Big lamp with Goldenberg n°52 - Grande lampe avec varlope Goldenberg n°52

Cette lampe qui m’a donné pas mal de fil à retordre a été réalisée à partir d’une ancienne varlope qui pour les non-initiés est une sorte de grand rabot. Cette dernière se trouve en ma possession depuis de nombreuses années déjà et je ne voulait plus la voir prendre la poussière dans mon atelier, surtout qu’il s’agit plus d’un souvenir que d’un outil. J’ai donc décidé de l’inclure dans un de mes projets lumineux.
Un peu lassé des poses traditionnelles sur douille, j’ai choisi un montage en suspension. Il a fallu pour celà passer le cordon dans le manche de l’outil et dans une rainure creusée à l’arrière pour éviter tout cable disgracieux. Un interrupteur à bascule en laiton a ensuite été intégré sur le socle afin de faciliter l’allumage et d'ajouter une touche vintage à l’ensemble.

This lamp, which gave me a lot of trouble, was made from an old varlope, which for the uninitiated is a kind of large plane. I've had it for many years now and I didn't want to see it gather dust in my workshop, especially since it's more of a souvenir than a tool. So I decided to include it in one of my light projects.
A little tired of traditional socket mounting, I chose a suspension mounting. I had to pass the cord through the handle of the tool and into a groove at the back to avoid any unsightly cable. A brass toggle switch was then integrated on the base to facilitate lighting and add a vintage touch to the whole.
