I have the Mini S which looks identical on the inside. It worked for 10 months, not the blue light is always on. did all the same stuff (less the thermal imaging) and doesn't work. Hoping the company makes good on their warranty. I'm not too confident though, their support has been really bad, taking days to weeks to reply to inquiries in the past.

Own Ser5 R7 5700U Pro, it's rock solid! I did remove Win-dose 11 Pro after a month, installed Mint OS. After a few months replaced NVMe to faster and bigger unit. Installed SSD the same week I purchased. Upped the RAM to 32 after 6 months. Have created short 4K video with present setup, IT JUST WORKS! That's my true review of my Beelink mini PC. Only issue is CPU is not up gradable (soldered in unit), and BIOS is pretty minimal. It is still a great value, I've had laptops fail out of box, and a few name brands that nothing was able to be upgraded, if you have a spare monitor, the mini is a far better deal than a laptop!

I own it from September and fortunately no problems. I just reinstalled windows 11 pro from zero, replaced the original 512 GB SSD with a 2 TB one from Crucial (with a heat sink because it gets very hot), removed the SATA enclosure for more space and replaced the 16 GB RAM bank with one, also 16 GB DDR4 3200 (Corsair Vengeance) that I had at home and it was incompatible with a Ryzen miniPC (sometimes it froze, but with this mini s12 pro the compatibility seems to be excellent).. It's been 6 months and so far it's going great..🤞🤞

Our beelink has been on 2/7 for 2years, only time it's been off is when the power has gone off. Seems some have flunk the month test. Usually if it lasts a week, it'll last a month, if lasts a month, usually good til the owner wants to update.

The only other thing I would've tried first was swapping out the HDMI/Displayport cable and/or different monitor/monitor port. I've had bad/loose cables and bad monitor ports result in a "no signal" erro even though the computer was booting. Not saying it's your issue, but just soemthing to eliminate early on duing diagnostics.

I just go an S12 Pro and it lasted all of about 10 hours of runtime. Just long enough to get things set up. Frustrating to say the least. What the one I had would do is turn on for 1-2 seconds and then shut off over and over. Waiting for a replacement now. Would be one heck of a cheap and decent mini if would last.

A friend bought a SER5 (5600H I think) which started dying after 4 days (loss of color palette during POST, but Windows was fine). She returned it and bought a SER6 Pro which started to falter today (the second day of use). The USB ports were going out.
She's had it with Beelink after investing in 2 computers, 64 gig of RAM for the SER5 and 3TB of NVMEs (none of which she can use).

I have a chance of buying it for $145(16G/500G), but read some alarming comments on a forum, and this just confirms my suspicions.

I had actually just ordered this model for the same purpose when I saw this. Luckily just in time to cancel the order. I notice among the comments that some swear by their beelinks, some had a similar experience but it does seem that QC is an issue so I thank you for this info. I think I'll go with a more reputable brand.

I think a key distinction here is "after seven months"--this suggests something that begins to fail gradually due to heat stresses and/ or quality control issues. Mine worked too earlier on but began to get progressively crazier (see full comment above) after about the same interval (6-9 months). I jumped off of it to another desktop before it sank completely.

    • @ex3d
      @ex3d 7 месяцев назад +3

Try this. My unit was shutting the video output/shutting down after some idle time and was crashing on a light cpu/gpu load. After disassembly I found the thermal paste was crusty as hell (a symptom of it overheating) so i replaced it with some noctua NT-H1. The idle temperature went from 60 celsius to 39 but the Mini S still crashed on benchmark tests and after some time. The definite fix was to reaplly a good thermal paste and install a better fan instead of the CPU 1 pwm fan wich is very badly designed. The Mini S will turn on without the pwm fan connected so I fancied an external usb relay to a 12v fan that keeps the unit at 33 celsius even on workloads. TLDR. Bad thermal design fix is to replace thermal compound and cpu fan.

How is the replacement unit functioning now, one of your comments said you got a new one like 2 weeks ago, any problems? I was considering getting one of these because it was cheaper than most alternatives for such a low wattage yet decently powerful computer. I saw some refurbished tiny computers that were maybe slightly more money and wattage but also more powerful and able to have double the RAM. The only drawback would be being slightly bigger with an older cpu with less modern hardware codec support, and not officially compatible with win11, but it'd still have like h264 and such, just not the latest and greatest, and frankly I don't like what I've heard about win11, which is mostly compaints about the BS hardware requirements to be officially supported and being upset about what the did to the taskbar. I haven't heard /anything/ good being mentioned that sounds like ti's worth it except for the fact they're talking about dropping 10 support in a few years, they're going to be leaving a lot of people hanging when they do.

My version of this same machine worked fairly well out of the box and the 1235U seemed good and fast, but the whole package seemed to run a bit hot according to thermal monitors I installed and had a noisy fan than revved stressfully almost constantly; RAM use was oddly high on a machine with 32gb RAM. This trivia may or may not have something to do with the SEi12's real behavioral problems, which began with odd acts coming out of sleep. At about month 9 with this machine, if it returned from sleep, the wifi would be off and I would have to restart the network adapter to get it back. Stranger behaviors developed after this: if the machine restarted itself over-night for an update, it might crash to a black screen at some random point during the next day-and rebooting was not simple. Rebooting would involve a 15 minute off-interval (I never understood why, but it was an empirical fact) before it would reboot. Hibernating the machine would result in the same behaviors. Eventually, the machine would not return from hibernate or sleep at all [and not just with USB stimuli, but with the power button]. Yes, scary. My options were to leave the machine on all the time OR fully shut-down the machine. Anything else made the machine prone to black-crash at some random point afterwards. The reason I simply replaced this machine is that its crash-to-black [with unresponsive keyboard, no simple reboot, and a required 15 minute off period] behavior, though rare and hard to link to a specific cause other than "it doesn't like partial shut-downs," became more frequent. Though similar, Beelink-unique problems are often discussed in Beelink forums, [with no fixes that I saw and comments like "I worked in PC repair for 20 years, and this stumps me"], Beelink help confined its advice to suggestions that one could get from a Windows chat-bot, and little more-- like "have you tried updating your graphics drivers?" Uh, yeh. This machine began to crash to black during Zoom or in image editing work--fairly low-demand stuff by current standards. I can't have a machine that leaves me high, dry, and reaching for a back-up laptop during a Zoom classroom that I am leading. Beelink sent me into the waiting arms of Lenovo for a new desktop. Given the percentage of these that fail (see other reviews and forums), I'd say at the least that this machine wasn't built to withstand its own heat stresses, and that the run had serious quality-control issues. Sorry to say it, but avoid these guys.

Doesn't sound like they do a burn in after manufacture. It is probably a great idea to do a stress test and leave it on for a month when you get one of those. Infant mortality is common with electronic components. Even more so when they are exposed to thermal stress. So, you have a PC that's drawing power and spinning up the cooling fan, but not outputting anything to your monitor. The first thing I would check is whether it was on the monitor side or the PC side. I have a similar if not the same model of Huion tablet. It's finicky. I'd hook that thing up to a known good monitor with a known good cable and see if it outputs anything, and check the second HDMI port if the first doesn't work. At this point, you'll know if it's the actually the PC that has a problem. After that, not having a spare stick of RAM on hand, there's very little left to do other than what you did, reset the CMOS and try removing and replacing the CMOS battery.

I have had this kind of pc a lot. The cmos battery died 100%, if that happens the pc doesn't boot anymore. You need to renew the Cmos battery. Plus if you shut down the PC by disconnecting the powersupply, the board is draining the cmos battery empty (it draines as long as you don't boot again). i don't know why but thats my expierence with these mini pcs. You need to shut down in windows or by pressing the button. Otherwise the battery is dead within a week or so.
I wasted 4 cmos battery's wihtin 2 months or so until i figured out the real issue.

I received a Mini S (11th edition) from Amazon yesterday. IT HAD ALREADY BEEN USED with the OS passworded... and in FRENCH... by someone named Marc. NO MANUAL came with it. Resetting the CMOS through the little hole didn't help... I got into the BIOS once... and then never again. The machine wouldn't even turn on.
Why do companies go through all the effort to make JUNK when EXCELLENCE is within reach?
It's on it's way back to Amazon. I sure hope someone bothers to try it before they ship it out to the next sucker who "buys" it.
