If I am only connecting my smart thermostat to my central air unit bc my heater has its in thermostat do I have to connect the c adapter directly to the air conditioner?
I couldn't get it working with just C and K. I tested C and R and got 24 V so figured that the C-wire adapter gave me four wires out, my thermostat has slots for those four wires, CRWK, may as well connect them all 😀 Everything is working fine now 😀 In hindsight it's a short and easy run, I should've just ran another wire down to forego the C-wire adapter but meh, it's working, this guide at least helped me feel more comfy. Thanks!
My existing thermostat only has red, blue, and white connected. The yellow and green wires are there, but not connected to the existing thermostat. Should I connect these to my amazon thermostat?
Trying to be simplistic only works if everything is as you think it should be. It would be understandable better if you explained the PURPOSE of each wire.
how do you connect the c adapter if you only have 2 wires in the thermostat? white and red? where the hell do you connect yellow and red to in the c adapter and its wires to where and same with at the thermostat? super confusing. heat only system
The end of the video does not make sense to myself and apparently many others who have commented. It stays to only connect 2 wires of the 4 you started with. Please pin a comment to the top of the comment thread, that has the proper instructions for the last steps of connecting wires.
Not an expert but clearly you have 2 options: 1- either need a C wire adapter to be added to your furnace side or 2- Run a new 5-wire cable (R-B (or C)- Y-W-G = each letter corresponding color except W or white that is C) from the controller to the furnace, using the old wire to fish it in (by checking to pull and see if the old wire is free between the two points).
It’s all fun and games until your furnace doesn’t have a mother board…
So you don’t have to connect the white and red wires to the thermostat end? I feel like I’m. It gonna get an answer😔
So they went with HONEYWELL. Interesting.
So I can run a new five-wire by using the old cable to fish in if I don't want to get a C adapter?

Hi, can i just use one c wire adapter to connect multiple smart thermostats , one for each floor in the house?
Do i still need connect R and W wire to a R and w? Or leave them unconnected ? This is a little confusing
great question... did you figure it out? I believe R and W will still need to be connected right ?
My air conditioner don't have a y labeled wire how I has an F label

i have the same question
How if I don't move the Y wire to the K terminal, and let it stay on Y, will the unit still working properly?

What about R and W wires?!
So I don’t need to connect the BLUE wire at the thermostat???
No. Thats what the adapter is for.
Bird Person?

Did you figure it out?
