. It's honestly not that bad though and will just lead to newer players getting better faster and an overall healthier experience
i remember seeing old ads in 2017 (like that one where spike could talk) but never playing the game bc i was a stupid little pvzheroes addict. Fast forward to 2023 and this is one of my favourite mobile games
Great video! It’s always interesting to see the opinions of new brawl stars players in fact it’s hard to find an actual review of brawl stars outside the App Store, but you made a good one

Been playing since 2020, the reason they blow up early this year cuz the devs actually listen. tho it had its own down, back in 2021 updates were lackluster usually new brawler, environment and thats all and then November update hit. Gear and power 11, gear were incredibly p2w, as they needed their own currency to unlock also to upgrade them you need other currency and for f2p they really cant get gears and worst the devs said they wont be fixing it as they think its fine. 2022 arrived, and the game started dying. Summer update sucked with absolutely trash brawler (otis, the pass brawler also back then you can buy brawl pass with gems, tho they changed it to cost real money but f2p progression was buffed and now you can spend your gems elsewhere). Then they finally listened, and gave us roadmap and acknowledged that they messed up so they reworked gear to be like now, compensated gears GENEROUSLY (like really i got 77k coins from the compensation) then the next update they removed brawl boxes and introduced credits and starr road (back then there was no early access and need to pray to rng god to unlock your fav brawler). The next updates were good, mastery and bling updates tho it didnt keep up the hype and playerbase just fell. The starr drops update saw a rise but fell again, next update added Hypercharges and it was falling off. They reworked club league and added mega pig next update and the season brawler was charlie, (last season to buy w gems and also did you know charlie was absolutely busted like she could be best brawler of all time, like she was meta queen for 6 months even with 12 nerfs). It was until they did events, shooting starr drops event, where brawl saw uprise. They continued with the trend reworking old stuff and more events and it worked. In 2024, the game popped off, the game got its new peak in players, even higher peak than that off 2020 (lockdown time) and what did they do? Special time limited event sprinkled with reworking old features (like reworking power league to be ranked and other stuff. They added literally no permanent new features, then the collabs like godzilla happened only boosting, another event, spongebob collab, another event and thats how the year went lol
I remember when my cousin introduced me to this game when it was really p2w, im so glad they made the game more f2p friendly. (I still have no idea how i stuck with the game for 5 years)
I was playing acu, got mad angry that I couldn't beat something within my skill range, decided the mental roadblock was enough and then switched to brawl stars. safe to say I'm never touching acu again even when I play GD to this day
As a more veteraned player, people likely got mad because the trophy reset has been tampered with so much, and now a complete overhaul where pushing to 1k to even attempt get a better reward seemed ridiculous, but they didn’t think about how pushing higher in trophies is far easier now thanks to the new system in place. Also hearing someone call Edgar annoying is really funny, hope you can keep getting better, than Edgar should be easier to fight unless he HARD counters your pick.
The problem with the trophy rework is that people like me, who had over 50,000 trophies, consistently got to legendary in ranked, are maxed, play everyday since 2021 or earlier, and while not professionals they are clearly good players, they are matched with Brawl Pass players with 30,000 trophies, who clearly don't have a skill level comparable to what their account progress looks, or players under 10,000 trophies who are still figuring out the basics of the game and the brawlers they are playing, and both of these types of players tend to use underleveled brawlers they unlocked not very long ago, and tend not tu understand how to play them properly. This results in players like me who are stuck having to carry bad players more often than players of my own skill level, and in some game modes, having a bad teammate is way worse for your team than how having a good teammate is good for your team. This results in losing many matches for the fault of unexperienced players who are just learning the game, which you will understand it is not the most rewarding feeling. I love the game, and I think that update brings awesome things, I love the new rewards, they are amazing, but every single match takes me more effort, because I have to do an effort to do good not only for me, but to make up for how bad my teammates are. For example, you are under 10,000, and 2 beginner mistakes you do are constantly auto-aiming, which is mostly fine for a short range brawler, but it means you get bodied once you do that with long range brawlers, and being too aggressive in the matches, just running straight into the enemy, without making sure you can do that safely. I don't mention this to criticise you, I use that as an example to my case. Players who do that, "average" or "slightly wors than average" players tend to get destroyed, because by not aiming you will miss all your attacks if the enemy just tries to dodge you in the slightest, and you will feed your enemies super because it is very easy to hit you since you are constantly running towards them, giving them a strong advantage since they wilk likely kill you before you charge even one super, and then your 2 teammates will have to fight a losing battle without their supers, when the enemy are three and have their supers charged. I am sure that by playing you will learn from this mistakes, and become a really good player, but unfortunately, us who have already learned those basic skills, and are refining other "advanced skills" are matched with begginers like the ones from the example, and personally, half of the matches I lose, I am the star player, which goes to show that despite how good I played, being the best from both teams, my teammates still managed to give my enemies such a big advantage that we lost the game anyways. Additionally, I have never seen so many posts from pro players who lose a match having over 18 kills, because one teammate died 23 times or so without getting a single kill. The problem with the update is the matchmaking system, which now makes players with very different skill levels be in the same pool, and since more than half of the players are new players, that just means that more experienced players are condemned to play frustrating matches with people who don't really know what they are doing, because of an update that otherwise brought so many cool things. Sorry for my rumbling, but it has already been a month and I really suffer it. And playing with teammates is not a permanent solution, since sometimes I don't have friends available, or I don't wanna play in a team, I want to get into a match and have a decent match, and the new matchmaking system ruins that for me half of the time
Last March during 10th grade English class and there was a sub, my friend told me “Bro hop on Brawl Stars everyone’s playing it”. Been playing it since and I got 15k trophies
back then brawl passes could be bought with gems so f2p players had a way to get the passes every 2 months or so, which was on eof the main reasons i started playing. they stopped, but i still play time to time
Though there is some flaws like teamers, wintrading, unbalanced metas, and toxicity YIPPEE NO MORE PEOPLE THAT BROKE THEIR FINGERS JUST FOR ME TO GET CONFUSED
I’ve been playing this game since the first week of beta in 2018. That has been 7 years of playing consistently and loving it, I just played out of genuine fun even throughout the dry seasons
My tips for you since you seem new: 1. Be patient 2. Don't play too aggressive unless you know who you're going up against 3. Play the right brawler for the right map 4. Know what all the brawlers do
the 1000+ new trophy is good don’t get me wrong, but it’s in no way perfect, mainly because it matches every skill range against each other making it too easy for some more experienced people to push 1000+ as long as they make a team as they’re going to go against noobs who pushed all the way to 1000 with their favorite brawler. For example, I struggle there because I get bad teammates most of the time (I’m 50k, been playing since 2017, my teammates are 10k, been playing since 2024)
I've wanted to see something like this for the longest time, so glad my bewilderment that this game is so good compared to the rest of the slop on the app store wasn't exclusive to me
I didn’t like the max tier update because it removed my chance to ever achieve a rank 35. All my r30’s, 31’s, 32’s, 33’s, and 34’s were gone with no proof that I ever even got them in the first place… All my work for nothing.
Dude Charlie is so good people underestimate her like crazy so you get easy kills (idk really I just got her on max tier and I'm hella proud I just want to flex)
I really respect the brawl team bcz it feels like they want the game to be good to new and old players. First of they removed boxes to not promote gambling even though they did lose a lot of player(i loved the change but i know a lot of ppl who didnt). Then they brought them back in a much better and less scamy way(star drops). Zhey did make bad updates but they fixed all that they ruined. In newer updates they release a lot more skins instead of adding more p2w elements. I have been playing the game for its whole lifespan and i can say there were only a few really bad updates. The power 11 was done horribly but they fixed it. Also the new monthly additions like the spongebob and other are a lot of fun to play. I feel like the only thing the game lacks is something for the top 0.1 precent of players to do. As a mostly avg player with around 35k the game really stayed consistently good. Even the dark ages happened bcz of a few bad updates and then they worked for the next 3-4 years to fix all of it. The new popularity is 100% deserved.
As a brawl stars player that i have been playing this game since 2019 i am not going to lie for the the past 5 years that i have been playing this game it change alot though out the years. By the way i hipe you are having a good day 👍
1:10 many players had brawlers with over 1000 trophies, some at more than 3k so the update meant that we'd all lose aLOT of trophies if u had brawlers above 10k also teir 35 used to be really hard to get, and now its really easy to get so all the pros would have to get to teir 40-max to be considered as a 'pro'
1:10 because they completely overhauled the system, it's overall better with the fast matchmaking but a pro player will never face another pro player rendreing sweaty matches non-existent and old trophy system achievements are now worthless 3:19 Karios's tier lists are very generous, his B tier is like C-High D tier on the other people's list, Charlie is playable non-compettively now
Brawl pass used to cost gems but this got changed last year, and baby shark primo was for april fools like poop spike (i still dont know how baby shark was a collab, we had to hear baby shark every time we loggen in the game)

Been playing it since and I got 15k trophies
i love seeing video of people talking about brawl stars from a begginer pov ❤
INCORRECT, there are no good games in the play store (haha some goofy video reference)
back then brawl passes could be bought with gems so f2p players had a way to get the passes every 2 months or so, which was on eof the main reasons i started playing.
they stopped, but i still play time to time
Though there is some flaws like teamers, wintrading, unbalanced metas, and toxicity
YIPPEE NO MORE PEOPLE THAT BROKE THEIR FINGERS JUST FOR ME TO GET CONFUSED
Baby shark el primo and sh*t spike were an april fools joke
I’ve been playing this game since the first week of beta in 2018. That has been 7 years of playing consistently and loving it, I just played out of genuine fun even throughout the dry seasons
My tips for you since you seem new:
1. Be patient
2. Don't play too aggressive unless you know who you're going up against
3. Play the right brawler for the right map
4. Know what all the brawlers do
Tbh, I'm not that new, I started playing in May, I just suck at the game
Don't worry I've been playing for 3 and a half years and I still have 43k trophies and kinda suck too@@MisterMilk123
the 1000+ new trophy is good don’t get me wrong, but it’s in no way perfect, mainly because it matches every skill range against each other making it too easy for some more experienced people to push 1000+ as long as they make a team as they’re going to go against noobs who pushed all the way to 1000 with their favorite brawler. For example, I struggle there because I get bad teammates most of the time (I’m 50k, been playing since 2017, my teammates are 10k, been playing since 2024)
I've wanted to see something like this for the longest time, so glad my bewilderment that this game is so good compared to the rest of the slop on the app store wasn't exclusive to me
1:58 they added wipeout and bounty into permanent rotation
I didn’t like the max tier update because it removed my chance to ever achieve a rank 35. All my r30’s, 31’s, 32’s, 33’s, and 34’s were gone with no proof that I ever even got them in the first place… All my work for nothing.
Been playing brawl stars since early 2019 and bro everything changed so much over the years I didn't even realize it
if you are free2play and actually want to compete thats pretty hard but if you wanna stay casual its probably the best game
unless ur f2p acc is like years old but besides that yea
The only 100% f2p casual I know who owns and has maxed out every single brawler has been playing the game almost since release
@ exactly you can't keep up when your new to the game
0:00 Yeah it almost joined the supercell graveyard in 2022 along with many of their other games
I started playing this game back in 2019
Thats when the game had only 20 or so brawlers
And Rosa just dropped
1:40 GOTTA SWEEP
Dude Charlie is so good people underestimate her like crazy so you get easy kills (idk really I just got her on max tier and I'm hella proud I just want to flex)
0:21 bro just described my daily life
There is also another good mobile game called "The Battle Cats"
fr
It's stayed relevant though, this game just boosted up in the air.
Peak
Yeah but the amount of time you waste grinding gets really annoying
The new popularity is 100% deserved.
originally you could buy brawl pass with your gems, but it's no longer the case.
They finally brought back wipeout! The best mode!
As a brawl stars player that i have been playing this game since 2019 i am not going to lie for the the past 5 years that i have been playing this game it change alot though out the years. By the way i hipe you are having a good day 👍
I feel like brawl stars just spawned and then it was just a thing everyone accepted.
Brawl Stars is such a good game that sometimes i forget that its a moblie game.
bro started out on spirit wars era
1:41 well... until it gives you 3 assasins against 3 throwers
as a brawl stars player with 40k+ trophies, I strongly suggest everyone NEVER CONSIDER BRAWL STARS AS AN OPTION,DON´T INSTALL IT
They used to have the brawl pass available for gems, but they changed it. (It was half the price of what you’d get from the free side of the pass)
Holy shit the first 20 Seconds is me. I was stuck on future funk and then started playing brawl stars because i was bored
complaining about c/d tier brawler edgar is devious work
chester main W
Legendary 2 says otherwise
2:42 bro why are you dissing me bruh 😭 💀
3:33 hank, pre rework darryl, pre rework frank
The random encounters references are like the best
I watched the Baldi's Basics Musical 100 times as a kid
I have bad financial issues when theres a new currency for a limited event
1:10 many players had brawlers with over 1000 trophies, some at more than 3k
so the update meant that we'd all lose aLOT of trophies if u had brawlers above 10k
also teir 35 used to be really hard to get, and now its really easy to get so all the pros would have to get to teir 40-max to be considered as a 'pro'
1:10 because they completely overhauled the system, it's overall better with the fast matchmaking but a pro player will never face another pro player rendreing sweaty matches non-existent and old trophy system achievements are now worthless
3:19 Karios's tier lists are very generous, his B tier is like C-High D tier on the other people's list, Charlie is playable non-compettively now
1:12 Brawl stars community in a nutshell
Brawl Stars + Cuphead music = a definite sub
I mean it’s pretty good, but OH BOY there are still problems in the game…speaking as a player who’s been playing since 2019
Brawl pass used to cost gems but this got changed last year, and baby shark primo was for april fools like poop spike (i still dont know how baby shark was a collab, we had to hear baby shark every time we loggen in the game)
5 or 6 I don't remember
@TheCooLBluE-M hello there
Can’t find ur club 5:52
Yeah, that's because the club is full now, sorry :(
@@MisterMilk123ok
1:13 Oh, you haave no idea
the people that hate the new trophy system are probably wintraders
Brawl Stars WAS popular back when it released, it just became even more popular when Clash.. died.
Kinda sad as a former clash player i think the main concept of CR is so much better than brawl but overall brawl is significantly better than clash in its current state
FINALLY SOMEONE TALKS ABOUT IT
I'd like to present to you...
Limbus Company.
Id like to add on, arknights
1:58 you forgot bounty here, I heard the lost and thought something was off, then I remembered bounty
I didn't mention Bounty because it's not in rotation as often as the others, but I think the mode is pretty good
@@MisterMilk123 I’m pretty sure it’s in rotation the same amount as wipeout, knockout and hotzone. It’s just less popular
Did i find my secret doppleganger?
I played GD (and i was playing Future Funk too...) and im almost addicted to Brawl Stars now... oh well atleast i got 40k trophies
1:12 that’s both a yes and no
This is super underrated,10/10 RUclipsr
I started playing in 2018, but the game is no longer very competitive and it and it lacks a good reward system.
the baby shark collab was made on april fools as a joke
This video was very enjoyable and did you know the brawl pass used to cause gems? but now it’s Pay to win. but the game still fun.😅
