The commercial where Charles Barkley said he was not a role model was the greatest truth ever told in a commercial.
He said the parents were role models. And that is the absolute truth of the human society in general no matter where it's found.
If your Dad ran out, and you're a young man being raised by only a single mom, how the hell are you supposed to be a good father? By looking at what some goofball dunking a basketball is doing? That's what Charles Barkley's point was. Unlike most idiots in pop culture, he actually thinks and tries to solve problems.

Some athletes go down in history among the greatest in their sport, despite never being a championship winner. Charles is one of them. I consider him to be on the same level as Sir Stirling Moss, the greatest F1 driver to never have won a championship title.
I think that a Team full of Barkleys (in his prime) could take on just about anyone. Yes, there were better players, but he has a completeness that was dangerous beyond his own abilities.

In his younger pictures he looks a little like Paul Pierce. In His "Role model" commercial, he was the first professional athlete to make parents take a look at themselves when it came to raising their children.

Does anyone else think that whenever Charles Barkley says "that's crazy" that it's like an iconic line?

Sir. Charles like many other great players played in the Michael Jordan, Magic and Bird era. He did get to be part of the Dream Team and win a gold medal.

Nice documentary about NBA basketball Charles Barkley of Philadelphia Sixers. Charles is the realest basketball player. Charles speaks the truth about crime in black neighborhoods exist because of bad black men. Charles speaks the truth about the police are needed in black neighborhoods to protect good black people from bad black men. Charles speaks the truth about NBA basketball players of this generation who are soft LOL. I like what Charles said about Lebron James and Kyrie Irving were stupid for leaving my hometown basketball team Cleveland Cavs. Charles Barkley, Michael Jordan, Dominique Wilkins, Clyde Drexler, Isiah Thomas, Patrick Ewing, Karl Malone, Earvin Johnson, Shawn Kemp, Chris Webber are my favorite basketball players.

It did not go well for him, when he was with the 76ers for many years. He went to the suns and got his MVP Award and went to the Finals in 93.

Charles is a good, honest, nice guy. He could be stupid some times, but he is respected. He has no rings but he is way better than those ring chasers in their prime time.

Jordan only took 6 years away from people. Barkley could have won a title if the 76ers wouldn't have chickened out on the trade to the Lakers. Also Barkley joined the Sixers when they were defending Champs. It just happened to be the greatest and most difficult era to win a title.

I've often asked myself the question, is it fair that I glorify the 90's NBA years so much and still celebrate the heroes from that time like this? I still play basketball, as I did in the 90s, I watch basketball, but the NBA has never touched me like it did back then. And players like Charles played a big part in that and I can think of many more. Has there been great basketball players after the 90s, yes there has. But it's different and the game has changed, not for the better.
