- Sunday, March 31, 2013 - TV legend Mary Tyler Moore appears frail as she arrives at LAX with hubby Robert Levine. Moore, who had brain surgery a few years ago, is in town to comfort former co-star Valerie Harper who was recently diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.
What a true display of class. Mary looked so frail towards the end. Rest in peace Mary. You truly did turn the world on with your smile
It’s obvious she has lost much of her vision here due to the diabetes .
She can’t see well and is overwhelmed by these jerks , yet she is so gracious .
Very stoic. I adore her .
I was very impressed how Mary kept a smile and was so gracious to all the photographers and reporters and autograph seekers. She is one of the classiest women I have ever seen.
This woman smiles and greets people even up till the end. So gracious and loving toward everyone around her. To anyone who understands this, this woman is indeed Celestial material.
Most of us didn’t know she was almost completely blind at that point.
@@maxinedavieds6104 That is probably true.
I love Mary as she reminds me of many humble celebrities who knew what came with the territory. She was unbothered, she smiled and made small talk as she was headed out of the airport. This is a true class act, she didn't get mad nor upset. She joked and said 'guys, I don't have any makeup on' but she was still beautiful as she was fighting her own health battle. RIP Mary. RIP Valerie.
I'm sure she WAS bothered, but she didn't let it show. They should have had some respect for her privacy. Paparazzi did NOT come with the territory back when Mary very first started in show biz. But by the time she became a big star on the Dick Van Dyke show, Paparazzi were buzzing around celebs in full force, so she's been use to their crap for ages. She knows they get more money for pictures of pissed off celebs. So she didn't give them what they wanted.
Unfortunately big money is also gotten from photographing celebs in their most vulnerable, grief stricken, personal moments like this. Without makeup.
Mary was indeed one classy, savy lady to the end. She could have broken down and thrown a fit (and she would have had every right to), but she chose not to give them what they wanted. She didn't let them see her cry or scowl. She never forgot her ace in the hole: (with or without makeup) she could turn the world on with her smile!
She shouldn't have had to make herself smile in a time of grief just to get through the hordes of buzzards, though. People should have more respect.
The epitome of class, grace and kindness. You turned the world on with your smile! Thank you Mary!
She was so gracious and nice. Bless her.
the world is a sadder place since Mary Tyler Moore passed away thanks for all the shows you were in that will live on rip Mary you are loved and missed
What's the point of all these vultures?
She's going to visit her sick friend, hasn't she given enough to the public?
Mary indeed handled herself quite admirably. Even though she was besieged by a bunch of paparazzi, she carried herself with style and class just as Mary Richards would. It was sweet and kind of her to make the trip to visit her friend Valerie who was also sick. May those two wonderful ladies rest in peace.
Valerie and Mary they gave us love 💕, joy 😊 God bless them 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Absolutely gracious of Mary. I met her at a book signing of hers. Completely sweet and gracious.
I was a latch key kid in the 1970s. The MTM Show and it's charters always made me happy and secure. I watched mostly the reruns. One of the best tv shows ever!
I'm so glad the show brightened your life! I am much older, and it brought a lot of joy to me, too.
Me as well. I remember laying in bed and hearing the show come on from the TV room. Made me feel so secure, warm, comfortable. Feel the same today. The season 7 closing theme is the absolute best…then the cat…perfect.😀💕
What a class act still smiling all the way through the airport.
Dealing with all those creeps has to be so difficult for her. She has been diabetic for many years, and I suspect her vision is almost gone. In addition, I understand she has had brain surgery. Can't we humans be kinder to our elderly? Do unto others....
You know deep inside she didn't want to be seen in public, not in her state of health.
But for Rhoda, "Mare" is there for her.
I'm also glad for Mary she finally found her Prince Charming on her third try.
This guy was at her side always, no ego problems like she had with Grant Tinker, her second hubby.
A woman who's suffered losses and disappointments of her own, she never let that deter from her public persona and how she treated others.
Just like Mary Richards would have done, facing each day with a smile.
Yes, Mare, you made it after all.
ya so true, I always thank her for showing me how to live my life with her legendary shows. Love her forever.
MTM Here she is so generous, gracious and smiling, giving her time and giving autographs. Classic ☆ Amazing Grace!
I love Mary! She's an icon and I hope she's with us for years to come! :) She really kept her cool with some many ppl surrounding her like that. She's a strong woman!
Thank you, Mary!
Mom passed at 80 also and marry reminds me of her. Living and thriving is awesome but aging and dieing breaks my heart.
Diabetes can take a toll even if you have the best doctors in the world. She's been dealing with this since 1969.
She smiled through so much pain.
My question is why did these reporters and photographers even bother poor MTM? Mary is ill, it really bothered me that these men would not stop at all,I wonder how they'd feel if the tables were turned on them someday by other celebrities?
There Both Together Again
God Bless Love ❤️
So gracious , what a lady
I got through alot growing up with Mary show than Rohda Phyllis show that girl Marlo Thomas it was cute my husband use to pretend Marlo was his mom he said than all in the family I was pregnant with my first baby pretty far along the night they showed Edith passed I cried all night it felt like loosing my mom finally my husband got up and sat with me said deb you got to stop it is a TV show not real after that he would not let me get into shows again because I was beyond heart broken I never got to see Mary this frail she was wonderful person jesus blessed her with stardom and she had beautiful face smile that stayed with her as you could see even with out makeup in a way I am kind of glad that I didn't see much about her passing because right now it makes me sad
How about removing the word "Frail" from your title?
She is frail.
Respect her privacy.
@@Capecodham no she was a vribrent mature woman u fucking clown lol
Unfortunately she did seem frail in this video. You could tell she wasn't feeling well. Those scumbags bothering her should have left her alone.
@@NJgateway it doesnt matter your just as bad as the scumb bags taking pics and this guy running this youtube channel your voiceing your sexist opinion on a woman and thats uncalled for as well as condoning this mans behavior.. And the fact u say it out loud is disgusting... You shouldnt even have these opinions on a womans looks or age 2021 and i cant believe people still think that shit is okay its not
Mary was always gracious and classy. I miss her.
Heartbreaking in the most joyous way. God bless Mary’s husband, Dr. Robert Levine….a loving, thoughtful, immensely kind man who gave his all to Mary. Both of them divine and eternal.
I love Mary, she has been battling diabetes for so many years...
and of course Valerie Harper...
God, why can't these creeps leave this legendary lady alone??? I would NEVER bother MTM this way, not even for an autograph. Bless her for being so patient, and her husband, too. Guess she knows this will wind up on RUclips, so she needs to keep her cool, but enough already!!!
Wow, so many things.. Ultimately, however, her dignity shines thru. And if that was a tad bit by design, good for her!
She was always beautiful ❤
She actually looks very pretty without makeup. A bit tight/..... but pretty. I can't imagine gradually losing your sight like she has. That must be very difficult. Sometimes I wonder if getting old is really an honor or a test of strength. I hope she's around for a long time.
Getting old is a blessing.
I want to cry );
Seeing her like that I too just want to cry.
it's amazing what age does to a person. we love you Mary and wish you the best. and please fellas leave this girl alone!!
Why do people says things like this to women more often than men? She had cancer. What do you expect? very judgemental
@@Michelle-pn9xt Very strange reaction. Rather judgemental of you to judge a random person as judgemental....
@@ottrovgeisha2150 The other person is saying something negative related to a woman's appearance, yet you have aq problem with my comment. This is not logical. The random person was being judgmental. Now you are judging me because I think women are more than their looks. Okay.
@@Michelle-pn9xt I don't believe you. I don't think that you think that women are more than their looks. It sounds more like you are using this women-thing as a cover to vent and rant. Deep inside you are not ready to be believe that women are more than their looks, so you get frustrated.
@@ottrovgeisha2150 I think somebody needs a hobby.
You can tell the diabetes has truly impaired her vision...she does not even blink with the myriad of cameras flashing in her face..sad, but a trouper and a class act.
I grew up watching you on tv...you were just like part of the family...we love you and we miss you
MTM really was a truly special, warm, kind, gentle, loving, Classy Lady.
Goes to show that actors and celebrities are real people no matter what . ANd yet can give the rest of us such strength
My God , how gracious, even the reporters felt bad cornering her. She handled everything so humanely well.watching this 6 yrs later.
The extensive surgery hasn't helped, but the severe diabetes is what's really taken it's toll on Mary. She handled these roaches with class.
She sure did...most of us would have told them to F' off! But not her...
Yeah you could tell she was basically blind at this time but she still smiled and tried to greet people
Don't call her fans roaches.
Wow price of fame... her voice still sounds lovely and young.
At :17 she says "i don't have on any makeup guys, give me a break."
Wow
Good for her
Such rude people, autograph hounds and photographers are cruel, just leave the woman alone! They are not sincere just out to make money off her.
I'm trying to imagine what kind of value one could attach to an autograph or photo obtained by pestering a frail, frightened old lady who just wanted to get to her car and sit down. Maggots, all of them.
Frightened? No. Frail? Very. But a strong woman still.
These photogs take bunch of pics of the celeb, then sell it to the tabs like Nat'l Inquirer or TMZ with all kinds of Nasty captions underneath.
Poor Mary, she has no idea what these dogs are up to.
So gracious!
Loved her fans!
A true legend!
She’s so gracious
These photographers are atrocious! How many photos do you need!!!
It's hard seeing Mary like that.
Mary also put her fame to work, acting as Spokesperson for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation for many years. Not many celebs would even so much admit to having diabetes, yet Mary wisely used her fame for the good.
Wish all celebs were like her.
I miss her smile! Lovely woman!
There must be a way for high-caliber personalities to leave LAX without having to pass through all of this public space. Assuming that's the case, I'm surprised MTM's people didn't arrange for that. Nevertheless, she handled herself as well as could be expected.
They'll never replace Mary as a person or a performer. Heartfelt.
she had a sweet caring husband. Disgusting the way they hound her.
Would a sweet and caring husband put her through this? And don't tell me he didn't know when word got out she would be swamped with paparazzi and gawkers. I just hope he didn't have her flying coach. You know, not to waste money that he would inherit.
@akrenwinkle she could've said no to this appearance but chose to follow through with it.
Such a sweet soul.
Powerful performance movie 🎥 Ordinary people Mary Tyler Moore ⭐🌹
How long was this before she passed away?
About four years so you can imagine how Ill she was at the end. But she lived with type 1 diabetes for fifty years, something few diabetics achieve.
@@pacather She also put her fame to work, acting as Spokesperson for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation for many years. Not many celebs would even so much admit to having diabetes, yet Mary wisely used her fame for the good.
RIP Mary and Valerie 🥀
A lifetime of diabetes has caused her to go nearly totally blind and lose some feeling in her legs and feet, neuropathy. She's a very fine lady, I wish her well.
She is walking well and seems to know where she is going!! Writing too.
Mary has had A LOT work done and it shows. But, she also has not been in good health a quite while and that shows, too. Very sad.
This poor woman was very ill. Her final months were not kind.
No wonder she can't see. It's like staring into a lightening storm.
The husband seen with Mary is a cardiologist. What with his expertise and connections, I would think Mary would be in better health. She is in terrible condition, even taking into account she is 76.
Sadly, she was declining long before meeting Levine.
@@texan903 Mary had medical issues due to diabetes, but clearly not taken care of here. For one thing, he could have dissuaded her from having multiple plastic surgeries. For another, he could have chartered a private flight to spare Mary the indignity of dealing with paparazzi and fans, navigating an escalator in a cheap outfit and no makeup. She should have traveled first class; she had earned it. But that would leave less inheritance for much-younger Levine. If you didn't know, the local police in Fairfield Connecticut were called out to Mary's home more than once for disturbances. Mary told cops Levine was her estranged husband. He explained her behavior as the effect of medication.
@akrenwinkle Judging by the clip, Mary looks to be genuinely delighted with the attention. Her medical problems were in full force by that time, so she was seldom leaving her home. Getting to feel the love from fans and admirers had to be a heartwarming occasion. In addition to her son, who died, she had also lost her sister and brother to death, so her husband was all she had to rely on. Divorce would've meant around the clock care for her as there were no other immediate survivors of her family. He should've made sure she had what she needed during that trip, but I don't think she was displeased.
@@texan903 If you're implying Mary was a prisoner of her younger husband at this juncture, I agree. What she needed was a good conservatorship, possibly arranged by some of her friends... and she had many. What you don't take into account is that above all, Mary was an actress. She herself had said that she only felt alive when acting... a slippery slope, but that's how she was. She seemed delighted being paraded at this busy venue because she was acting. After decades in the public eye, she knew better than to recoil from her fans, and find out the next day's news: Mary Tyler Moore Turns Off the World With Her Frown. To say Mary was displeased with this fiasco would be an understatement on my part.
With or without makeup, she could turn the world on with her smile!
She shouldn't have had to make herself smile in a time of grief just to get through the hordes of buzzards, though. People should have more respect.
She was truly amazing .
I'm sure her poor sweet widowed husband misses her terribly but at least he doesn't have to put up with these clueless "fans" any more. That must be one consolation for him😔.
So terrible can’t we do something about paps at least in an airport. How can she see where’s she’s going with bright flashing lights.
She is blind..
Mary seems to be such a genuinely nice person.
How many pictures do you need of someone walking ? Good grief .
Brett Exactly my thought too!!! What a bunch of disrespectful idiots!!!
Valerie is still going strong.
Thank God!!
@@ElectricCoolsadly, she died in 2019 at only 80.
ouch, what do you have against the "person who can turn the wrld on with her smile" :P
Oh, My! What to make of this? I realize Mary is a celebrity with reporters doing what they do, but this is harrowing and the most glaring illustration of inappropriateness I've ever seen. The reporters are not insulting her, but they are overpowering this weak, frail defenseless woman caught in the glare of the headlights on her way to visit a sick friend. That autograph seeker! In Mary's position, I guess the best thing to do is what she did. Smile, be accommodating, move forward while praying for it to be over, creating less of a 3 ring circus than if her people got her involved in a fracas. I just can't get over this... I'm going to go watch it again. And not because I like it...
You can just feel Mary's pain...
How is she being so nice? This is why I never want to be famous.
Hard not to love that woman.
People can be so damn inhumane and just fucking vultures. It’s so disgusting for me to witness.
Why did her husband not shield her with a scarf and sunglasses at least!!!
2:08 MTM was on during my high school years. And at that age it sticks. Other shows from my 30$ didn't stick as I was 30. So Mary was beautiful. I saw the filming twice and realized in real life she was different she cursed when Ted blew a line she cursed when she blew a line or someone in the audience sneezed .she drove a Porsche and looked more beautiful cause of lighting script makeup hair designer ..she was a product. .but at the end. I loved her show,,,I always wanted Johnny Carson to interview Mary Richards not Mary Tyler Moore.. because we all loved Mary Richards ..he could have interviewed Capt Kirk and even Samantha Stevens. .
Mary Tyler Moore looks extremely ill!!!😣😣😣😣
Love
Had no idea liked Mary Tyler Moore also movie 🎥 ordinary people so sad 😢
one classy lady
Damn paps always blinding people with photos. No class!
Mary's diabetes exacted a heavy toll.
She doesn't look frail, but she probably would've aged better without the plastic surgery.
No MArys face looks beautiful and she looks like herself.
I think to us being mobbed by the paparazzi seems intrusive, obtrusive and uncaring but in some way it's probably flattering and might even stroke her Hollywood ego still.
Let's face it, if she didn't want publicity or be seen, I would imagine she has enough money to charter a flight if privacy really mattered to her.
I think it's a healthy sign that she isn't a total recluse (yet).
Go Mary!!! Looking good darlin'............
I don't think she can frown with all the plastic surgery she's had. face lifts do make a smile....
Frail? She’d lost her sight. Looking older but not frail
Couldn't those autograph leeches see that she was visibly frail? A very greedy bunch those autograph hounds, who only turn around and sell the autograph for a large price.
Plastic surgery also changes a person...
vultures
Vultures…leave the woman alone.
Walking dead....she looks horrible....and that was three years ago....my god
