Hi everyone! Thanks for visiting my channel. It's been several months since I posted a project and I am so happy to be back in the groove now. I hope you enjoy the challenge to finish in 24 hours and I invite you to please leave a comment telling me what you think of it. Even if you do not like it, I'd like to hear about it. Just be nice. If you want to see another project of mine, then check out this link -- ruclips.net/video/ePvxyk-uTq0/видео.html. See you in the next one!
You have no idea how much I missed your videos- ‘I’ had no idea! Kept checking every day and sure enough, the one day I don’t check, you’re back! Loved this project. You certainly did do it in 24 hours but I would have stopped the timer to play with the pets! I don’t think the 24 hours had to be in a row exactly. Anyway- glad you’re back and that bench is perfect for the butterfly garden! 👍🦋
That bench will always have a story with it. The neighbors will tell of Matt who kindly donated it along with his hard work. They will sit and rub it with their hands and say “she’s a beauty.” Beautiful piece with years of life now. Linda Beals.
My heart was pounding watching the clock, and all I was doing was sitting here watching YOU work. Beautiful and thoughtful gift for your community. I hope some of your neighbors see this and make a commitment to maintain the bench. I suggest you put your maker’s mark or other identifying marking on the bench to further endear your thoughtful gift to your community.
A mark on it is a great idea. I'll try to burn one in on the bottom side before I leave. I was pretty calm through it all until the last few hours. I was totally freaking out during reassembly and staining. Thanks!!
Welcome back! I think you did an amazing job in 24 hours. I really think letting the glue and stain sit for a day was the best. I think you did "restore" it in 24 hours but you couldn't put the poly on as the rest needed the curing time prior to application. Good luck with the move. I'm sure you wont miss the trains.
Thank you for understanding, yes, I think it is better to let it sit before finishing but I didn't think that far ahead when deciding to do the project in a day!! The move is almost complete. I look forward to filming new content in my new space!
What an awesome gift for your neighbors to enjoy and remember you by! It turned out gorgeous and will definitely add to the butterfly garden! Your neighbors will miss you! Awesome job great video! 😊❤
You did it and beautifully. I’m sure it will be a lovely place to sit and watch butterflies. A really lovely thing you have done for other people👌👌👏👏❤️
I think it counts as within time - after all, you had to sweep the leaves, etc - if you had been indoors, that would not have been the case. What a beautiful bench and a wonderful gift for your neighborhood! ❤
Thank you and welcome to the channel. So glad you are here. Please leave me comments on the other projects and tell me what you think of them! Thanks!!
@@Restorology I will! Just watched the Mid Century Dresser with the inlay on the bottom. I’m floored, it is a incredible work of Art! ✨ I’ll Comment as I go, hopefully RUclips will notice.
Glad to see you back!!! Although it was different watching you at full speed the whole video, you did a great job! Your humor adds to the pleasure of watching your videos!
Park Bench? It's a little Low Slung. Maybe for Tiny Grandmas? I'm getting more of a Coffee Table Vibe. A kind Gesture none the less. You did some Great Work for only 24 hours! Now Your Moving? Will You be setting up Shop again and How Soon? I'll miss You Gun Show Matt! Don't be a Stranger!
Yeah, I'm thinking it was used as a coffee table type set up too. Once I got the two top pieces together, it was obviously a little bigger than a conventional bench but it will still work for that. Given the water damage on the legs, I assume it was used outdoors before I found it.
I have ordered coated metal caps for the legs. They have not arrived so I couldn't show it in the video. No way am I placing those legs back into the dirt!! Thanks!
I applaud your effort and the result looks good. Maybe the wood will hold up outdoors, but I have my doubts unless it gets a fresh coat of polyurethane each year.
You probably should’ve given yourself 48-72 hours to allow for drying and curing time. I’m impressed by what you got completed in such a short amount of time. That dark stain should weather well, and this will look great in that little garden.
Thanks. I just jumped into it about 10 minutes after thinking of the idea. I didn't even think about cure times until I was already into it!! Not sure I'll be doing this again anytime soon!!
You really did a wonderful job on the bench! It looks amazing! I do believe that you finished in within the 24 hour period. If you didn't have to sleep for a while, and possibly eat, take care of other business and pet the critters, you would have been done much quicker. The 24 hour countdown should have been ONLY on the work you did with the bench, not a continuous countdown including everything else. You're a WINNER in my book!!
Such a delightful way to recycle an unremarkable piece into an attractive and useful article for your Community as a parting gift...may your relocation go well...dgp/uk
Hi Matt. It's your mommy! Great video, but I know this is far from your best work. Proud that you are leaving your neighborhood something to remember you by. This was fun to watch. I think the clock beat you....but I won't tell. 😅😂😂😅
Would rather watch the process when not under the alarm gun. Might have preferred a finish that let the wood shine through. That stain ended up looking too much like paint. Didn’t do the grain justice (IMO). Love your style! Love your animals and the rain and flowers! Thank you!
Yeah, the countdown was stressing me out and led to me making choices I wouldn't have normally but I am happy with it overall. It is way too dark for my taste but it matches the other bench at the garden. That stain I used was pretty thick. Just old but I was able to use it all up so that's good! Thanks for the nice comment!
If you took off the time you were asleep then that would make it 24hrs - I kind of thought you meant work time not a day and nighttime anyway - good to see the video pop up in my feed been a while there 😊
Well the original plan was to work straight through the 24 hours if necessary but old age and the fear of pissing off my neighbors in the middle of the night made me think better of it.

Question? The glue up drying is not added to the total restoration time?
It was while I was working on it.
