It is more than that. I remember when the Rams drafted Cooper Kupp in the 3rd round but I had seen him dominate Oregon so I knew he was special. I believe the same will happen with Troy Franklin. Wrs are usually the weak spot at Oregon but then Troy came and he was like a man playing with kids. It felt like Oregon had a legit TO on their team and not just scat backs.
He has played a lot of football. He is the same age as Zach Wilson. He can scramble and run much better than people realise. If he can digest and operate Payton’s offense, the broncos’ 9 year qb nightmare is finally over.
You can bet your last dollar. Nix is a quick study and you can bet that he's already been given stuff to start learning.
Sean Payton and Bo Nix is a great fit. Bo Nix will be the best rookie QB of the bunch.
people who talk about floors and ceilings I think are ridiculous. Who would look at Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Drew Brees and say to themselves that their ceilings were as high as justin fields? you dont need to be a freak athlete to be elite, it sure is nice but you need to get the ball into the right guys hands and any of these guys being drafted have the ceiling to do that at a high level. If anything id say being a freak athlete just raises your floor because when all goes wrong they have that to fall back on which is the opposite of how most people look at it.

In the NFL you have to be able to win from within the pocket first and foremost. I’d rather have a great pocket passer who can process the game than a freak athlete that runs around and can make crazy throws but not consistently pass in the pocket. How many Super Bowls does Lamar Jackson or Michael Vick have? Oh that’s right none

Bo Nix just looks like Drew Brees in uniform. My concern with him is that he played against terrible defenses and I don't know if he has the arm strength for the deep ball that Brees had. But I think Payton really had to make this pick also. It's an interesting roll of the dice.
He has really good arm strength. Mahomes threw for 55mph in the combine while Nix threw 58mph

this is actually funny because they are banking on next year’s class for Shedeur Sanders because they believe he’ll be that good, in which they are willing to TANK to get the 1st round pick. they signed Carter Bradley from South Alabama, but he’s average at best and doesn’t have a lot of intangibles.
On the contrary, minschew is quacking in his boots that Heisman finalist Bo Nix is stepping into the clubhouse.
Spot on with the Lamar Jackson draft day comparison. Trading back and missing would have been dumb. Hindsight is always 20/20 but smart people learn from their mistakes. Even if Bo ends up not working out it was the right move to take him knowing how strongly they felt about him.

We have had a top tier draft. I’m in shock. Oh, and we have $104 MILLION to spend next year!! Idk about playoffs next year, but this team will be a contender sooner than later.
Make sure to lock down PS2. They have a much improved DL and a top ten OL. They just need to add more DL/Pass Rush, a number 2 CB (PS2/Mcmillain are elite), and a TE.
We had no cap space and somehow improved our team. Adding Franklin and Reynolds is great for the WR room and having Tim back helps. Very happy rn.
They keep saying Wilson wasn't the perfect fit but statistically Russ did well last year before he was pulled. Which is saying a lot since he had another new coach. Still I'm happy they got Nix.

Sean Payton is a helluva qb scout. He was a qb himself so hes going to be able to relate to qbs more than your average coach. He also discovered Tony Romo and told jerry to pass on drafting Phillip Rivers because the future of the cowboys (Romo) was already there. He went and got brees when most thought his career was over and look how that turned out. His praises were sky high for Mahomes too prior to him being drafted by the Chiefs. I think he just hit another homerun drafting Nix. Im not a broncos fan, but ive liked Sean Payton since he was the offensive coordinator for the cowboys. I wish wed have never let him go! Congrats Broncos fans.

This felt like a desperate move. Sean didn't want to be bad another year, so he took a massive risk. Instead of planning for the future.

I feel like Bo Nix himself is a steal at 12. However I can't believe they got Troy Franklin in the 4th round. Troy has star potential. Normally Oregon dominates with the running game. Troy changed the way Oregon played because Oregon has never had a receiver like that.

I think this is a good pick up as its the type of QB SP needs, Broncos need quick completions for between 5-8 yards a clip at the moment, that will allow the running game to pound away needing 2-5 yards in 2 downs rather than what we had last year which was about 13 yards a carry because Wilson got sacked on a quick hitch holding the ball to long. I didn't even hate Wilsons play a lot of last season and I still had games where I was yelling "throw the damn ball" at the screen when he dropped back. ALSO!!!!! why oh why oh why do sooooooo many people get held up on Bo's age??? He is 24 and not 25 till February, its not like Brandon Weedon coming in to the league at 28 and having the expectation of carrying a bad Cleveland Team....If Bo has a normal QB career he can play 14 seasons comfortably and if he ends up decent then 14 years of good play is a whole lot better than what the Broncos have had since Manning.

It’s actually really interesting… if it’s true, the reports that Sean Payton loved Patrick Mahomes, and got júmped by Andy Reid, I’m amazed that he would take a lesser talent in with his first round, pick such as Bo Nix. But on the other side, he does have Zack Wilson, who has that Patrick Mahomes ability to make the spectacular look easy when he’s playing his best, so I guess he’s taking seriously that project.

He was yelling at Wilson for boneheaded plays, Wilson had enough heart to hang in there.
Payton will be patient in the beginning but only until the owners start breathing down his neck when they don’t see the results.
Broncos needed so much, at so many positions given the lack of players they want to pay and the players they got rid of. Too much pressure will be placed on one kid who unfortunately can’t play 22 positions at once.
I hope this young man does a good job, as he probably won't be prepared for all of the negative things that will be said about him from all of these fans who say he is the best pick. The Vikings pulled the rug out of Paton's feet by trading and getting McCarthy. Payton might have shit his pants, as this never crossed his mind.
Bo Nix just quietly had one of the best seasons of all time and I don't think he gets nearly enough credit. First of all, he led a legit top 5 program in Oregon this year (they only lost to Washington). But a 45/3 td to turnover ratio? Are you kidding me! 77% completions on the year.
