Needs a mode that replicates the RV-2 Hall 2 and RV-1000 Cathedral reverbs. Hifi bitrates have their place but earlier low bitrate reverbs can be better too.
Picked up the Boss MD-200 and DD-200 in the last month. I love the features of those modulation and delay pedals and the ability to save settings. They don't cost a small fortune, either. The RV-200 is next on my list!
Great pedals! I own a OD200 and a SY200 Is on the way. The OD200 is so versatile and sounds great. My only issue with these is the angle of the buttons. Makes them hard to press if they’re not at the front of your pedalboard. Good thing they have midi, but for something like this I might want to use the hold function often which would be difficult.
I think this one is the perfect halfway point between the simplicity of something like the rv-6 and the over-complexity of the rv-500, which is exactly what it should be
As far as why the MIDI goes to 127, I believe it's because it starts at 0. I remember one of the That Pedal Show episodes where they talk about that (could even be the one where they built Pete's pedalboard a few years back).
That's "LED" display Captain. I can see the thinking behind using them, virtually indestructible (don't tread on an LCD) and easier to read in poor light.
You guys are awesome! I come for the gear, but I get a good laugh from you guys as well. 😂 "hold, warp, twist, and shout." "Eat a carrot" 😂 " lob some critical hand grenades" Pete speaks to the guitar in the light, and says let's go!! 😂
Is it me? Or does anybody else get frustrated with ADHLee constantly fiddling with the knobs and settings? Like I understand that he is trying to learn how the thing works, but couldn’t he do that on his own time, off screen? It just seems like Pete is finally starting to get into a good sound/tone/groove whichever and then, good old “Captain Fidget” comes along and starts messing with everything and screwing it up. Problem is, it’s not the first time either. It’s every time. Like I’m trying to look at the pedal and take note of the settings but there’s always a hand in the way of the bloody pedals. 😂😂😂
Hi, great video as always. I bet you could give Pete a frying pan and connect it to the amp with a clothes line and it would still sound great. Could you showcase the Yamaha YH-WL500? Somehow you can buy them everywhere, but there is no test on youtube available. Greetings from germany
I haven't got one, but imagine it works like the rest of the 200 series. I have the MD-200 with a similar array of options & tweakable parameters. It has four footswitchable presets for saving, plus a manual mode for whatever you have dialled in at the time. So basically 5 options if you set up manual mode for something 'always on' (if your amp has no verb).
@MrNeilltupman thanks for taking the time to reply. These two guys obviously get on really well and have a fun time making these videos but sometimes forget to explain some things. Best wishes.
but I guess one program select signal switches back to manual, which leaves 127 slots. edit: just looked it up in the manual: program number 1, (signal 0x00) switches to manual, so my guess was right.
Have you looked at the Mooer Ocean Machine? As far as bang for buck you can't beat it. Dual delay and reverb with presets and midi. Fantastic for ambient stuff too because you can change type of effect and effects order in real-time to get really creative and 'musical'. Only drawback imo is the lack of a pre-delay control which is how I wound up here looking at reverb pedals but I think I'll end up keeping it.
Looks decent but Let’s be honest the pricing is all wrong, for £30 cheaper you could get the MXR reverb with a decent spring reverb and the Earth shattering Pad mode.
Hello, I want to know if it's possible to use the hold function and then play on it by changing another preset without leaving the previous sound freezed at the same time...is it possible? Or the hold function follows the different presets/types of reverbs? Also I want to know if I can play a chord or note in 100% wet signal, then hold, and then play on it with a dry/wet signal (also with a different preset or type) Thank You
A soft Plate or spring reverb can work with jazzy/rock rifs. But the rest is more for ambient and post Rock rifs. More diversity is needed to showcase a pedal like this!
So could you tell me for my using a Rav Drum with a small effects pedal, will I get more out of the RV200 or a bluesky I do like idea saving presets if sounds are close
I just got this and couldn't be more disappointed. I thought it came with a ton of factory "pre-sets". You know...numbered presets that I could scroll through and try out. 5 manual ones that I set up... huh? For me this pedal is no better than the Boss RV-6. And the display...you got to be kidding. The most un-intuitive display ever. 😢😒. The Zoom multistomp 70cdr blows it away.
loved the bit about the increments holding it down and it does steps of 10. starting screaming at myself and my DD 200. The cat still is missing. Great one as usual. sold!
Hmm, I have never been too fond of Boss Reverb pedals, and this one doesn't change my opinion either. There is always a digital harshness and coldness to their algorithms that just sounds artificial to me. In all of the modes. 🤷♂ Great video and presentation though. Pete's playing is always a stunner.
There’s some great sounds on the RV (I had the 500), but in the end I sold it and replaced it with the Empress which in still incredible despite it’s age
but what is it with BOSS and usb mini B in 2023!!! Maybe if they were COSS.... they would put the usb-C ???!! Someone please explain what am I missing !!!
Now? I gave up on the rv200 coming out a long time ago. I can get a used rv500 for $200 and this is $269. I mean, it's a good size but what the heck. I think they missed out on their opportunity. Plenty reverbs have come out now (except Brian Wampler with a midi stereo reverb, smh).....Boss is way too late on this
96khz is not the highest sampling rate possible by any stretch, but even that is waaaaay overkill for digital audio. Unless of course you're a Greater Wax Moth, which I'm pretty sure nobody buying this is.
I like a subtle reverb, so this may be overkill for me, lol. Why can't Boss make a multi-fx unit this size? Would be great for smaller pedalboards and looper peoples.
Accidentally engaging a boost by accident does happen! Lent a guitarist my pedalboard for a gig (Can't remember they didn't have their pedals, but whatever) and I had a Boss OD3 that I'd set as a boost, so basically max volume and I was using an old JMP as a platform, already set too loud to start with. Partway through the first song they hit the OD3 instead of the pedal they wanted to use and the jump in volume was huge! It scared the poor guitarist and they didn't touch a thing for the rest of the set and was a bit embarrassed to ask. There was around 20 pedals on there and they were only used to using one, so should have thought it through. Sounded incredible FOH though! Even the house engineer didn't ask for it to be turned down.
They should make a proper rv-7 with really good reverbs as these...boss are the best, but still lacks a really good reverb and really good go-to drive with medium/high gain. Then they will score at all aspects, in my opinion of course.
Really enjoy you guys when you loosen up a bit like in the beginning of this video. Also reminded me of a tune I played with an old buddy who wrote, in a blues format, a song entitled "My Baby Ran Off With A Carrot"! lol
Great product for the price. Spring reverberation sound is interesting but not realistic. Lacks the attack sound of the spring being struck. EHX is better in terms of spring reverb.
guess i'll have to watch the video...what does it do that RV-500 doesn't? is it intended for smaller foot prints or folks that don't already have 500 series?
BOYS!?! Nothing like a little innuendo... and Pete is nothing like a little innuendo... Back in the day you couldn't really do the reverse reverb poltergeist thing live. You had to turn the tape in the recorder over and record reverb onto a separate track. Great effect but quite a pain to do.
Just got my collider from source audio..im so happy! Its soooooo good.. i alawys used cheaper pedals or multifx...hooooly thats such an upgrade..the reverb is top notch as so the delay...how comes you never showed this pedal on the show??
Now that's annoying. Pete promised to play a happy tune where he was sad inside at the end. I was really looking forward to see what his twisted mind could come up with!
Arigato Pete & Lee - thanks for showcasing the RV-200.

Love Danish Pete's '3 Second Review' 😅 Editing it on point!!
I’ve had the OD-200 for a while and it’s an insane bargain, so I’ve no doubt this will also join the pedalboard soon!
They made it!!! 🎉
Lost hope BOSS would finally release an RV-200
Pete that intro was special

Nice reverb pedal, but this just shows how epic the Blues Driver is!
If on a budget, try a tc electronic Cinders for the blues driver. That’s my good deed for the year, kids. 😉
Man Boss is killing it with the 200 pedals!!!
I was waiting for this pedal. The big one was too much, but this is very exciting.
wow what a amazing combo Pete the RV200 and the Blues Driver - simply awesome
*Blues Driver (Blues Breakers are made by Marshall and are a different circuit altogether)

25:39 Absolutely golden comedy, Pete!
The modulated reverb is the only one that I would use. One utility for most songs and one long for ambience.
I think this one is the perfect halfway point between the simplicity of something like the rv-6 and the over-complexity of the rv-500, which is exactly what it should be
I've been waiting for this since the launch of the 200 series!

To be fair he’s usually just touching the knobs, or moving them by 2 degrees then immediately moving them back again 😂
OMG, make "Danish Pete's 3 Second Review" a recurring series!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just for what happens at 11:32, this pedal it's a priority to Christmas list!!!!! 😂😂😂
OMG it is here finally! 🤩

Listening to some of the chords and runs Pete was playing,I think maybe Pete is a secret jazz player.......................................
You skipped over a really important bit right at the end. Can you save pre-sets? Otherwise all that mucking about is a waste of time.

There are 128 presets. The last one is the manual pedalboard setting
This is a great reverb..but the current king of reverbs right now is the Meris Mercury X..it's miles ahead of this..
MIDI goes from 0-127, meaning it has 128 values.
but I guess one program select signal switches back to manual, which leaves 127 slots. edit: just looked it up in the manual: program number 1, (signal 0x00) switches to manual, so my guess was right.
You can put more than 5 settings even without using midi. it will just not show the red lights but will keep going.
Well done for being the first RV200 notification on my phone this morning! :D
Tom Quayle was a close second.
I think what Pete wants is the springs to be closer together, end-to-end wise, not width wise. They're stretched too tight, digitally.
So a RV-6 with a memory bank basically.
I keep hoping for a delay and reverb combo from Boss because i rarely have one and not the other. I guess a gt 1000 core is the way to go.

The tip about carrots is exactly the kind of insight I come to this channel for 🙌🏻👍🏻
Modulate is the winner here even though they kind of hurry through it.
So does anyone know how many patches you can save without the midi?
Looks decent but Let’s be honest the pricing is all wrong, for £30 cheaper you could get the MXR reverb with a decent spring reverb and the Earth shattering Pad mode.
Eh? How on earth would getting the much more restricted, lower feature count MXR for 30 pounds less be a good deal ? Lol
@@NamelessSmilehe’s right though, there’s no way I’d swap my MXR for this even at the same price.

FINALLY a pedal with reverse/gate reverbs
Been waiting on this to round out my collection. Bought it today and now I have all the 200 series pedals and the 500 series pedals minus the looper.
My girlfriend in 1976 got an LED watch for passing her O levels!
You guys have the best job ever.
Reverse reverb! Thats important! Too bad you guys didnt put fuzz/distortion behind it because thats what Kevin Shields sounds like
Boss does a really good reverb- always have imo. Their old Fender reverb pedals- the old brown ones- they're awesome.
Can't go wrong with a Boss pedal, I've lost count of how many I have.
I reckon you can tell which videos are recorded at the end of a days recording. The nonsense levels definitely go up 😂
You can tell by the amount of sniffing they do 😉
