    Unfortunately the calculation of 125 grammes of gold against the current gold price, divided by 6 people per week, is NOT the correct math to calculate how much the people working underground make. The workers do not even make the slightest fraction of that :(

    According to Wikipedia, the municipality of Muy Muy was named by the Matagalpa people, who were the indigenous group native to the area. In their native language "muimui" translates to "the best" (sp. los mejores).[1] Translated to Spanish it's "very very", and in nawat it translates to "otter", which were once found in abundance in the region.

    I once met a group of kids, not adults but kids, who worked one of the largest fire brick kilns in the Middle East. The amount of respect I learned for the people of Iraq grew that day. I sat down with them, they would tell me they rarely would make it to age 19, due to health problems. They chose the work to save their families during the dire times. Many westerners have become blind to the challenges and hardships of this world, it’s easy to look away. I am thankful there are others like you, who show the life of those who are not always so lucky to have been born into a place or a status. Thank you for sharing the story of humanity, truth be told, this is real journalism.

    I spent most of my adult life in mining. It ultimately ends up the same: dig rock, crush rock and use a liquid to separate the heavy stuff (the valuable metals) from the rock. Is it worth it? Only as long as society puts a value on those metals. I just returned from taking a dozen geology students on a field trip and explained Noraly, the geo-chemist, to them. Now they'll know why I always give her that 'beeeg thumbbs upp!'

    • @andrewf.castaneda4695

      When it comes to gold, silver or other "precious metals"; what's it worth? Well the Spanish found that out, or at least English pirates found that out! It seems that these metals always drives people to point of looking after things that in the end have no real value!

    • @antonioverdad5071
      @antonioverdad5071 2 года назад +3

      @@andrewf.castaneda4695 But I would prefer that the investment bankers trade in gold and silver rather than in commodities such as wheat. When they use foodstuffs as money it pushes the price up to the point where people can't afford to eat. If you can't afford gold who cares. But if you can't afford to eat that's bad.

    What to say? The hard labor, the poverty.... still the people persist, They live and love, learn and grow old like people anywhere. We may feel thankful that this is not our lot, but there seems little real reason that life has to be this hard. Especially in an age where so many have so much; where so many seem to never have enough.
    You said recently that, "it's not all romance" on the road, and some of this is hard to see. But it's something we all need to see; need to be reminded of just how well off we are and just how small some of our "problems" really are.

    that was great Norally.... that reminded me of being a kid in the 60s and my buddies and i crawling into tiny limestone caves in East Tennessee and not realizing how much we were putting our lives at risk.... great times.....also later in school going into zinc, copper and talc mines...and then later working as a coal mine in low coal seams

    When you came out of the mine, and commented on how much these folks work. Your face said it all. Years ago, I was privileged to go to southern Mexico for a medical mission. I could not believe the amount of people that showed up for services. I must of performed 700 radiography exams in two days. Getting to know the people in the village and their poverty was truly an awakening. We left all our clothes and shoes for the village. Scrubs were all I wore home. Keep up the good work, showing people whats more important.

    Noraly, you work just as hard as those miners, sure, it's a different sort of work, but still, hours of editing, the riding - and all it's inherent dangers- & filming by itself, it can all be called 'work'. The difference here is that so many people actually see your work. Keep up the good work!

    I had no understanding of Nicaragua before watching this. (Just Daniel Ortega.) Aren’t we all simple humans at the end of the day. Great to see the friendly folks humbly trying to make a living and support their families and small towns. Peace all from SoCal. 🇺🇦

    Well girl all can say is good for you, you have entered reporter territory. And you have filmed it. What a good lesson for all. Some of us think we have a complaint, but barley. They should give you a Nobel award for your accomplishments. We all are previledged to experience your travels . Thank you, for your integrity.

    Those were the biggest blue eyes coming up from the tunnel. You never fail to deliver some of the most interesting destinations and people on your travels. I keep wondering if you will find as amazing things when you get to the USA. You will no doubt have to work harder to find them when you get here. Thank you for the best moto adventures on the internet.

    I spent a day in Colorado panning with some hobby miners. Like this, it was an old commercial mine and we were panning the discarded tailings. It was fun for about an hour.
