Mary Richards was the coolest. She wasn't a TV mom she was a TV woman. She had a car a job lots of dates a wicked neat apartment. This is wonderful. Thanks.
She must have been a role model for a lot of people, judging by the comments here. 😊 You can see all of the other TV and movie home tours I've made here: ruclips.net/user/MarinaCoavideos?view_as=subscriber
thank you for this! When the first season came on the air, I loved the yellow wicker chair, so my mom suggested I write to the set decorator. He was kind enough to answer my letter and told me where they purchased it. Lucky for me (and my dad's convertable car!) we went to the Los Angeles store Rappaport, and the salesman told me yes, there were two chairs originally, the designer bought one, and I got the other! Many years later, I gave it to my niece, with the strict instructions "mary's chair" is to stay in the family!
Oh my goodness! I wish I could have interviewed the set designers. I wish he was still around.. I checked when making this episode. How smart of you to write and ask back then. Thanks for sharing your story.
I'm a guy and I grew up watching this show and loving it, and I get weirdly choked up seeing this apartment in such detail. I don't know why, maybe because being a little kid in the 70's is something I look back on so fondly.
I love hearing this. Thanks for sharing. I always hope my tour will bring back fond memories. They always do for me. You can see all of the other TV and movie home tours I've made here: ruclips.net/user/MarinaCoavideos?view_as=subscriber
Rhoda's apartment always reminded me a little bit of the inside of Jeannie's bottle. Full bright colors and similarly shaped. Sad to think that so many of the cast are now gone. We do still have Dick Van Dyke ❤ This made my day!
I am 57. I watched the entire series first run. Those Saturday nights at my grandparents house is/was/and will always be so magical to me with MTMS, Newhart, Burnette. I am so thankful to have enjoyed so much time with so many in my family, neighbors...from the "Greatest Generation." I miss all of them so deeply.

@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane I had severe abuse but my grandparents treated me like their son. I am thankful to this day for love, kindness and respect they gave me.
Love what you did with this! So true that design is personal and tells a story. The Victorian vibe crossing over with the 70s is sort of Bohemian but tells the story perfectly! Great point about scale being slightly larger. Too bad not so as often in real life. You made Mary’s apartment even more beautiful! Thanks!!
This show was such a classic. One of the best TV sets of all time. The Saturday night CBS lineup was epic in the 1970s. I would love to see you do The Bob Newhart Show.
@@Snapepet Thank you. I can't wait to explore all the parts we rarely saw. And I'm curious about the sq. ft. I'm guessing it's much larger than it appears on camera.
@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane I loved her apartment too. My own home reflects exactly who I am. I am a single (divorced) mom, my son moved out ten years ago but lives nearby. I can do what I want to it and I think that is one reason Mary's place appealed to so many of us women. It was hers, she didn't share it with a man.
I think it’s interesting how we’ve sort of harkened back to a Mary Richards way of life, in that the average apartment in a modern high rise is very small and as Mary did, utilizing space is crucial.
I loved her apartment so much. Just 2 years ago while visiting my aunt in Minneapolis, we found the actual house that they filmed the outside from. It has changed some but still a grande home. I was in awe and took so many photos as it was one of my favorite shows and I loved her kitchen as small as it was it was cute.
....That home was for Sale, at various times ,and it was q u i te Pricey. ... in 2017, it was listed for 1.65 Million ... it was built in the 1900's and its a really large Home...I think around 9,000 + square feet.
Oh, what memories! Mary made all of us believe we could make it after all. As always, you did a fabulous job! Thank you for your wonderful work - these iconic designs would be lost to history if not for you. Much Love - Nona
I'm a guy and I watch the show every Saturday. For me, it was an event. Mary was definitely a role model for many, including me. While I didn't want to be her (I'm a guy) she did make me want to be a better person. Our lives sort of paralleled each other. I had just moved out on my own and rented my first apartment. Her best friend lived in her building. My best friend lived in my building I didn't have many funds, so I had to decorate my apartment on a shoestring budget. I went with style over expensive. All of my friends just loved my apartment and what I did with it, just like Marys'. In fact, my best friend dropped in unannounced and he brought along his sister. It was the first time she had seen my apartment. She asked me if I had hired a professional decorator! Anyway, Mary and the show did have a positive influence on my life and it did make (with some effort) make me a better person.

"Hiya, Mar'!" (like how Rhoda used to greet Mary, lol.) Marina, thanks so much for your time and talent in the making of all these videos. I'm an advertising creative director/copywriter who appreciates not only the set design imagery you create, but also your well written informative, nostalgic narrations. And it's hard to stump me on behind the scenes trivia, yet you always do. From one avid fan of classic shows to another - Great job. You rock! Please keep these comin'.
Thank you. I really appreciate the mention of the script, because it's something that seems like it shouldn't take long, but somehow always manages to.
I love how you've noticed details and pieces of "forgotten" furniture and have included them against the imaginary fourth wall. Very organic solutions. Great work! :)

My all-time favorite show! When I was a little girl, I just knew I’d one day have an apartment just like Mary’s. And work for the news. I ended up with a journalism degree, but alas, no adorable apartment. I also realized I identify more with Rhoda now that I’m an adult🤷♀️ What a wonderful show and such memorable and likable characters!
Brilliant. I'm an old man and you made me cry. You completed a dream for so many of us, and your commentary is truly meaningful. I love that we have this shared experience, so many whose imaginations were sparked by what we didn't see as well as what we did. Thanks so much. Great work here.
I never thought of the closet going into the bathroom, I had always just thought the showrunners changed their mind on what was through that door. So great to see it all put together in such high quality, and I love all the included moments from the show!
I would love to see the apartments from the show Rhoda. It always fascinated me that they were all in the same building. Your videos are amazing and show how hard you work on them. I love watching your take on the 4th walls too.
I too looked forward to every Saturday evening to see “Mary”. I would love to see The Jefferson’s uptown apartment and perhaps the Bunker’s house from the old neighborhood next door. What fun!

Mary's apartment didn't exactly whisper the 70's, itself! 😂 With the sunken living room and plush (almost shag) carpeting of mustard yellow and brown. And the olive walls. (I think the simulation modernized it a little bit by removing the carpeting and replacing it with what looks like hardwood or hard vynle flooring?) In any case, Mary's apartment was chic- but definitely 70's chic. Come to think of it, I think Rhoda's apartment screamed the 60's! With all the day glow colors. I know a lot of people still decorated with day-glow colors in the 70's (Especially hot pink and shocking orange)... but I think that was a holdover from the 60's. Rhoda's aesthetic didn't fully join the neutral tones of the 70's until she got married, moved to New York, and got her own show. I'm really geeking out on this! 🤓😂 I just love that whole era of my early childhood and this subject makes me happy! ❤
@@kaynemccully5266 I wish she had not left. I still loved the show but there was nothing like those early years! Mary Richards and Rhoda Morgenstern are icons.
I always loved the step down into Mary's apartment as well as the built-in bookshelf. It is interesting how the set was changed over the seasons, but I never noticed. I wonder if the little wooden steps were an afterthought as the first season progressed giving the actors more options for movement? The progression from no steps to one that is permanently built in is a natural one. This is such a familiar space, having grown up watching MTM every Saturday night. It felt like visiting the home of a childhood friend. Thanks for taking me on the tour.
Glad you enjoyed the tour. I bet you're right - they probably added the steps to help the actors move around. You can see all of the other TV and movie homes I’ve finished here: ruclips.net/user/MarinaCoavideos?view_as=subscriber
@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane I'm sure that I have seen other house tours that you have done, but none touched me like Mary's apartment. And when I saw Mockingbird Lane as part of your channel's name, I knew there was another house to look for. Quite a difference between sweet Mary Richards and The Munster Family, though I think Mary and Marilyn had things in common. If you are an architect or interior designer and a vintage t.v. buff, this is a great way to combine your interests. Much appreciated.
No, you are not alone..I dreamed of being Mary and living in that beautiful apartment too! I love everything about that apt and to this day(I'm in my early 60's)I could live there:) This was an awesome episode! Thank you!
This is fantastic! My mom loved the Mary Tyler Moore show and, since we had only one TV when I was growing up, we watched what our parents watched. I have been an interior designer for the past 35 years and, more than any other visual experience I had as a kid, Mary's apartment without a doubt birthed my own interest in interior design. I hadn't seen the set in years but remembered everything about it - from the stained glass "garage door" at the kitchen breakfast bar to the bookcase "step" to the M on the wall. Thank you so much for doing this! (As a side note, I even remembered thinking that the plaster weeping between the lath in Rhoda's apartment meant there was no insulation - a really bad idea considering Minneapolis winters :-).
How cool that the show inspired a future interior designer! I bet you are not alone. I also find it interesting that even as a child you noticed the plaster between the laths! You were born to be a designer. 😊
I absolutely loved this!! You are not alone in Mary being such an inspiration. The series took me from age 12 to age 19 and I fell in love with her character and apartment instantly! I decided that I wanted to be just like her and ended up putting myself through 4 years of nursing school with student loans and hard work. I had a series of 4 apartments and was single until the age of 36. I used all of the colors she had at the time in my first couple of apartments with brown, orange, yellow and olive green. I loved my life, my career and my independence and when I finally got married, I was truly ready! 😊
I loved this show. I had the etc letters like Rhoda had in her apartment. I loved what you did with the 4th wall in Mary’s apartment. It was a unique place with the entrance and book shelves and closet going to the bathroom. I was always curious about that bathroom. Surprised it was as large as you’ve shown. Thank You Marina. I love watching your work
I was a senior in high school during the first season of the MTM show. I lived for the next episode. I, too, dreamed about the future patterned after MTM. So, all during college and beyond, the MTM show was the hightlight of the TV week. I still love all the reruns. I was truly heartbroken when she died. Was so use to MTM always in her 30's. Loved the apartment tour!

I vaguely remember this show from my childhood but I have no memory of Rhoda’s vibrant apt. Wow! What a colorful space! How could I forget that?? I’m impressed that she painted the exposed lath and plaster. I think it’s the unfinishedness of the walls that give it an attic feel to me. As always thank you so much for your dedication to bringing us insight into iconic movie homes. It is truly a bright spot in my day to sit with you and hear your thoughts on the set itself as well as imaginings of the spaces we don’t have much information about. I have an A on my office wall. I smile at how many of us have done that. ❤️
I couldn't find letter M wall decor but I did find an M keychain made from sturdy leather. It must be from the 1980s or even late seventies and I still use it !
First and Foremost....ALL OF YOUR WORK IS INCREDIBLE. Seriously look forward to each visit to one of my favorite TV homes. They are like family, so it is like going to there house. Thank you. So, it may not be in your wheelhouse, or doesn't sound interesting, or just never thought of it...but I wanted to respectfully offer a suggestion of one of my favorite TV "sets." Like so many others I was fascinated how the layout was between all the set exists and entrances, but can't quite get the layout in my head. If you ever have the time, or it interests you, how about the WKRP in Cincinnati radio station? Might be fun. More importantly, thank you for sharing your fine work.
I had the privilege of seeing the entire cast at the 2007 SAG awards. A few years later I had a one on one visit with Valerie Harper. Valerie was one of the sweetest people I have ever met. I cherish my autographed photo of her. I also had the privilege of meeting Gavin MacLeod. His daughter was a school teacher in Monterey, CA. I worked at See's Candies in Monterey for 8 years before moving to Los Angeles in 2006. Whenever Gavin was in town, he would come into the shop where I worked. He, too, was a very friendly person. So were his wife and daughter, very down to earth people. Thank you for this clip. May the entire Mary Tyler Moore Show cast all rest in peace.
How lucky you were to meet so many of the cast. Thanks for sharing. You can see all of the other TV and movie home tours I've made here: ruclips.net/user/MarinaCoavideos?view_as=subscriber
My best friend and I like to borrow the "I'm the Mary, you're the Rhoda" line from Romy & Michelle's High School Reunion. They fought over who was the Mary, but in our case my friend is the Mary and I'm the Rhoda....and we're both totally cool with that! 👌 BTW I've even heard Oprah say she had an "O" on her wall!
I love that line, too! It was Oprah's favorite show and she received a "O" signed on the back by the whole cast when she had them on her show. What a treasure! ✨❤️✨
Ah yes! Her apartment was such a dream, I really enjoyed this video! I love the wonderful message of making design about our story. It’s so easy to see things we love and want them in our own life, as it becomes a personal connection. But it’s much more personal to make it about our story- something I want to try more going forward :)
Glad you enjoyed the video, especially the part about designing our homes to tell our stories! You can see all of the other TV and movie home tours I've made here: ruclips.net/user/MarinaCoavideos?view_as=subscriber
I know this doesn't qualify with your quality of work, but I have always wondered what the Flintstones House and the Jetsons Apartment really looked like. I would daydream about living in the Jetsons fabulous apartment. Would you ever consider doing that just for fun??
Constant conversation of my daughter and her best friend back in the day: Jenny: "I'm Mary and you're Rhoda" Haley "I'm Mary and you're Rhoda", back and forth. We all loved the show. Thanks for your work, so fun!
Fantastic work. Thank you. I will be visiting Minneapolis for the first time this summer and of course I will be driving by Mary's old apartment. I too have had an M on my wall since my first name is Mark. This may sound weird but I love that TV house interiors don't match the house exteriors. It kinda like they're from an alternate universe that has a different set of physical laws than ours universe. This is probably why I love your channel so much.
@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane I have photos of the actual house when I was there 2 years ago. If you like I could send the pictures from my computer if you have an email that is okay to share.

LOVE! This tour was so fantastic. Without a doubt, Mary's apartment is my absolute favorite of all TV settings. You did a wonderful job touring it. I took a woodworking class in high school and yes, I made an M. It's my initial and as a little girl I always watched the show and loved that M on her wall. I never spotted the R though. Did you notice in the scene of Lou taking too much of the dinner there was a guy sitting behind the dining table at the little table by the window? That actor is Henry Winkler before he became famous as the Fonz.
So, you had an M too? But, you even made yours. Cool. Yes, I thought about pointing out "The Fonz." I just watched an interview with him about doing that episode. It's kind of sad and funny, because it lines up with what happened to him in that episode. He was new there, obviously, and everyone else knew each other. So, when they broke for lunch, he said the whole cast went off to wherever they go and he didn't have a clue where to get any lunch. He said that after that, when guest actors were on any show he was a part of, that he made sure that they knew where they could get some lunch.
Hi! I'm so happy your channel was in my "recommendation"...I love it! Watching Rhoda as a young girl inspired me to become a window dresser. As a little girl, my parents would take us kids to see the Christmas display windows in our city's downtown. Back then, there were no malls...but every city had fabulous old department stores with huge windows. The windows displayed everything from fashion to animated Santa Claus, his elves, & a steamer model train. When I saw those amazing displays, I wondered who designed all the detail & beauty? All I knew was that someday I would do that too. So when I saw the character "Rhoda" and heard the job-title "window-dresser"...From that day on, I called myself a window-dresser! Lol! After high school, (college was never an option for me)...I just needed to get myself to a department store & do my thing! And that's exactly what I did! I had no training. I had no experience...Not even a portfolio of pictures. What I had was confidence in my ability to do the work...I just knew it! In the beginning of my career, I sometimes would work for free...Just to get my foot in the door. Once I showed my skill, and my window displays = foot traffic & profit for the stores...Well my reputation was one of " Oh Dee Dee, she's the best!...Hire her immediately!" Eventually, I traveled all over the country designing displays for: department & specialty stores...and later, even airport shops. I even became a "visual display trainer"...(Training on the corporate level) So you see, The Mary Tyler Moore Show is near & dear to my heart. I loved both their apartments...But to this day my home is sooooo inspired but Rhoda's bright, fun & whimsical space...(with just a bit more square footage. Lol!) Sorry for the long comment...but I loved my work for 40+ years...it was a fabulous ride! Thank you so much for posting these 2 apartment who has inspired so many of us gals to dream (&) actually live our dreams. Peace friend. ❤💃 (BTW, As of tonight, I'm a new subscriber to your amazing channel🙂❤)
I loved The Mary Tyler Moore Show when I was a kid. She was a huge inspiration to me. She was a working woman whose life never revolved around a man, her focus was her job and her relationships with her female friends, and I loved that. I always loved her apartment, and was very disappointed when Mary moved into the second apartment. To this day, I have a little wooden "etc." that is displayed on a shelf in my living room. That's my homage to the show, and reminds me to embrace my inner Mary and Rhoda.
❤❤❤ lived in Minneapolis for many years and loved driving past Mary's and Rhoda's apartment house. It is a beautiful home. The chain link fence around the house from the 70s in the show doesn't exist now. It is actually a swanky neighborhood. I loved the kitchen and the roll down stain glass window.
Ps...I love the missing walls you put in. It is so on point and it answers our questions. And to me, the show captured the feel of Minneapolis very well. Minneapolis back in the day had a certain feeling and this show captured it.
I just wanted to say that I really love the 4th wall and bathroom you created for Rhoda's apartment. I particularly love the niche over the bathroom door. I've seen a lot of old homes with those. Rhoda often joked about how tiny her apartment was so it was definitely a small space.
Thank you so much for this video! My heart skipped a beat when I saw the title of this episode. Another one I love is your recreation of the Parent Trap house. You've brought me hours of joy. Thank you so much!❤
Marina! I have a new appreciation for this much beloved sit-com. I really did not fully appreciate how the set design contributed so much to the show. Thanks for your videos. When will you analyze Seinfeld's apartment?
I grew up with this show and adored it, but there is so much I never noticed! Yes, I have an "M" that my dad gave me for Christmas back then. He was a fan of the show, as well. Mary and Rhoda forever ✨❤️✨❤️✨
Wow! This takes me back to high school when I’d never miss an episode! I wanted to BE Mary! I’m curious now, seeing the size of her closet why she didn’t just make that a tiny bedroom…🤔
What a treat to see Rhoda's Apartment. I have always loved her place with the vibrant colors. It is so her and she's one of my all time favorite TV characters of all time. Valarie Harper made and created her, I can't see anyone else playing that role. Thank you for this. The bookcase in Mary's living area has such a charm. I think that is what made me fall in love with that apartment. Sometimes I like to watch the show just to see this apartment. In many ways I was sad when she moved to the new apartment, but I do understand that it was about Mary Richards moving forward in her life.
Always loved that apartment, but Rhoda was always my favorite character! I love quirky! I would love to see ‘That 70s Show ‘ homes. Both the Foreman’s and Pinciatti’s. I grew up in that era and love that 70s vibe! Love, love your channel!
You did an amazing job. Being a huge MTM Show fan since I was a kid in the 1970s, your interpretation of Mary’s apartment is perfection. The only thing I didn’t see was Mary’s distinctive white luggage set.

Another great job, i also wondered how cold Rhoda apartment was especially since they were in Minnesota 🥶 how about the farm house from Green Acres? I know it was part of the plot but it always bugged me they never fixed up the house. It would be cool if you showed it as it was on the show then how it could've been if they fixed it up.
Great idea. It would a great to see how the farm house would look if they finished...I understand why they couldn't never finish their home since such an integral part of most weekly plots shows
Heh heh ... you reminded me of ... I lived in Malibu for a while with two housemates, in a little house a quick walk up from Pacific Coast Highway. We did not arrange for telephone service right away, and it was fine with us -- even in the days before phones you could carry around with you. But then one day we had a visit from one of our friends from school, and when he asked if he could use the phone we told him how to get to the pay phones in front of the party store down on PCH. When he returned, he commented: "At least on Green Acres they only had to climb the telephone pole."
I like the way you stated that - the apartment was like another character. 😊 I will definitely be doing The Partridge Family home. You can see all of the other TV and movie home tours I've made here: ruclips.net/user/MarinaCoavideos?view_as=subscriber
I always wondered about the establishing shot showing Mary's apartment on the 3rd floor but Rhoda always goes up to hers. Was there 4 floors from the back? Not as bad a Full House having Uncle Jesse( who's last name changes from Cockran to Kotsopolis after season 1). He moves to an attic that never existed( per establishing shot) after marriage. If the extra floor was there. Joey & Jesse wouldn't have initially needed to live in the stair alcove ,& basement, respectively. Rhoda ' apartment had attoc walls with no insulation....in Minneapolis?
This is fantastic and the one thing I always liked about Mary’s apartment was the kitchen❤ And yes she was a role model of a decent lady, that’s independent and enjoying her journey…🌹😎 A WONDERFUL Memory lane❤
And I really enjoyed Rhoda and her shows … and she was so bold and strong… when things got tough she never gave up! And I enjoyed ❤ her apartment as well I don’t think I got enough of it! Thank you so much for this!🌹😎
I can not tell you HOW MUCH I LOVE your videos, your creativity, and your love of MTM and Rhida!!! And the DVD Show!!!! I wish you were my next door neighbor, so I we could talk about and watch the MTMS!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ How about doing the interior of the Raymond's house....they have WAAAAAY too many toys.
Funny you should mention that. I'm finishing it up right now. It should be out this week. It took me a whole day to put all of their "stuff" just in the kitchen alone. Adding the props usually takes 1 - 3 hours. This took an entire day. So much stuff. 🤣
Hello Marina, I love your channel for I also grew up watching and loving all of these shows. You do such a detailed and beautiful job flushing out these beloved TV homes but these is one I had mentioned this to you once before and believe me you would have your work cut out for you but there is a show that is really funny called "King of Queens" starring Kevin James and Lehia Remini (sorry for misspelling of names).

One of my favorite examples of attention to detail is the addition of the skyscraper IDS Tower that shows up in the window. The building was not built until 1972. In the first couple of seasons, you can see the tallest building in the city until, the IDS Center was completed, called the Foshay Tower. Who would have guessed that set designers would care about a tiny detail like that!
I watched Mary Tyler Moore when it was a new show on TV, and several times on reruns, and in all that time I never noticed her small letter R! Thanks so much for creating this tour for us.

I love this. This show inspired me so much as a teen. I use to watch this show as a rerun as a teen in the 90s. I was def inspired. I think subconsciously I became a little bit Rhoda and a little bit Mary as an adult. I had a very unique apartment in my early to mid 30s that I called my Mary Tyler Moore apartment. It had a loft and I painted one wall bright orange. This was a joy to see! One of my favorite episodes was when Rhoda redecorated Lou’s apt. To this day I think it was amazing design. It was very modern but also retro. I’m the episode Lou hated it which was of course hilarious.

Good job, Marina. This brings back so many memories. Hi! Would love to see any of the homes featured in any movie director Nancy Myers...her sets are amazing! Thank you!...And have a fabulous Memorial day weekend!🇺🇸❤💃
Very nicely done. 👍🏽 I was two years old when the show premiered, but my mom and grandmother watched from the start. I watched, but didn't understand it like they did. 😄 As time went on to when I was older and watched the old episodes in my teens, I fell in love with the fashions worn by Mary, Phyllis and Rhoha. 😲 My grandmother was extremely talented when it came to designing and sewing clothes, and she was always very stylish with original designs, or her take on a well-known designer's work. She made clothes for herself, my mom, many others and me. I was a fashionable little girl, starting at age two, who wore capes and matching berets made by my grandmother, floor length maxi dresses, pleated short skirts/dresses, and other styles that were popular in the 60s and 70s. My mom and I had a couple of matching outfits that my grandmother made, and she even made an outfit the three of us to match and compliment each other's look for a Fourth of July event when I was around three years old. When I first saw Phyllis and Bess dressed alike, it was cool to see and reminded me of my mom and myself.🙂 Mary often reminded me of my grandmother. My grandmother was very light skinned with very loosely curled natural hair because of her being part Native American. She was a young grandmother at three months after her 40th birthday. She also looked a lot younger than her age and people thought I was her baby, and that my mom was her sister, who also looked very young. She was outgoing, stylish, funny, independent... worked before and after my grandfather passed, she drove sporty cars (a 69 Mustang convertible, two Dodge Chargers) she loved throwing parties, too, but they weren't as disasteraly funny as Mary's. 😄
@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane Hi. 🙂 I'm glad you enjoyed my memories. 🙂 I was editing as you were reading. I'd forgotten to mention about her driving sporty cars like Mary, too... Mustang convertible and two Chargers. Maybe Mary had a _little_ influence on her, too, but she was doing her own thing before the show. 🙂

I'm really glad I found this! I just finished watching every episode and season of MTM. I was a little kid during it's first run, and my parents watched it every week, and often I'd lie on the floor and watch with them. I loved hearing them laughing! When Betty White passed away and I realized all of the major cast members were gone, I felt very nostalgic, and had to see the show again as an adult. What a terrific series it was. Anyway, thank you for putting such time and effort into this. What a great concept for a youtube channel!
It was a superb show and from the very beginning, which is rare. Great writers, great casting and of course, great set design. Glad you're enjoying the tours. I just finished The Bob Newhart Show and am now working on the home from Bonanza.
Fabulous tour, thanks! Beautiful work! 🌹 It resonates with me too: I was 30 I also moved into a Victorian house that was (much more informally) separated into apartments. Another perfect classic MTM design was the Hartley apartment from “The Bob Newhart Show.” It seems Suzanne Pleshette designed the bedding and started a company. It’s at 5901 N. Sheridan Rd. if you’re like me and love Google street view. An interesting comparison would be to contrast 704 Hauser (Archie and Edith Bunker) with how Mike and Gloria decorated next door when they moved in there (the former Jefferson house). A friend in New York lived in an apartment that was just like Brenda Morgenstern’s. 332 E. 64th St. (it’s actually 84th St.). I’d love a tour of the amazing Golden Girls’ house. A very eclectic and eccentric set just like them. If you’re feeling adventurous, a visit the Sheffield residence from “The Nanny.” 7 East 75th Street.

Your videos are the best for many reasons. 1) When watching videos on here or TikTok I notice the presenter gesturing wildly with their hands to emphasize every syllable as if they're conducting an orchestra, very distracting. You never do that. 2) Many presenters are "showing us" something, but end up focusing the camera on themselves half the time instead, arghhh. You focus on your actual presentation.. 3) Many presenters go on and on about "OK, let's get right into it", then they keep talking and blabbing for another 5 minutes. You actually get right into it ! 4) You really do your research, the still photos of the TV show, and your comments about items and actors in the photos, is amazing. 5) Your presentation is clear and cohesive and well thought out from start to finish. Best of all, you help me to realize that I'm not the only one who "fantasizes" about all of these sets, it really is a fascinating topic and you do a brilliant job bringing it all together for us. Thank you for sharing your talents with us, great great job !!
Another great tour! I remember these apartments so well. I also remember Rhoda was the reason I ever heard of window dressers. I would later go on to be a visual merchandiser for almost two decades and design quite a few windows along the way. All that color and props in Rhoda’s apartment absolutely enthralled me!
You made my day!!! I wanted to live in Mary's apartment, too! Oh my gosh! You are BRILLIANT!! Oh my goodness--how did I not find your channel earlier? I feel like laughing and crying at watching this.

thank you for this!

Mary’s apartment was ICONIC and felt more fabulous and upscale than it was.
It was swoon-worthy for sure.
Thanks!!
You showed that you can have just a little bit to use but still make it fabulous.

😊
....That home was for Sale, at various times ,and it was q u i te Pricey. ... in 2017, it was listed for 1.65 Million ... it was built in the 1900's and its a really large Home...I think around 9,000 + square feet.

You can see all of the other TV and movie home tours I've made here: ruclips.net/user/MarinaCoavideos?view_as=subscriber

Oh, my - I love your story. Thanks for sharing.

I even became a "visual display trainer"...(Training on the corporate level)
So you see, The Mary Tyler Moore Show is near & dear to my heart. I loved both their apartments...But to this day my home is sooooo inspired but Rhoda's bright, fun & whimsical space...(with just a bit more square footage. Lol!)
Sorry for the long comment...but I loved my work for 40+ years...it was a fabulous ride! Thank you so much for posting these 2 apartment who has inspired so many of us gals to dream (&) actually live our dreams. Peace friend. ❤💃 (BTW, As of tonight, I'm a new subscriber to your amazing channel🙂❤)
I love this so much! Thank you for sharing your story. You have gotten to live your dream. And what a fun career.
Your going to make it after all
Oh I forgot you have to toss your hat in the air
@@georgewilson1184 Oh friend, you made me giggle this beautiful Memorial day weekend! Enjoy your day!...and thank you!😄❤️
Yes, the changing of the seasons showed through Mary's window. And that built in bookcase rocked!
Love it! Thanks for sharing.
I love that you have an "etc." I've had an "M" since the show was in prime time. I need an "etc."
I miss Mary and Valerie so much❤️
❤❤❤ lived in Minneapolis for many years and loved driving past Mary's and Rhoda's apartment house. It is a beautiful home. The chain link fence around the house from the 70s in the show doesn't exist now. It is actually a swanky neighborhood. I loved the kitchen and the roll down stain glass window.
Cool that you got to see it so often. It's on my bucket list to go there someday.
Glad you liked the choices for the 4th wall. Those are always fun to come up with.
Thank you so much for this video! My heart skipped a beat when I saw the title of this episode. Another one I love is your recreation of the Parent Trap house. You've brought me hours of joy. Thank you so much!❤
Aw! Thank you. 😊
Marina! I have a new appreciation for this much beloved sit-com. I really did not fully appreciate how the set design contributed so much to the show. Thanks for your videos. When will you analyze Seinfeld's apartment?
I don't know when, but I do want to do it.
I grew up with this show and adored it, but there is so much I never noticed! Yes, I have an "M" that my dad gave me for Christmas back then. He was a fan of the show, as well.
Mary and Rhoda forever ✨❤️✨❤️✨
Imagine how many letters there are on walls because of this show. 😊
Wow! This takes me back to high school when I’d never miss an episode! I wanted to BE Mary! I’m curious now, seeing the size of her closet why she didn’t just make that a tiny bedroom…🤔
Good question. I wish the set designers were still around so I could ask my 100s of questions about the set.
Well, she did have a lot of clothes! LOL
Given the choice, I'd probably opt for a big closet over a tiny bedroom 🤔
What a treat to see Rhoda's Apartment. I have always loved her place with the vibrant colors. It is so her and she's one of my all time favorite TV characters of all time. Valarie Harper made and created her, I can't see anyone else playing that role. Thank you for this. The bookcase in Mary's living area has such a charm. I think that is what made me fall in love with that apartment. Sometimes I like to watch the show just to see this apartment. In many ways I was sad when she moved to the new apartment, but I do understand that it was about Mary Richards moving forward in her life.
I was sad when she moved to that 2nd apartment too.
Always loved that apartment, but Rhoda was always my favorite character! I love quirky! I would love to see ‘That 70s Show ‘ homes. Both the Foreman’s and Pinciatti’s. I grew up in that era and love that 70s vibe! Love, love your channel!
Thank you. And thanks for the suggestion!😊
Yes do the seventies home shows! All that avocado green and burnt orange LOL!
You did an amazing job. Being a huge MTM Show fan since I was a kid in the 1970s, your interpretation of Mary’s apartment is perfection. The only thing I didn’t see was Mary’s distinctive white luggage set.
I should have added that. Glad youiked the tour. You can see all of the other TV and movie home tours I've made here: ruclips.net/user/MarinaCoavideos?view_as=subscriber

Mary Tyler Moore was an amazing actress and a great role model for everyone
Another great job, i also wondered how cold Rhoda apartment was especially since they were in Minnesota 🥶 how about the farm house from Green Acres? I know it was part of the plot but it always bugged me they never fixed up the house. It would be cool if you showed it as it was on the show then how it could've been if they fixed it up.
Interesting that you should say that, because that's exactly what I plan to do. 😊
@@merriemisfit8406 😅🤣😂
Sure they tried to fix it but Alf and Ralph Monroe weren't the best contractors.
I’ve rewatched the series and yes the apartment was like another character in the show! Beautiful. Please do the Partridge Family house.
I like the way you stated that - the apartment was like another character. 😊
I will definitely be doing The Partridge Family home.

That house is impossible. I want to explore it someday. I made a tour of the main floor, but haven't ventured upstairs yet.
This is fantastic and the one thing I always liked about Mary’s apartment was the kitchen❤
And yes she was a role model of a decent lady, that’s independent and enjoying her journey…🌹😎
A WONDERFUL Memory lane❤
The apartment from 'That Girl!'

Thank you so much for this!🌹😎
They were both great characters!

I can not tell you HOW MUCH I LOVE your videos, your creativity, and your love of MTM and Rhida!!! And the DVD Show!!!!
I wish you were my next door neighbor, so I we could talk about and watch the MTMS!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
How about doing the interior of the Raymond's house....they have WAAAAAY too many toys.
I looooove that show and plan on making a tour of it someday.
Thank you for the video! If you ever get the inkling I would love to see South Fork. I know it would be a challenge, but I've always loved that home, and the show lol. Again thank you!
I'll probably get there someday!
You really brought it to life.
I love Mary, and Rhoda.

Beautiful job. This is one of the most famous houses, in sitcom history.
Thank you. I agree. And judging by the comments, we're not alone.

I didn't know that. Thanks.

Glad you liked it. I sure had fun making this one.
Right now, kids are living their midcentury modern style, but maybe thr next generation will adopt the 70s as their favorite.

Glad you liked the tour. I love how many stories there are in these comments about how the show had an influence in people's lives. 🥰

Good job, Marina. This brings back so many memories.
I'm an architecture nut and I remember as a kid it used to drive me bananas that there was obviously not room for many of the rooms and things in TV homes and apartments. Thank you for pointing out when something is not physically possible. But, it's TV and we enjoy it anyway,
I appreciate your doing this hard work so we can see what we thought about a lot and bringing these great old shows back to us in 3-D.

Hi! Would love to see any of the homes featured in any movie director Nancy Myers...her sets are amazing! Thank you!...And have a fabulous Memorial day weekend!🇺🇸❤💃
Yes! I love her sets. 😍
Very nicely done. 👍🏽
I was two years old when the show premiered, but my mom and grandmother watched from the start.
I watched, but didn't understand it like they did. 😄
As time went on to when I was older and watched the old episodes in my teens, I fell in love with the fashions worn by Mary, Phyllis and Rhoha. 😲
My grandmother was extremely talented when it came to designing and sewing clothes, and she was always very stylish with original designs, or her take on a well-known designer's work.
When I first saw Phyllis and Bess dressed alike, it was cool to see and reminded me of my mom and myself.🙂
Mary often reminded me of my grandmother.
I love this! Thanks for sharing. I can picture it all.

You did an amazing job with these 2 apartments. I love your channel.
Thank you! I'm working on The Bob Newhart Show apartment right now.
Glad you liked the tour. I'm currently working on the apartment and office from The Bob Newhart Show. Thanks for your suggestions of homes to do in the future.
