Not much difference but I'll go with the Epi

I get a really good discount at my job with Gibsons. I played 3 Gibson standards and 2 Epiphones one was the Classic. I left with the Epiphone Classic and I have zero regrets. That thing has become my favorite guitar. I did change out the bridge for a Wilkinson but other than that the thing just slams. Great comparison btw. Very informative

You're doing a great job rocking the LP! Although, I couldn't really tell the difference, lol.

Get want you can afford and makes you happy.
My level of playing doesn’t warrant a 3,000.00 LesPaul but a 1,000.00 yes all day.
And they look and feel good.
I’ve had an Epi Custom for over 20 years and it’s still my favorite

I’ve been playing guitar for 30 years I’m not a musician I just love music and playing guitar. I play by ear I was honestly never a big fan of Les paul .I know sounds crazy right but I was in a pawnshop and seen the Epiphone classic Matt black I think they call it Worn. It was an absolutely mint condition. I picked it up played around with it not even plugged in and I purchased it. I got it for $260 out the door I could not pass it up.love the video you captured the true essence of both and there is a noticeable difference in tonality between them but I’m not disappointed with the budget version.

The cleans sounded MUCH better on the Gibson. Fuller, with more body. Just a better tone altogether.
The split coils is better (or let's say more drastic) on the Epiphone. The Gibson still sounds like a LP, just sligtly thinner. Basically, nothing you can't get with a quick EQ adjustment. On the Epi it truly changes the character of the tone.
With distortion... they're both pretty much the same. Slight difference, but for any intent and purpose... it's the same.
Love that cherry colour and the gloss in the Gibson though. However, i wouldn't pay the price premium... not because the Gibson is not worth it, but because I don't need the extra. I'd rather have an Epi LP Classic AND a Custom, Standard or Studio and it's still less $$ than a single Gibson Classic.

Between the great amps and your accomplished playing ability... Both guitars sound equally great... The Gibson has a slight more grunt or good rasp ... But overall both are great guitars!

There is a difference but it's pretty minimal imo. For professionals though I can see why they'd choose the Gibson to get that specific sound but for everyone else idk why you wouldn't just go with the Epiphone and invest the money in other gear

i wish more people would realize that woods and pickup types really don't matter when it comes to high gain mixes. the signal chain is the most important piece and its often overlooked because people believe marketing and guitarists use their eyes to play instead of the ears...

I’d say Signal Chain and Feel/Inspiration. You could have the best working signal chain… but an uncomfortable guitar. The performance would suffer. Comfort and preference can have MANY different price points and can also be psychosomatic. As far as recording signals… I generally start with an inspiring guitar and then move on to whatever amp head works best for what I’m looking to do. Then build from there. Cheers -Ryan

@Crypticmaskguitar exactly! I've always hated tone snobs honestly, especially being a history major I've realized technically not alot truly is American made dependening on the definition used. Most if not all parts are outsourced and the instruments have outside origins to the land of the United States so does that really make gibson a USA made guitar? The woods, parts and machinery I guarantee aren't all American so just play what you like and stop caring about what others think. I've owned Martin's, gibsons and other boutique guitars but I love my eastman e20d and I recently ordered a epiphone greeny.

Wasn’t aware that they released an Epiphone Greeny. I thought for sure I would have bought the Gibson version, but can’t get past the fact that it has a satin finish. Is the Epiphone version Poly Gloss or satin? Cheers -Ryan

@Crypticmaskguitar I'm guessing it's poly but usually I take a green scotch Brite pad and rub mine down then polish the little swirls put for a satin finish. They aren't officially announced yet but they will be released soon. They even have a gibson headstock!

let me finish the difference: Gibson, an investment product, 2nd hand still worth a lot, even higher than original.
Epiphone, just a tool, not an investment product. lol

Not enough of a difference between the two to justify going for the Gibson unless you're investing imho. Just bought an Epi Les Paul Classic in Heritage Cherry Red, £2000 difference in the UK between the two. Sound virtually identical to my ears but the financial situation has to be taken into account for us mere mortals. Plus Gibson obviously has the coil tapping feature as opposed to the coil splitting feature of the Epiphone

I had a Epiphone Classic 2020 and I can hear there’s virtually no audio difference. A $3.5k Gibson isn’t worth it, for me.
