@@Darren_Martin that is so true definitely but you can't really find a DD for under 400 so being able to get the wheel pedals and a shifter for the price is good for entry level imo I haven't been able to use a DD either so I'm sure if I had would be more likely to agree with you definitely just my opinion
I've owned my G29 & H pattern shifter for around 5+ years . Bought a wheel stand, made a seat box from wood around the house & a car seat donated by a friend . Have about $400 dollars invested & am not disappointed at all.
One thing I like about the G29 is how compatible it is with most driving, sim racing, casual games. Even new developers tune their games based on this wheel. It even works well with PS5. Other manufacturers might have the advanced direct drive tech but no point if your hardware is not supported in many games.
I "upgraded" to a moza r3 from the g29. Been going super hard on gt4 spec II in pcsx2 lately and the moza fucking sucks for that purpose. Actually boxed it back up today and I'm going to sell it on marketplace. I don't consider myself a sim racer despite having a rig and wheel/pedals. Racing is like ~25% of my overall gaming. Moza hardware is great but game support and software kinda sucks. Pit house stayed in Chinese language after I selected English lol. Thank God for google translate camera mode.
Im really cheap so i was able to find a used g29 for $100. I really wanted to try it out and my work was throwing away a lot of 80/20 and they let me keep it. I built myself a rig for free, i paid $100 for the g29. $45 for the shifter and $60 for a junkyard seat. And i made an ebrake out of a keyboard that was getting thrown away at work, and old rubber mallet handle and some other stuff from the trash at my job. I think if you want to try it out and not spend a ton of money this is the perfect starter wheel. Yes there are nicer wheels but you have to start somewhere.
The G29 is still a Fantastic Wheel in 2024, for those considering getting a wheel don't be put off it's definitely the best bang for buck you can have you don't need to pay a fortune for other wheels these perform very well with awesome feedback. These days where Games from both PS5 & XBox cost an absolute fortune it's an Awesome Buy providing thousands of hours of play. Highly recommend!
I'm still using my old G27 to this day and never fail to amaze me and still working perfectly it also did improve my sim experience compare to controller, it's just recently i order direct drive set simply because they have option that more affordable nowadays but still cost twice than my G27. Picked up the the G923 during Black Friday and can place in the top 5-10% lap times in Forza as a casual 1 hour a night sim racer. Start with this and after 6 months or a year if you still enjoy racing then upgrade and keep this for a second setup for friends or the kiddos.

I bought the G920 back in 2014. This wheel reached 3000 hours of hard sim racing in 2024. Online leagues championships, countless practice laps. It's been a workhorse for 10 years and counting. Sadly i retired from sim racing 3 years ago. And retired my trusty G920 on the shelf collecting dust. I still bringing her down from time to time to do some laps. Thank you G920 for the 10 years of podiums, pole positions, smiles and amazing battles on the track. Farewell. Highly recommended for anyone starting now. It's a great entry wheel.
Still worth it, but there are probably many perfectly good used ones out there that you could get between $100-150. I know ours is 2 years old and still works perfectly, but it is sitting on a shelf because we upgraded to a G Pro DD wheel and pedal set.

Great video I just wish console wheel base prices were equal to pc wheel bases the face fanatec is charging far more the Playstation compatible wheel bundles for over 700 is sad when the pc prices are around 300 to 500 which is a big difference
Use it as an entry model. Or use it in the console. I think it's well worth it. In particular, I think Logitech's lack of options is good for beginners as they can feel free to buy other companies' products when they step up.
I went withthe T300 RS for the start and still feel like its superior to the gear driven Logitech. Now im with a Asetek Setup which is in a completely different league, but also way more expensive
When I got my G29 new it cost me £189 without the shifter and then covid lockdowns happen and the price shot up and I never seen it come down to what it was pre pandemic which is a shame as if you can find this wheel for £200 or less then its worth it as this wheel is basically supported by every game that supports a wheel
I have a G923 for a deal I couldn’t pass up on. Paired it with the Logitech pro pedals and been having a blast with it. Plus my kids play on my rig from time to time so it’s a plus
As someone who enjoys having full control when driving. Compared to holding my equipment in place because the setup is not strong enough. I have spent money making the playseat challenge stronger as I don’t have space for a profile rig. I’ve ordered 3d raps GGKit, anyway have a nice day
If you are on PC, there is absolutely no reason not to go with Cammus C5 bundle which also includes the pedals and on top of that get a desk clamp if you plan to use the wheel on a desk (you probably do if you are considering an entry level wheel). That's $330 total for a DD wheel, pedals and desk clamp. G29/920 are fine if you are on a console.
Why do people keep doing this? 'Yeah if your new to the hobby why arnt you spending 150 extra for this instead? I know its double the cost but you have no excuse'
@@deezboyeed6764 150 extra is nothing when it comes to sim racing, especially if it gives you a DD wheel instead of a gear driven one. Some people spend more than $1000 just for the sim gear. So in comparison $330 is not that bad.
I love the video my friend. I have the g29 and i love it so much. I wear racing gloves because my hands broke out in blisters. Not sure why but this will not stop me from racing. Love the video
If you got it complete with the PlayChair for Christmas as a hand me down from your cousin who just upgraded to a Fanatec setup, yes, absolutely worth it.
It’s a fantastic entry wheel to this day. Best bang for the buck. Keep an eye on the Logitech refurbished store. They put the G29 on sale often. I got one a couple of months ago for $129. It arrived all but indistinguishable from a new one, completely packaged like new, without so much as a scuff mark. It’s hard to find well used ones for that price. I wouldn’t spend any more than that on a wheel and pedal set without making the jump to direct drive. The mid range $300-400, non DD wheels aren’t worth the jump over the G29 for their very modest improvements. Get the G29, and if you get the sim racing bug, put the $300 saved aside toward a direct drive upgrade down the road.
I got my g923 from second hand few months ago for 150euro and bought new shifter for 50. Also bought shifter mods for 10-15euros, making it stiffer and with longer shiftknob. Also aliexpress handbrake for 60euro and i am pretty happy with my setup. For sure, its human nature to want more, and I will upgrade my rig with DD wheel in future mos def, but as a starter - this wheel is great. Probably not for 300 tho when u can buy cammus c5 for simmilar price. Anyway, search for logitech wheels from second hand and you will not regret it.

the dial on the front I found only works good in Gran Turismo games I found as every other game I have tried it in I dont like it and just avoid using it or mapping any controls to it.
hey i have a question for someone to ask. Can the steering wheel mount easy to like a ottoman? I have my PS5 in my living room and i like it there so im wondering.
Ouch, I got my G29 last year on sale for $200 USD, plus a $20 off coupone, so $180 total, then the logitech shifter brand new for about $50 USD, all had free shipping direct from the Logitech website. Then I got some gmod UK mods for the pedals, shifter, and driving wheel, cost about $40-50 total USD I think cuz I got it during a Holiday sale where it was mostly 20-25% off for everything.
Having owned a couple g29, and even changed the wheel on one, i don't recommend it. Get something cheap with no force feedback, and if you like racing, then get a direct drive. The gear mechanism is loud and not smooth. The most important thing, is having load cell pedals. You can race without force feedback, but you can't race without proper brake inputs. Get a load cell brake and a cheap wheel, and upgrade the wheel later. Get the g29, only if you find it very cheap used.
Lucky you, is that in the US? I'm ordering brand new one from Hungary and the G29 alone is around $250 without shifter, the shifter is $53 .-. Although the used one i saw with the shifter was altogether at $250, pricey!
Simply take out the rubber stopper, close the air outlet hole of the lower sleeve with a screw and hot glue, place a thin rubber seal in the outer groove of the lower sleeve and grease it well. The air in the sleeve is now compressed when actuated and the brake can be actuated precisely. Cost: 10 cents!!! And yes, you can still buy a Logitechwheel without hesitation...
If you want the wheel to work with every driving game Id always go with my G29 alot of the indie drifting games dont reconize the Moza R5 had to swap to a Moza R9 so even more money just to get em to work
I think the logitech g29 is a great wheel. with a few modifications and a little money it can improve considerably, for example I modified mine to connect more realistic steering wheels and it works very well. for me it remains the best entry level on the market.
@aezakmi3314 not an american, ended up with some thrustmaster pedals for now instead of second hand wheel, also the cable is not replaceable. And why u answering after 8 months?
@@truphot1 idk,im just saying fixing them would take be about 15 min.,in europe we have a tradition to fix everything rather than buying new stuff, that is what i was trying to say
Those logitechs are actually toys, all plastic and forcefeedback is weird, you allways wonder if those forces has something to do with the actual game. Had g920 for years and just some time ago bought second hand fanatec and I could never imagine go back to plastic toys.
I use moza r5 on my ps5 with the ras1lution converter. It works great and it’s so affordable. I use with with VR and it’s ridiculous the amount of feedback and immersion.
I got lucky I started sim racing a year ago I was given the logitech g29 by a childhood friend and wow it's was amazing few months after I bought my first dd wheel the fanatec gt dd pro and my goodness. But as for the g29 I feel like its a good starter wheel for the weaker force feedback but not at the current price I would try to find a refurbished.
I really don't like the G29 / G920, mainly because I think it is hurting competition in the entry level segment. I wish new simracers would get a better experience for their 300 dollars. For that price it should be possible to make something either belt or direct drive that would be so much better to use. The G29 looks alright, but the force feedback is absolutely terrible. Even ignoring the low max force it is loud, rattly, imprecise and slow. That slowness makes it very unrealistic if you are used to driving in real life, especially for drifting. TL/DR: People should stop buying these so that Logitech is forced to finally ditch that horrible gear driven system and make something that can compete with cheap DD or belt driven wheels.
i bought a g923 for 80 bucks brand new he used it 1x. even had the sticker in the middle still on it lol 0 wear on pedals/steering wheel, dude had a baby and had to sell his toys. then i got a playseat for 110dollars evulution pro project cars 3. and i had to buy a shifter myself. for 50 bucks. so i would say i made out a hell of a deal. and i'm happy with it. but a direct drive would have been sicker. but no shoot i would get that for the less then 300 dollars tho :( with pedals/shifter.

In the us, where i live cost 150$ but in 3rd world countries it costs from 300$ to 400$ thats just crazy
Got the G29 for just shy of $160 USD with shifter. Worth it. Of course it was used but superb condition. Even cosmetically looked near flawless.
Lucky you, is that in the US? I'm ordering brand new one from Hungary and the G29 alone is around $250 without shifter, the shifter is $53 .-. Although the used one i saw with the shifter was altogether at $250, pricey!
I've got the wheel, pedals plus the shifter and with Astro A10 headset for 330 euros in 2022 summer.
The brake springs are changeable aswell
Yeah I did a mods video showing that 👌
@@GeekStreet yeah I was just surprised you didn't give it a tiny mention
Simply take out the rubber stopper, close the air outlet hole of the lower sleeve with a screw and hot glue, place a thin rubber seal in the outer groove of the lower sleeve and grease it well. The air in the sleeve is now compressed when actuated and the brake can be actuated precisely. Cost: 10 cents!!!
And yes, you can still buy a Logitechwheel without hesitation...
If you want the wheel to work with every driving game Id always go with my G29 alot of the indie drifting games dont reconize the Moza R5 had to swap to a Moza R9 so even more money just to get em to work
'G29' great review!! thanks!
🤩
Here in my country this wheel is very popular bec the cost of DD is very high even the cheapest DD models.
can you rev match with this?
I think the logitech g29 is a great wheel. with a few modifications and a little money it can improve considerably, for example I modified mine to connect more realistic steering wheels and it works very well. for me it remains the best entry level on the market.
my g29 pedals dont work anymore, their cable got destroyed even though i didnt use it for some months ill probably buy a new wheel soon
@@aezakmi3314 its not a normal cable though, would have fixed it but the cable didnt ship to here when i chcked
They raised the price on their website to 500$, the Moza R5 bundle costs the same
Those logitechs are actually toys, all plastic and forcefeedback is weird, you allways wonder if those forces has something to do with the actual game. Had g920 for years and just some time ago bought second hand fanatec and I could never imagine go back to plastic toys.
Yup is my first wheel and is definitely still worth it to me
thanks for the review
Does the g29 work on ps5
Mine is coming in tomorrow, its my first wheel and I cannot wait at all
I use moza r5 on my ps5 with the ras1lution converter. It works great and it’s so affordable. I use with with VR and it’s ridiculous the amount of feedback and immersion.
So should you recommend this because I’m looking for a direct drive wheel for ps5
@@ransomsdp yes highly recommend. You need the ras1lution adapter though
Mine looks so different now due to modding... i love my custom rim.
Maybe in a year or two ill upgrade.
Absolute solid bulletproof beginner wheel
I got lucky I started sim racing a year ago I was given the logitech g29 by a childhood friend and wow it's was amazing few months after I bought my first dd wheel the fanatec gt dd pro and my goodness. But as for the g29 I feel like its a good starter wheel for the weaker force feedback but not at the current price I would try to find a refurbished.
i think im just gonna get a t300rs gt
got mine for just 200 bucks! brand new as well
🤯
so was it ya daft bstd?
you should review the pxn v12
Currently on sale Am azon Prime £170 Got one to replace my old Driving Force Pro.
Why TF would you turn a wheel 2 1/2 times around?
If you dont have a higher budget, it is worth it. It is solid for its price.
TL/DR: People should stop buying these so that Logitech is forced to finally ditch that horrible gear driven system and make something that can compete with cheap DD or belt driven wheels.
was it then?
so your verdict is get the more expensive wheel but then you said those are only for PC
I got mine for 180$ on amazon prime day worth it
i bought a g923 for 80 bucks brand new he used it 1x. even had the sticker in the middle still on it lol 0 wear on pedals/steering wheel, dude had a baby and had to sell his toys. then i got a playseat for 110dollars evulution pro project cars 3. and i had to buy a shifter myself. for 50 bucks. so i would say i made out a hell of a deal. and i'm happy with it. but a direct drive would have been sicker. but no shoot i would get that for the less then 300 dollars tho :( with pedals/shifter.
'G29' tnx for the video, im yet to buy my first racing wheel so i'm just collecting opinions cheers!
🤩
I think if you can get it 2nd hand, for cheap, it's definitely worth it!
'G29'
Thanks for the comprehensive review
I Love G29 my dream wheel
Love you from Sri Lanka beruwala ❤
