William Magee one of the most flip floppy, illegitimate takes I’ve ever seen on not just music, but any sort of argument. “It’s good but it’s still s***” is not an opinion, it’s a flawed and vague statement based off of trying to agree with needledrop, even if it throws out any sort of self through or examination. Just say you disagree, stop trying to add words to make your terrible take seem like it’s more intelligent than it actually is.
William Magee the whole album he uses women as kind of a metaphor for fame, an example being when he says “i could have me a good girl and still be addicted to the hood rats”, meaning i could have a stable carrer and still want the controversy. The first part of “runaway” is what kanye sounds like in his head/his intentions, and the last 3 minutes are what he sounds like to the public/the media. The guitar solo in “devil in a new dress” is one of the highlights of the album, and there wasn’t any singing on the song, so idk how you’re gonna say the vocals arent good. The 4:00 minute mark on “hell of a life” is one of my favorite moments in music history, along with the 2:20 mark on “lost in the world”. Kanyes verse on “lost in the world” was actually a poem he wrote to kim, but he uses it as a double entendre to finish the album basically saying that fame was both “heaven and hell” for him. “So appalled” has some of the best guest verses on the entire album, plus the beat is 🔥. Blame game is probably the only song on the album i think is particularly boring, but thats not saying its a bad song. All in all your reasons for disliking the second leg of the album are plagued ignorance and by melons opinion.

Runway and Blame Game are such disappointing tracks. Runaway is great up until those 3 minutes of garbage distorted vocals. It wouldn't be bad if it was for like a minute but it drags on for so goddamn long.
It's pretty much the same for Blame Game, it's good up until that terrible tone ruining Chris Rock call that isn't even funny. To be honest I don't even like the track before that. Its cool but it gets pretty repetitive. I also don't like Kanye's vocals on it. Runaway avoids this problem by actually evolving throughout the song. It's just too bad those ending 3 minutes are a thing.
I can see enjoying Hell of a Life if I'm really in the mood for it but it gets sort of boring (which is surprising with those absurd lyrics). The beat is just a bit too simplistic for my taste. And the hook is very eh. I know it's a parody of that Black Sabbath song which is cool but it's still pretty eh. Buuut like I said, I can still like it if I'm really in the mood for it.
Devil in a New Dress, Lost in The World and So Appalled are fantastic songs though.

I had almost exclusively listened to rap/hiphop for a few years prior to the first time I heard Kanye...
I was at my mates house, in his room, we were watching a skateboarding video... the skaters parts finished so we left the room, went to the loungeroom, then i heard a song playing from his room, it was the credits rolling on the skate video, it was "get em high"... I had never heard anything like it, i still cant really explain the feeling I had when i heard it.
I remember it clearly as a shift in the way I listened/appreciated music.
I just noticed that the length of the video is 20:10, which also happens to be the year that Kanye's best album came out

The college dropout is so amazing. Not a dull moment of the album. All-time great albums for me are ones where you can just tell the artist put their heart and soul in a track, and I get that from almost all the songs on here.

Not even just for Kanye, but for me it's one of my favorite songs in ANY GENRE from ANY ARTIST. From the beginning to the very end, the production was amazing in my mind. It plays a movie when I listen to it... the progression in the instrumental ultimately leading to that beat change up when s*** gets REAL PERSONAL MANNNNN, "Now we out in Europe, SPENDIN' EURO'S." 11:26 - It's interesting that 808s is seen as a sort of proto “tuneful trap” album, yet kinda perfected its own style of it in the song "Heartless", which still sounds amazingly unique & different from anything else before or since; it's like if Charles Babbage built a steampunk computer on par with the best modern digital PCs.

This is how I exactly feel about this album. He made me fall in love with music (808 & heartbreak had a big impact on my life). I was a freshman in college in a small poor country in East Africa, away from my family with no friends, and obviously got bullied and all. But I held on strong. I got my engineering degree, and he became one of my 3 iconic inspirations alongside Einstein and Batman. He is the definition of change and Overcoming our fears. I am now in the US, getting my second degree and obviously a master's in Aero. Mr. West really changes people, and I consider this album to be the best of his work personally. I love you, brother, and God Bless.

i respect your opinion on mbdtf, you clearly expressed that objectively speaking it’s high in quality and hugely important to hip hop as a whole but you personally can’t get past a couple flaws here and there, personally i look past the flaws and they only take it down to a 9.6/10 for me, which is the highest id give any album, and the instrumentals and vocal blending throughout are the ones i enjoy the most on any album, but that type of thing is subjective, your opinion and your backing up of it is fair enough, your commenters need to understand that

Late Registration is better than College Dropout. It’s more refined, more profound, has better replay value. The hits are better as well as the lesser knowns. It has zero slumps/dips in quality during the play through. It’s generally an improvement in every way stylistically and thematically compared to what Kanye was trying to do with College Dropout. Kanye’s second best album.

MBDTF is a flawless masterpiece I don’t think it falls apart at the end at all I think devil in a new dress is one of the best songs on the album same with runaway and the only songs I can agree that go downhill are maybe the last 2 but besides that I think the album is dam near flawless
