We have to remember that racism is a human trait and presumably one that carries a evolutionary advantage in the form of a “stranger danger” response. It is anything but a solely white issue. I was married in the eighties to a mixed race woman from Kenya. She was black/Asian and so was rejected by Kenya. We experienced racism from both sides and my former wife from every conceivable direction! I would suggest that we are much better in the uk than we were in that time. It saddens me greatly to see that progress profoundly jeopardised by the current race politics. The backlash could easily set us back half a century.

Well, I’m a liberal, not woke, but a liberal nonetheless. I realise she has conservative leanings, but if you ACTUALLY read the report, everything she says is absolutely true. Individual examples of racism definitely exist, but generally speaking, we are not a racist country. You’re entitled to ‘believe’ otherwise. You’re entitled to any opinion you wish to have, however deluded.
I’m glad you’re so sure. I voted remain, but I’m not closed-minded enough to believe that millions of Brexit voters were racist. Like I say, you have a right to your opinion, and it is ONLY an opinion, though you claim to know. When someone is so sure of something, one would imagine that they may have verifiable facts to back it up. I’m afraid that, though I’m a left-leaning liberal, the facts are indisputable, the facts and the statistics back up the content of the report. I actually read it, I admit I was also a little cynical, that it may be tendentious in the least, but it isn’t. And, though Mercy is a conservative, it does not mean that she’s incapable of balance. Politically, I’m very non-conservative, but I believe in a balanced approach to important subjects. Race suffers from bigoted opinions from either side of the argument. One thing Mercy cannot be accused of is skin colour-based racism.
@@Dionysos640 Voting Brexit doesn't make people racist, and lumping everyone into that bracket shows people like you are a big part of the problem. I voted to leave, purely because I was sick of Junker and his obvious Britain despising ways, and sick of Cameron still sucking up to him anyway, telling us that to leave would be disastrous. If you can tell me how that makes me a racist, then I would like to hear it.
I'm a lefty, and I think the report has its issues but is broadly correct. The Guardian's response has been shameful, highlighting the exclusion of Black Caribbeans (whilst ignoring gypsies), whilst not mentioning Black Africans aren't being excluded on any of the same level. It is proper stats abuse.
Interesting debate. I was a youngster in the 60’s and I remember the racism, although I never saw anyone being abused either verbally or physically. It was all done behind closed doors. Much of it was a lack of understanding of the culture. Mainly Asian. The Caribbean family was never mentioned except in nice terms in my hearing. They were a particularly lovely family the children were my friends and I was welcomed into the family with open arms.
As Neil alluded to there is a seemingly wilful effort to lump together people who may be of the same racial group, but who have vastly different cultures and traditions. The same thing appears to have happened fairly recently in the US where they now refer to the various Asian ethnic groups as AAPI, Asian American, Pacific Islanders. And apart from race there is of course the ever growing and ubiquitous LGBTQI+. These acronyms usually originate from far left so called advocacy groups, but what you need to remember is that ultimately, and usually purely, these people are trying to accumulate power for their own ends. By placing people who may have little in common with each other, indeed some of whom historically have been hostile towards each other, or who's mere existence contradicts each other, see LGBTQI+, there is an attempt at creating voting blocks that can be controlled.

We've come a long way. It's not that long ago since racism was widespread in the UK. I'm 39 and remember it well. I went to a mostly white lower school, where the only mixed race child in the class received quite a lot of abuse. The rubbish teacher, who couldn't control the class was mostly to blame. She left and the new teacher clamped down on it. Nowadays a lot of racism is between ethnic minorities. A few years ago, I witnessed a Chinese waiter being racially abused by some black customers and more recently an Pakistani telling someone to bugger off back to Bangladesh. BLM have also been responsible for a lot of racism.
If a Pakistani displays hatred or contempt for a Bangladeshi, that cannot be described as "racism" any more than a similar situation between an English person and an Irish person, for example: in both cases, these people are the same "race." There is no Pakistani or English "race." The word you are looking for is xenophobia. Many such attitudes are deeply rooted in the histories of the ethnic groups in question. I know some English people who strongly dislike folk from Yorkshire: is THAT racism?
@@DieFlabbergast The word race is ambiguous, because as one travels across the world, meeting different people, it's often difficult to pinpoint when one race ends and another begins.
The town Andrew mentioned was Smethwick (my home town) 1963, made international news. Malcolm X came over, now one of the most multi cultural peaceful towns in the UK - channel 4 documentary ‘The racist election’ have a watch it’s amazing to see how far we’ve come.
You are absolutely right of course, the truth no longer seems to matter just who can shout the loudest. I was accused of an overt racist post on Facebook because I dared to point out the percentage of Blacks, Asians, Whites and other in the last census of the U.K. I’m particularly interested in the term fair representation when those shouting the loudest atm represent just 3.7% of the population. That said, I believe any racism or prejudice should be severely dealt with, unfortunately authorities across the globe tend to either go soft on it or ignore it completely. If this happened to me I’d be indignant as well. Why should anyone be judged on skin colour or what they sound like!
When people ask me how racist is UK As a national living in UK I can only relate to anti-white racism. The abuse white people suffer from the hands of racism in this country is disgusting and its about time this changes. We need to talk more about racism against white people here for sure.
I really wish some of my fanatical friends on The Left would watch this video. That being said, 1 - they won't, and 2 - even if they did they wouldn't listen to what's being said and find some way to disregard what is being said with some mental gymnastics.
As an Arab from the very bosom of Arabia. I would really like to see exhibitions about slavery here, and hopefully in Europe one day. The word “Slave” is derived from “Slav” after all, and for a very good reason. I wish I had the energy and will to translate the huge, 800-1200 year old books in Arabic, written during the Islamic Golden Age, when economic purchasing power allowed Muslims in general, to be extremely picky in their tastes, and how such tastes impacted slave markets across the Islamic World, from Cordoba in Islamic Spain, to as far as Tashkent and Samarkand in Central Asia, in-regard to supply and demand. My grandfather who passed away as recently as June 1990, when I was almost 2 years old, had a Georgian slave nanny, and he was born in 1902. My mother always told me, how her own grandfather told her, that they always had Georgian, Armenian, and Circassian white slaves for as far as the family memory can go. Not to mention the Germanic Visigothic and Slavic slaves some of my ancestors had owned in Cordoba, Seville, and Granda between the 7th and the 14th centuries. Which btw, were all sold to them by extremely specific and professional slavers, experts in their own right in such a profession, known to us as the “Radhanites Jews” or Vikings. Btw, all of this slavery business went on here as late as the early 1960s lol. It only stopped, on the behest and pressure from Great Britain and the United States of America. Threatening to cut off support for the local oil industry, which back then meant, not only buying it, but rather taking away the expertise of the white engineers away from us, which made all that we have today possible. While we’re at it, we need to have a museum for those great American and British men too.
This conversation comes from intellectual debate through properly conducted research. If you were reading this and didn’t know the ethnicity of either person you would realise these are very enlightening findings.
You can't force people to accept ouysiders as their own. To value your own people over others does not make you bad. It is not a moral wrong. You value your family over friends, friends over strangers
The critical but largely ignored skill for career progression is communication. If you can't communicate effectively then you will struggle. It's as simple as that. This is predominantly driven by parents, communities and peers. Race is irrelevant.
Kids with successful parents tend to learn to communicate effectively. They also learn confidence, ambition and drive. It does not guarantee success nor does it exclude those who don't have this upbringing. But it is certainly an advantage. And of course the elephant in the room is intelligence which is hereditary. It is very clear why there is a social divide and this social divide exists in all cultures. Yes people from any background should be able to progress, and they do. But the majority will not and to assign this to racism is just another example of people using the race card to get access to unfair advantage through positive discrimination.

Why is this lady not on mainstream TV? Explained the report in a balanced, clear and intelligent manner. Plus, to sink to the lowest common denominator for a second, she’s beautiful!!
She sounds like she has real brains. Why is it so damn hard for people like her to be seen on the national level
If you want real unity in this Country as much as I do, then this pretty lady is a start, good luck Mercy!
Nice to hear an intelligent, eloquent, black female voice instead of the usual shouty angry accusative, racist type we normally have to listen to.
By placing people who may have little in common with each other, indeed some of whom historically have been hostile towards each other, or who's mere existence contradicts each other, see LGBTQI+, there is an attempt at creating voting blocks that can be controlled.
exactly, a newer manifestation of the "bloc vote" that kept the trade unions in power and in control of the UK government in the early 70's. show of hands....motion PASSED

O wow! how refreshing to see a clear, intelligent voice from this young women who focuses on facts. This type of report gives me some hope for the current madness going on. Mercy just happens to be very beautiful. Please don't be silent at all, your voice is crucial to this debate.
Thank you for your wisdom and common sense Mercy Muroki.
The town Andrew mentioned was Smethwick (my home town) 1963, made international news. Malcolm X came over, now one of the most multi cultural peaceful towns in the UK - channel 4 documentary ‘The racist election’ have a watch it’s amazing to see how far we’ve come.
Yes, but...but...that does not suit the narrative of those who make a good living from writing and commenting about "massive racism" in the UK.
When people ask me how racist is UK
As a national living in UK I can only relate to anti-white racism.
Perhaps you should ditch your fanatical friends on the left?
@@elwynjones763 Why would one do that? That's not how to solve things; division. They're good people, just being mislead.
What a clever HONEST lady. Well said and THANKYOU ♥️💯👍
