Eliasse, a dynamic music group hailing from the Comoros, brings a fusion of soul, blues, and afro-beat to the stage with their powerful trio. Rooted in Comorian rhythms like twaraba, mgodro, and shigoma, the pulsating drums, groovy basslines, and charismatic vocals of the singer-guitarist create an irresistible energy that sweeps the audience away.
Their music defies categorization, transcending labels like 'Comorian blues' or 'Indian Ocean rock' to embrace a unique genre known as ZANGOMA rock. Originated by the renowned Comorian musician Baco, ZANGOMA rock merges Western music with the rich traditions of Comorian and Indo-Oceanic music.
Eliasse's interpretation of ZANGOMA rock blends rock, blues, and folk with the rhythmic essence of the archipelago and Africa at large. From twarab to mgodro, from maloya to afrobeat, their music reflects a diverse cultural tapestry anchored by the pulsating rhythms of the drum (ngoma).
