The big gripe about this route is that it cuts Albany county cities' access to the Hudson River, making recreational activities along the river difficult if not impossible. The river is on the right in this video, the cities of Albany, Menands, Watervliet, and Cohoes are on the left. Good video.
I used to drive this route nearly every day, going from Albany to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy. Twice a week, I used to run the 9-mile stretch on the Empire State Trail from Albany to Cohoes along the Hudson River. That trail parallels 787 to the East. That was 40 years ago. The whole 787 route looks exactly the same in this video as it did then. I don't miss living in Upstate New York one bit
Nice ride along interstate 787 north in Albany New York
Good evening from Beaumont TX
It's nice to have you back in Upstate New York!

THANK YOU!!!! It's because of the route that Albany can't have direct passenger rail service!

Nice ride
I was a little surprised that I could not see the Albany Skyway...
Like how NY is the one few states that does their traffic lights diagonally?
787 was pretty short interstate portion within Albany. And it will become a surface street.
