In this tutorial I show you how I kitbashed two new members for my Primaris only Space Marine Kill Team. A Primaris Scout and a Heavy Intercessor.

That's always something I've always felt somewhat disappointed about with space marine design, they are these big bulky badass warriors in the lore but the models are kinda wimpy in comparison, kit bashing is where that saves them though as you can kit bash some extremely heavy marines that fit the lore more accurately.

@@PeteTheWargamer Thinking of doing something similar for my female primaris Space Wolf successors, with the new(ish) female Goliath bits. Plus lots of fur and an axe or two, of course. Really nice video!
@@Lochtain If there was any chapter that (lore wise) would start having female space marines it would be the space wolves and any successors as the wolves follow a very Norse theme and the Norse didn't really care whether you were male or female as long as you could fight.
@@vralingfrostmere1561 That is incorrect but ok. Women fought in rare occasions in defense of their homes and should be commended for that but don't put forward a hollywood distortion of history as some kind of justification for your creative decisions. If you want to make a non cannon chapter that is fine, many do and play on the tabletop just fine.

What a beautiful kill team. Nailing the theme of the raptors and the game while keeping each model unique enough to stand out from its teammates. Would love to see you do other kill teams, especially a xenos one.
That's the plan! Once I've finished off these guys I'd love to tackle something like a Tau Kill Team.

Please do consider an Ork Kill Team also!! Can use many parts from other boxes, and wear them on their armor as a trophy or such!!

Please do a tutotial on how you paint shaved heads. The fades you give these marines is criminally good
It's really quite simple. I paint the head with as per usual and just use some of the Space Wolves Grey contrast paint. I thin it down with some Lahmian Medium and apply a couple of very thin layers.

I still think you should get some Anvil Industries bits. They have so many "tactical" bits that would suit these guys to a tee. Pouches, pouched chests, pouched shoulders, trench hawks, Kukris, combat knives, scopes, sights, foregrips, bayonets, PEQ's, drum mags, night vision goggles and all sorts of practical bits for conversions.
Can confirm! I use anvil industries, reptilian overlords, and a few cults3d bits for my Raptors and the stowage on their vehicles.
@@johnnytizz Cults3d don't make parts. Its a marketplace for creators to share and sell their 3d models. Its also a great place to find people to commission custom pieces from.

Goliath Gangers make great True Scale Scouts. I used the Goliath's complete body (as the boilerplate armour looked okay to me as Carapace Armour). I gave mine a Scion's beret head, a combat blade and boltgun. I really like the way that you attached your bolter to this Scout.
That Heavy is sooooo much a Terran Marine; he looks fantastic. I really like the way that the new Space Marine decals go on to minis; and the Scout's skull-tat' is a great touch, and I like his unhealthy skin tone.
That scout really reminds me of the classic 2000's era catachan arm scouts you'd see on the B&C forum. Great builds and thanks for confirming the alternative arm size for me :D
I just imagine the heavy with that face last words would be:
"We all make it sooner or later. Better get going, Six, they're gonna need you down there. Listen, Reach has been good to me. Time has come to return the favor. Don't deny me this."

Combining a goliath with a space marine in order to make a scout is simply genius! The result is really amazing!
I love primaris scouts, I made myself a bunch from the Palanite Enforcer kit.
I only learned about warhammer a few weeks back. The stories are fun to have playing in the background at times. Your attention to detail is like me when I was a gunsmith. Everything has to be perfect. Exact. Flawless.

As like you said, that the Heavy Intercessor reminds of the Starcraft Marines, a cigar in his mouth would have made e nice easter egg detail ;-)
You use a scalpel as a swiss army knife of tools, I would have used foam sticks, diamond files, cuticle clippers and all sorts but you just do it all with one tool, it's impressive.
Haha, thank you. Honestly, it's just laziness. I got used to using the scalpel for everything rather than digging out my other tools 😂
These are Frick'n gorgeous, I was toying with the idea of making the Raptors my next chapter but now I'm certain of it, fantastic work dude.

Thank you. That's why I like to paint them, I think it helps to give people a better idea of what I intended them to look like.
To the point about helmetless heads being a contradiction, it makes sense even outside the obvious rule of cool. If you've ever done HEMA or LARPing, a heavy helmet ruins your senses. It's hard to hear, near impossible to speak, you can't see to your sides, and it's harder to move your head. Your head is actually a pretty small target, and most of the time isn't at risk. It's why historically helmets with visors became so popular, and why modern combat helmets tend not to have face plates: a metal cap is plenty of protection, and you only need to cover your face in specific situations. You can argue a Space Marine helmet is full of sophisticated sensors, but it's all proportional because the Space Marine has super-human senses too. Better to avoid danger in the first place than rely on the armor.
View restrictions don't apply to space marine helmets. Those aren't eye holes, there are optical sensors behind those "glass" plates. The helmet hooks into the black carapace system. A marine doesn't use their own eyes to see what is around them while wearing the helmets. You bring up the super human senses making the loss of the advanced sensors not a problem, and while marines can see just fine in the dark, the helmet offers multi-spectrum imaging options beyond simple night vision.
Tactical Librarian or Chaplain seems like the next obvious picks-- I'm super curious how they'd turn out in this style
This kind of makes me want to try and recreate Noble Team from Halo: Reach in a kill team

I saw similar primaris scouts on the Blood Angels reddit (the madlad even used genestealer parts), and I must say a primaris scout does sound good to me - someone who hates regular scouts with a passion! Well done
I'm super into the kill team logs. I'd also love to see some more scout conversions with the goliath bits. I'd like to see how you tackle all those super-wide, tactical pooping legs as I've had some trouble with them.

With the release of Pariah Nexus a Scout Sgt equipped with a Combi-plasma and Astartes ahainsword is only 15pts...
The conversion work is superb as always and I really like how the armor transitions from burnt sienna to olive drab, shadows to highlights. Great stuff.

Damn that Primaris Scout looks hella cool! It really fits as a great update to the OG scout mini too! Add some Phobos shoulderpads onto him and I imagine he'd even resemble the SM Scout artworks better than the OG mini!
oh and aside from Doom Slayer vibes, he's also giving off some Gears of War COG soldier vibes as well! Damn probably just me but I'd personally had loved to see him with a standard primaris helmet on! Really great job on the both of them again, Pete!

Awesome conversion. I love the idea of a space marine kill team being fitted around their chapter. So far I've only done Imperial Fists and a few home brew chapters. Going to be really interesting to see where you take this Raptors Kill Team further, personally I'd be quite interested to see the Raptors interpretation of a Suppressor. As for chapter kill team conversions in the future, here's ones I would suggest:
-Executioners
-Mantis Warriors
-Red Scorpions
-Carcharodons
-Loyalist traitors, (one of the traitor legions if they had remained loyal, such as the Sons of Horus/Luna Wolves, Alpha Legion, Night Lords)
-Lamenters
-A Black Shield Kill Team
-Ashen Claws
-Exorcists
-Star Phantoms
-Flesh Easters
-Flesh Tearers
-Nemesis Chapter
Really inspiring. I love the StarCraft vibe too.
This Team is incredible, these figures are more realistic than the classic SM, no skulls or similar.
For an alternative to GS I use a mix of CA glue+ Tamiya's white putty, for little gaps works very well

These are looking really impressive. Just that simple Inceptors face shield really added to the look of the heavy armour. Stripped down armour for scouting that is not Phobos worked well here.

You've just got to keep practicing with it, I've been doing this kind of thing for nearly 20years now and I've made most of my progress in the last couple of them.
i never builded a killteam of spacemarines,. but your work got me thinking also to build a team, i do have harlequins and genestealer cultist for killteam but never used my Crimsen Fists for killteam. but now i will for sure
I really like that primaris scout job, I might have to make some for my own Deathwatch force because I've been trying to go a bit scout-heavy to fit their role as specialists. Technically Deathwatch don't have access to scouts but I've just been running them as their regular units wearing artificer scout armor.

I'm loving these kinds of builds. I like that fact it's a full force for a game and not just a one off model.
It would be fun to see you make some other killteams like this with more dramatic conversion like a skaven geanstealer cult/admech or tyranids that are a little less buggy.
