We’ll eventually talk about the controversial looks but there’s no doubt this is a huge update overall bringing a ton of new features and some we just can’t see from the surface alone
If they need to lower prices, they need to keep the batteries the same for economies of scale. I think eventually they'll probably introduce better battery tech for higher end cars and slowly scale it down to the lower end ones.
For now until the new CATL pack is available, likely around Q2 we will see a big range increase. Around the same time 4680 for North America ramp for the Model Y also
@@heyJohnEeare you implying Q2 they will change the batteries for new ones? That'd be an insult to the customers who bought the juniper at launch, changing it 6 months later. My guess is they will change the platform to 800v and batteries for 2027 version
Very likely for the bumper camera, and maybe if demand is high after Model Y is out they can put it into the model 3 production line too for certain regions
Although nothing has been confirmed until a teardown happens, it’s hard to believe they would include the hardware for inductive charging in this vehicle. Their goal was to cut costs while improving quality, so unlike the Cybertruck and Cybercab, this vehicle might go through another iteration before it gets wireless
The headlights shifted to the bottom should give it much better visibility closer to the road, also looks to be matrix LEDs so I’m thinking it’ll be improved compared to the older Y and maybe even the new 3
Seems like launch series is a tactic to generate demand especially when people are hesitant to buy earlier production cars which may have worse build quality
I wouldn't want to get the launch edition because it kind of dates the car. To me, that badge on the back looks ugly and seems pretty cheap. Also, John, if this car will be available for purchase by the end of the month, when should we expect delivery? Will it be by mid-March? I'm so sick of waiting!
I’m not feeling the back , it’s to boxy doesn’t fit with rest of car. In that aspect I like old version of rear better , who knows maybe it will look better in person
Just spotted last minute and was to late to include it in the video, but if you look closely it looks like we might be getting an electronic powered frunk finally
Yeah I am quite disappointed with the lack of that too, but hopefully the latter will come in Q2 of this year once 4680 ramps up and CATL releases the new packs
"it already surpassed multiple expectations", the entire EV-internet is on fire on how insignificant and cosmetics these changes are... yes, you have numbers in orders, because the car was outdated compared to anything else. "15+ New Features Discovered", zero news, everything mention has been discovered on the release day.
@ I will split it into two parts: when you see '15 new features DISCOVERED' title three days after presentation you expect to see some new features that were discovered (!), not announced ;) second: Tesla MY 2024 was outdated compared to Highland or Cybertruck. So yes, people were expecting steer by wire, air suspension, 800V HVB architecture or 48V LVB. It still sells well, because it's fantastic allrounder, and (especially in the NA) access to supercharger network is a must. The Juniper model is again probably a car to go for anyone who just needs a EV with a reliable and repeatable charging experience, but people were hungry for more.
@tafl-9198 Tesla is all about sales and being profitable, at this point the S and X don’t contribute much to the bottom line, if anything they are the bottleneck to production. But I’m on the same boat as you, I personally think the Model S looks the best!
The more I think about it, the lamer this release is. And quite frankly Elon has turned into a psycho getting involved in every country's politics. I vote with my wallet and Tesla gets a 2 thumbs down. I wouldn't give Elon a dime.
@@singlendhot8628 I would say a lot of people care. And they should. You know what happens when you don't? People like Xi and Putin get into power and turn their countries into fascist states. And old Donald, supported by Elon is hell bent on turning the US into the haves and have nots. Elon hates unions, and wishes all of his manufacturing plants wrecked like China. Slaves.
Here's a funny alternative way to look at the "Launch" edition: Patience is a virtue. In the long run, it's best to let Tesla work the kinks out of making the new product. I would look at the Launch edition as a member of the first attempts at getting the cars to market. I would pay more for a car that is not a launch version.

I like the new look a lot.
Very happy with most of the changes (non aesthetic)
Yup I’m on the same boat, I like it and probably even more so in person 😎
Big disappointment it uses old batteries tho

They're need to get rid of current batteries then sign new contract
Same for me.. recharge power is really bad in this cars.. we needed a bigger battery (+10% would be enough) and a way better recharging curve
@@heyJohnEeare you implying Q2 they will change the batteries for new ones? That'd be an insult to the customers who bought the juniper at launch, changing it 6 months later.

Any news on V2X? That is the big thing possibly missing at the moment!
Unfortunately I don’t think it’s on the Model Y, at least for now. Otherwise they would highlight the feature on the website and much more
Could some of the new stuff like front bumper camera and indicator stalk drip over to Model 3 production?
Very likely for the bumper camera, and maybe if demand is high after Model Y is out they can put it into the model 3 production line too for certain regions
no 800 V, no V2L .....nothing....
@@JohnDoe-de3km CEO has flaws but we will take him over Jim Farley and Mary Barra any day of the week 👍🏼
Those items likely need a complete overhaul or built from the ground up. I’m quite disappointed myself too
Nice, a great car is even better now! 🤗
Definitely 💯
Hi John: Thanks for all your cutting edge updates! Any word on the possibility for inductive charging in the near future?

Cutting edge?
How long do you guys think it takes until the performance version is going live? I really love the new look and I’m waiting for the MYP
My bet is around the 3 month mark after deliveries, similar to the Model 3 Performance
Crees que la iluminación delantera será cómo la que ya ofrecía el modelo anterior, que es muy buena de noche o no será igual? Gracias por comentar
The headlights shifted to the bottom should give it much better visibility closer to the road, also looks to be matrix LEDs so I’m thinking it’ll be improved compared to the older Y and maybe even the new 3

I think you have a good point, I’d normally avoid earlier batches but bc of the launch series I might’ve actually considered it

100% agree. That launch badge on console trim is a bad idea as well
Launch editions have all the child diseases too. Usually something I would stay clear of when looking for used cars.
The earliest date I’ve seen is April for deliveries
@@heyJohnEe Oh Gosh I’ll be dead by then… 🙄
@Luca.121 lol
Most importantly, is it quieter and ride better?
Most definitely in both areas 💯
I remember when they elon wanted the gul wing door on the model y but it didnt work. I wish they did it on this model
That would be pretty cool
It would be amazing if they offered the gull wing on the front door of the Model Y.
When will the model 3 get the same face lift?
New video tomorrow all about it
U ignored New Zealand, why?
Donald Trump might want to buy it.
Apologies, I couldn’t remember all the countries from the top of my head. But New Zealand definitely included
Huge disappointed only 15 miles increase for us
Until the new CATL pack goes in around mid this year, hopefully
I’m not feeling the back , it’s to boxy doesn’t fit with rest of car. In that aspect I like old version of rear better , who knows maybe it will look better in person
Yeah the proportion is a little off, I think the license plate to cut off the empty space would do the trick
Love it!
❤️
Embargoes lift?
Tariffs in US? …oh, nevermind tRump buddy Musk gets an exemption.
Yes usually embargoes lift a week or so after, that’s when all the videos and reviews will be rolling out the exact same time from every media company
Oh, got it, for a second I thought the MY was on an embargo list

disappointing release. no new battery. everything is expected to be the same as the model 3. but people are waiting for a new 95kwh LFP battery.
The new battery is coming alone, expecting to arrive sometime around Q2 so that’s going to be huge

I think its strange Tesla introduce new features to their low end models before they introduce the features to their high end models.
It could be because they’re planning to soon fade the Model S and X away and replace it with a new Cyber lineup idk
