Two weeks ago I installed OS X Mavericks on my 2014 13" MacBook Pro just to experiment with it and holy shit that OS runs like a breeze and looks so pretty. Finding, downloading and installing compatible versions of apps is quite a process but feels like a reward at the end. The skeumorphic design will always have a special place in my heart, Apple did it flawlessly and the whole OS just looks so welcoming. Great video!
having a fully up to date web browser definitely will breathe more life into old hardware, thats just what Chromebooks are. Thats. really cool that there was a version of chromium that worked on this OS
i think Snow Leopard is the most beautiful. that glossy mirrored dock was incredible. i wasn't a mac user but i remember being fascinated by my friend's leopard iMac back in primary school.
Personally I'm a big Snow Leopard enjoyer as I prefer the folder look and the clear glass shelf of it over Mavericks. Skeuomorphic design is peak. Frutiger Aero is perfection IMO, but OSX skeuromorphic design is great too :) Fun video!
This was my first OS lol.. I always wondered why I loved skeuomorphism so much even though I didn't grow up with windows 7, (although its my preferred windows now) and you just dug up a ton of memories. So thanks!
i just thrifted a early 2013 15' retina MacBook Pro yesterday and after insane amounts of issues getting into Internet Recovery, i got it running Mountain Lion! i was stoked to find something newer than my mid-2009 13' that still supports older software :D i just need to get some onto it from my 2009 as currently only Chromium Legacy is installed.
Correction: even though Mavericks retains the design language used in Mountain Lion, it isn't skeuomorphic. Actually, Mavericks was when some of the skeuomorphic elements were starting to get removed, since this release came at the same time as iOS 7. Calendar lost its leather, Contacts no longer looks like a phone book, Notes looks... ugly, all areas that used to have the linen background texture are now fully devoid of it, I could go on. Skeuomorphism is when you design a user interface to resemble its real life counterpart. The save icon being a floppy disk for example is a skeuomorph. macOS releases that predated Mavericks, especially Lion and Mountain Lion, were full of them, so were the first 6 releases of iOS. I hope I taught you something.
Compared to yosemite it still contained large amounts of skeuomorphism like in photo-booth and other apps, But i do see your point considering they diled things back and made it abit more simple in mavericks. Thank you for the comment and watching!!
I have an old 2008 Unibody MacBook that has an older 1TB drive that once was an external drive. Put that in and installed OS X 10.8 up to 10.11 and Windows 7. Very nice revisiting the older OS versions again, the first OS X I used personally was 10.6 Snow Leopard :D
I used to use Mavericks on my Surface through a VM, because I loved its style, and because I found Preview to be so much better than any PDF app on Windows - faster, smoother, and with better features. So I would just boot up the vm to read PDFs essentially.
Your tech videos are amazing but I saw your thumbnails need some improvement if you improve them you can grab more attention 😊 and I would love to help you to improve them I can give you a trial and if you like it I can make more for you Waiting for your response 😊 and if

1:04 I'd like to add that I made a version of yosemite that had the mavericks ui ported to it
where can i download it?
I was a MASSIVE fan of OS X Snow Leopard as I had one of those white plastic MacBooks passed down to me from my grandma.

@fennecRBX Yosemite in comparison completely changed the art style.
It just wasn't concurrent with iOS 7 because they didn't have enough time.
me watching this video while using os x mavericks: "holy shit im not alone!!"
I like how the discord icon looks different on this old os

Ngl mountain lion and mavericks were absolute peak in terms of design
Dankpods spotted, W
It's a shame Apple makes it so difficult to obtain Mavericks.

Mac OS X Mavericks it’s also not bad operating system but for me the best operating system which I still use today is Mac OS X Snow Leopard.
