I was first in line there on November 5, 2013. I arrived there at 7:50 AM. By 8:00AM, several people had arrived. Well worth the wait!! Excellent barbeque!! Greetings from Washington state!!
I used to have a customer on 11th street in Austin, a State Government office. I could see Franklin's from the parking lot. Never had the time to eat there. I'm told they have an app for curbside now, assuming you can plan a few (or several) days in advance. Stubbs, a couple blocks away on 8th and Red River, has good BBQ- maybe not Franklin's quality exactly- and there's usually no wait, and they are also a concert venue.

Jumi went to Austin a few years ago and did the long wait for it. She brought some brisket back to NYC for me and it was still amazing almost 2 days later!

I have never eaten at Franklin's but have tried a couple of the real famous BBQ joints and all were good. Here in Brownwood Texas we have Underwood's which is an awesome place to eat but a little different than normal BBQ joints, it is a buffet style place and everything is good. Smitty's is the place to get brisket in Brownwood, so good and on Mondays and Wednesdays a small plate with two sides is $6.50 with cobbler and you get a lot of food. Get the sauce on the side, not on the meat, and make sure you get the seasoning sprinkled on it, the best! If you are ever here, try both places because they are both well worth it!!!
Central Texans have been producing BBQ every bit as good as Franklins in their backyards for decades. However,producing BBQ of that quality on such a mass scale is extremely difficult!!!
yep, great bbq is extremely common all over in backyards, mine included.. but doing it on massive scale is extremely hard. I believe Franklin's does about 110 briskets a day. That's nuts.
Correct on all points. There is an over rated factor here for sure. They got the luck of the universe rite place rite time, media and movie star coverage that put them in pop culture probably forever but it simply is not worth the hype they have. Good for them,it’s great they have such success because it is great BBQ, and they’re great people but I promise it has its equals and more. Sorry but not many people are smoking $180 briskets with $40 wood in their backyard. After learning how to properly smoke BBQ I can’t take any of these backyard people seriously anymore.

Great bbq vlog guys! We went to Franklin bbq earlier this year, midweek, and waited around 3 hours (getting there around 8am). There was a line around 10 deep, so it wasn't too bad. We ended up ordering the fatty brisket, sides, and that Bourbon banana pie, which was pretty awesome! We must say, though Franklin was very good (judging their fatty brisket and sides only), they fell a notch short to Little Miss BBQ in Phoenix, AZ. When you get a chance, check out our two vlogs on Little Miss, and one from Franklin. That said, America can't go wrong with either, they're the best of the best!

So we went back on one of the busiest days to try them sides and of course the beef ribs. So this time we took the experience a step further. Stay tuned for that.

Franklin's is in a good spot in Texas, Austin. But make no mistake Texas has many excellent places to get brisket. If you live in Texas you quickly learn all the different ones especially the hole in the wall ones which are the best.
Oh it's a blast and definitely an experience. The time just flies by. Everyone in the line new and veterans had so much fun. I think we had the most fun because we were in the front of the line.

South Carolina is always overlooked when it comes to bar b q. But I will say, if you ever have bar b q in South Carolina cooked over the open pit with hickory wood, you will wonder why our state is overlooked. We know how to do it here and we don't cover the taste or meat with a bunch of rub. We like meat.

I've even seen a BBQ joint open up by another ( Rudys) and it survives just from people who came to get BBQ and don't like to wait. Look up Rudy's country store and BBQ if you haven't already. Been to the AZ location many times and I live 22 hrs away in Canada.
Well its 3AM and I'm up talking about BBQ. In six hours, I'm going to Bass Pro to see if I can purchase a Horizon stick burner offset smoker to sit between my Traeger Lil Tex and ECB barrel smoker. I'm assuming that means I like... no, I NEED, BBQ!!

My first time watching one of your videos. Really enjoyed your bantering. However, I wish you had more food shots. That’s what Franklin BBQ is about. Also, what about the sides they offer there at Franklin BBQ? No mention even that they offer those. Just my opinions. South Carolina is always overlooked when it comes to bar b q. But I will say, if you ever have bar b q in South Carolina cooked over the open pit with hickory wood, you will wonder why our state is overlooked. We know how to do it here and we don't cover the taste or meat with a bunch of rub. We like meat.

Absolutely. We would still recommend bringing your own or getting there early enough to get one. He also lays out a bunch of umbrellas just in case it's raining out. Thank you!

Just open up a burger place nearby that offers cheap sliders and cold drinks to go. People will pay because they are hungry from standing in line at Franklins
I dunno! The amazing smells alone coming from Franklin's might be tough for a cheap burger joint. LOL! We do love ourselves some cheap but GOOD sliders. The lines move fast and the experience is great. Meeting all those folks from all over.
@@TurnItUpWorld I meant for people to eat while they wait for the Franklin's. I've even seen a BBQ joint open up by another ( Rudys) and it survives just from people who came to get BBQ and don't like to wait. Look up Rudy's country store and BBQ if you haven't already. Been to the AZ location many times and I live 22 hrs away in Canada.
