    As someone who spent years behind a band, hauling their equipment and being a witness to the chaos, this man has always made me feel like someone out there just knew how to write my life. We are strangers bound by a thing bigger than ourselves that few will ever really comprehend.

      For whom did you work? I have yet to see this movie in it's entirety-'Almost Famous'-(let alone the Broadway show), but: My earliest childhood friend worked as a 'roadie' for Peter Frampton (who plays a 'roadie' in the movie). My brother was a guitarist in a band who received a bad review in Rolling Stone; so the leader of the band showed up at their offices and put a beatdown on Jann Wenner. I once drove the members of Foghat to the airport to catch a plane. I've got other stories about 'roadies' and rockers; all true, which do indeed tell of something bigger than ourselves; supernatural in origin, defying comprehension.

      @@romanticandperkyreally? Your brother’s buddy just showed up at a huge office building with security and a receptionist-and a secretary-to see a man who’s booked solid daily…and proceeded to give him a ‘beat down’? Riiiiight 🙄 Dede’s comprehension, alright. Smells like total bullshit.

      @@glengamble526 No, it's a true story. This was back in 1971, and Rolling Stone magazine wasn't in a huge office building in those days with lots of security. Here's another story that's true, but you probably won't believe: In 1966, my dad (who just died the other day) took my brother and I to see The Stones perform live (Forest Hills Tennis Stadium, NYC). About 30 odd years later, my late brother Charlie took our mom to a birthday party at Keith Richards' house. Which reminds me: Glengamble, here's a trivia question for you: Which Stones' tune begins with the line-"Ma said 'yes', Pa said 'no'; make up your mind 'cause I've got to go--." My stories are true, glen: Buddy Miles, former drummer for Wilson Pickett and Jimi Hendrix, once showed up at the offices of Rolling Stones, and RIPPED THAT JOINT!

    • @romanticandperky
      @romanticandperky 10 месяцев назад

      Yes, my late brother was Buddy's guitarist at the time of that incident. 21 years later, my now late brother Charlie (and his guitar) were invited over to Keith Richards' house. You don't have to believe me; I'm the only one I know to make this comparison, but I always though Buddy Miles and Charlie Watts had very similiar drumming styles.

    I have always loved his writing as well as his directing of many films. “Singles” remains a favorite of mine and s one of those films that always gives me a really special feeling. Somehow his films always seem to give me similar emotional responses to them and I really appreciate that.
