As someone who works in a retro video game store, I really don't recommend alcohol and magic erasers for every clean. We use a degreaser called Mean Green to clean all our consoles and controllers.
Magic eraser just scratches things to hell, since it's basically sandpaper, and alcohol has a chance of taking of logos and other small details from consoles.
We use alcohol on stubborn residue or stains, but stray away from magic erasers unless absolutely necessary.
I just read something on how Nintendo recommends cleaning your Switch with 70% isopropyl instead of 91% for that reason.
I’ve never been so thrilled and so disappointed for someone at the same time.
Gotta keep the series going at least to 20k for the people. Do it for the people!!!

Edit - I made the deal for $900 on everything and got it all. there was more hidden gems I didnt see in the pictures. I found earthbound loose and gameboy play it loud, right now Im in the process of cleaning everything and testing it. Megaman x3, chrono trigger and earthbound do work as those were the first things I tested. everything is valued up to $6500 on the low but, If I wait I could get up to $8.5k for everything I got.
I found a listing for $750. this lady is clearing out all retro games and I looked up the value of what I seen in the pictures its over $8k+ of snes, n64, nes, sega genesis, sega 32x, sega cd, game gear, gameboy, ps1 and ps2. Im meeting her this tuesday and Im buying it all off her.

Started this season with some funky headphones and ended with a funky box. That Dragon Warrior VII was the roughest out of the bunch. Sun, water, and grime. Hope you can get some of these guys fixed up. Awesome haul still and awesome season. Let's do it again.

I'd say Dragon Warrior probably the worst of the bunch considering the dirt and grime you can wipe away, paper can maybe be soften and flattened again...but the sunfading and ink loss, RIP

Dragon Warrior is easily the nastiest of the games with the best chance of giving you the black lung. Great series once again! Poor Pickin Preacher must be in his feels over those Saturn games!

Dragon Quest VII.... Holy man.... As someone with OCD (the video didn't trigger anything), if I got that container and I had to clean through all of that, it would be the most emotionally exhausting experience. I'd leap across the walls at the sight of Persona 1&2 CIB and all the other jaw-dropping grails; but the grim, crunchy & wavy manuals, "black mold", everything... Would spin me through a spiral. Kody, it was such a pleasure joining you on your $10k journey ONCE AGAIN! I gotta say, you're quite the trooper and your effort doesn't go unseen. Some of the bits and screenshots you show, I can tell it takes atleast 3-5 minutes to implement, on text it seems like nothing but the energy and editing process 100% add up. I also do video editing, though less frequently because of personal/career strives. KODY, I'm proud of you! You now begin a new journey. Another collection, a new series, what have you. For that, I'm excited in your light.

The method I use for fixing water damaged sticky disgusting manuals is using a clothes steamer and then letting them sit under some books for a while. If you don't own a steamer you could also use an iron but it take much longer.
The manuals are too far gone to try and repair
@AllPointsDirect2Food I've fixed manuals in worse condition. Yes after using the method they still look Water damaged but they are able to br flipped through and the oages aren't torn
@RedditLucio but with black mold? Not worth a chance to get people sick. As much as can be flipped,better off salvaging what can as still getting back a lot even disc only. I'm sensing Magical Knight Rayearth faced water damage as well

Dragon Warrior VII is by far the worst. Water damaged AND sun faded like crazy.
MAN, it hurts to see all these amazing games in such bad condition. I'd be wanting to keep so many of them but in this shape they'd never even get put on the shelf. Value is still really high if you just count it all as loose but this would be absolutely incredible if these weren't water damaged. Whoever owned these originally had great taste.
For selling I'd honestly get rid of most of the cases and manuals, get the discs cleaned up, and sell as loose. You'd be getting so many messages for more photos and details if you tried selling with the heavily damaged cases and it probably wouldn't add any value over loose. As much as it sucks because they're physically there you can't be thinking of complete price because the cases and manuals are trash at this point. Mold is not something you want spreading around.

I’d say the DW is the worse condition. Water damage, sun damage…. The elements have done their worst to it.
The elements can suck a fat one! jk fr though the Dragon Warrior is TRASHED!
@@k0dyw1thaK that was an amazing end to your $10k challenge. Lots of ups and downs in that chest-o-games. Hopefully some of those mannys can be saved, and if not, someone can get those awesome games and pair them up with empty cases.
Manuals, you just need a t-shirt press. You can buy a cheap one, and you can press them, and they will come out great. You can also do boxes if you get any.
Reseller father had his kid list his problem stock. He just needs to launder this into a ps5 he can sell for cash. I wouldn't be surprised if these games have been sitting at a flea market in the sun and rain. Lots of sun damage which makes no sense for a collector

Blazing dragons is 100% the most ugliest game, the front and back looks like it sat in a used public restroom, and I bet the disc is more damaged than shattered glass, the manual looks like it smells like expired milk.

Depending on the resurfacing machine you use and how well you know how to use it, most of those discs are salvageable

I am pretty sure that mortal kombat gold is the worst ONLY because you had actual living bugs in it.....nasty. I will say this was an amazing ending to the season 2 of the 10,000 game collection. SO MANY AWESOME TITLES

I just finished watching this video. It was crazy. Im so sorry for your loss. Like of I would get all those games . Sure I would be happy. But also I would cry my soul out for all those broken game cases and manuals. I would be soo depressed and all day listening to sadness by Malice Mizer. But hey at least some bangers could survive the water damage . I hope you can get through that traumatic experience. Cuz I wouldn't know how to fix that. Again thanks for the super video . Re:Loaded is a sequel to Loaded. Loaded was an early PS1 release in the long box. I remember grabbing it from Walmart because it was the cheapest game there and then my parents took it away because it was so bloody.

Dang what a haul of rare games! I don’t know if I’d be willing to put in all the work to take on that haul but I’m sure you’ll still make a killing once you buff the discs and sell disc only.

The yuckiest game of the lot is definitely the blazing dragons. Dirty, crusty, falling apart, and horrendous.

Worst has to be the dragon warrior 7. You can wipe down/clean , get new manuals and get all the disc resurface for the others. No amount of cleaning will get all that sun fading to go away. Awesome series Kody!

steam cleaner or steam iron, hold manuals over it, pages will start to loosen and separate with some careful opening as they get steamed. Can try ironing over a towell to put pressure on them for flattening them but hard to get out all the waviness

Gonna sound like a broken record, but I can resurface those games. Also from my experience resurfacing games, that crash game might, keyword MIGHT be salvageable if is resurfaced with right machine. Dragon Warrior is by far ugliest one for sure. It sucks to see so many of those great games in that condition. Still it was a great trade for sure. Also truly hope those games didn't receive multiple golden showers 🤢🤮

If it were me, I'd go through the damaged games and toss anything with mold/mildew/really gross stuff. If the manual is brick hard but not mildewy/dirty, I might sell the game on eBay for the disc only price, making it clear that the manual/box are in extremely poor condition but offering to include them if the buyer wants them. (Mainly because some of those manuals really add a nice visual to the game's cover in a collection and buyers might appreciate getting the cover image for their game case for no extra charge.)
Here's hoping you go for $25,000 or something next! Nice meditation on some beautiful scenery there at the end.

Manuals can always be replaced if possible as long as the games works id say its a absolute win.

The manuals can be fixed. Look up paper and book restoration. It's possible but would take a long time to do and if you're not doing it yourself will cost alot of money I'm guessing.
Thank you Kody for bringing us along with you through this tumultuous journey filled with many ups and downs. But my advice for the games with tarnishes case and manuals, I would buff the games and post it on eBay complete and put it for bid and see what happens. Obviously disclose the condition in the description lol.

The dragon Quest VII is the worst to me, not because it’s looks as bad as the others, but because it’s the game that hurt the most seeing it in that condition
I have one kislux bag I got in 2019, it's the LV white catogram speedy. It's counter quality and it has a nice honey patina now, so the leather is real. I think whatever makes you happy go for it. I've seen LV with plastic leather and blood red glaze...
Just an ideal from me I say steam the manuals. Hopefully the heat and moisture will be able to break up the sticking. But of course not too much as could damage them even further.

Kody, just will say the issue with water the solution is the water. .. the manuals under water take the original condition, then use the iron for good condition. good luck.
Just double check those games for disc rot. Humid environments can cause it. Other than that remoisturizing and pressing those manuals could do some good. Probably only worth doing on the more expensive games though.
Fantastic Quack has a good video called Restoring Water Damaged Game Art. I've used it a few times and I'll always test it on a few of the $10-$20 titles to get it right and then I'll try the absolute worst of the best stuff first just to build up my confidence lol. It takes some time so I recommend pulling all the ones over $100 and doing those and just lot up the rest and sell to someone that has a professional press or setup for repairing stuff like that because someone can definitely do SOME work on them. They'll never be more than like 75% at BEST lol

I'd have to say that Dragon Warrior VII looks the worst, considering it's had its color sucked out of it like its life along with all possibility of getting really clean ever again.
If those games of the banger graveyard would have been in good condition, this collection might have fetched some more thousands. Almost 15000 in the end when starting with headphones that almost looked like they came out of the same crate as these games. Really entertaining journey, hope you keep on doing what you do. 😄
