Well, this axe is unlikely to be used for its intended purpose, it is very old and made of very bad iron. So with difficulty I cleaned off the rust and preserved it with tannin and wax. Will be a new item in my collection.
Please use 20% citric acid solution. 24 hours of lying in the solution will remove rust. If you need a protective layer, you can boil it in citric acid 3-4 times, removing rust residue with a cloth. It hurts to look at the ax sagging in the water.
Amazing restoration 👏👍🪓 Congratulations and Greetings from Belgium 😉🇧🇪🖐️
LOOKIN' GOOD, NICE WORK
End result looks good! But I'm curious why you used an acid soak to remove the rust vs electrolysis?
Fantastic work, dude! It really turned out great! 😃
I've never seen an axe like that! But it seems to work great!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I like what you did with the handle better than the head, but as a show piece it is well done.
