I feel confident that I can do it after watching this, I'll definitely be subscribing and checking out your other videos
I'm almost 27 and never learned to braid to the scalp a day in my life. I watched this video, took some deep breaths, and just braided my son's hair for the first time on my own and I'll only get better from here..! 😭 so thankful for this video 😍🙏🏾
*Updated comment. Guys I really learned to braid my daughter hair from this video. Thanks a million. I always use to practice but stopped but me seeing this video give me the motivation to take a deep breath 😮💨 and try to braid. I even purchased this Manikin head. Not really used it but im going to practice other hairstyles and try some weave styles once I get this braiding down a little more.
The first thing I learned is that I braid over, instead of under. The information on parting, how to go wider in the middle and smaller at the edges. Also the part about not trying to look at the bottom of the braid, and not focusing on picking up hair. This video has been the most helpful that I’ve seen. Thank you so much.
When I say I'm 40 with a 13yr old and JUST learning how to braid BECAUSE OF THIS VIDEO!! THANK YOU SO MUCH! I've watched so many and this just did it for me. Great teacher!
After 8 years I was finally able to cornrow my daughters hair... thank you. What helped me understand was the part you said you’ll naturally pick up hair and bringing the side pieces under the middle
I'm a guy with no cornrows skills whatsoever. I learned to braid using 3 shoestrings😂. My mom is 84 with beautiful long silver hair, but has arthritis and has trouble gripping her hair. Soooo,... I wat h your tutorial, ordered a mannequin and immediately learned to cornrows fairly well thanks to you! Now I can surprise mom and help her out with her hair. Your truly a beast & a professional 💯👍🏽
This entire video is an "ahh ha!" moment for me! incredible detail given when breaking down grip, parting, underhand braiding, head shape, ETC! I can now braid my 8yr old daughters hair after all these years & now i'll be able to do my 4mo. old's hair! Life changing video, seriously! Thank you...this info is priceless.
I have always been confused about how my fingers should be positioned and the parting down at the nape. I really appreciate how detailed this video is. It helped a bunch. 😊
Thank you so much. You are an excellent instructor. “Under the Middle” is what I said to myself with each strand and before I knew it I had completed a braid!
I have watched so many tutorials and heard so many instructions. However, you are the only one in the past four years of research that actually made it all make sense. Please, keep the videos coming. I would so take your class for all your instruction. You are like the Bob Ross of Hair Design! What a breath of fresh air!
White girl here, trying to learn how to braid my black sister's hair. 👋 Thank you SO much, this seems so much less daunting now than it did a few minutes ago and I'm so excited to give it a try! 😍
Thank you so much! I was raised by a narcissist mother who absolutely hated me. She taught my sisters this but never taught me. And my sisters refuse to teach me. Thank you for this. God bless you. I’m 36 just now learning how to do this. The world needs more people like you. ❤
THANK YOU for this! 😭 My daughter is half black/half Filipino and has such curly hair. I have been researching how to do this so she has a style that stays in during school and soccer. I can do French braids all day, but they only last so long. I'm a big overhand braider. You explaining it in this way just made a breakthrough for me!
Thank you for this. Been trying to encourage my 14 yo to learn how to cornrows and you are spot on wonderful. Please keep giving life to us kitchen beauticians.
Oh my gosh, you just changed my life. I love how you kept changing the angles so we could see everything you were doing. Thank you so much for the video
I have watched and attempted cornrows for years on my daughter's hair, I had honestly given up. We tried crochet braids, styling her hair in box braids, that honestly took so long and she was miserable during the process. I recently decided to do crochet braids again, this time trying cornrows and then crocheting her twists in, while I am just learning and know it will take time, this video has been the best instructional video that I have ever watched. Thank you, there may be hope after all ❤️
I feel like I just cracked the code!!! I'm 48 and I have tried since childhood to do canerows. I could do twisted cane rows but not braided ones. I have watched so many videos and just couldnt get, but FINALLY found an explanation that made sense. THANK YOU!!! I plat overhand naturally, so now I just remind myself "GO UNDER"!! IT WORKS!!! A thousand times, thank you. ❤❤❤
Thank you. This has changed my daughter’s hair life. She will no longer be limited to flat twist styles. I’ve always wanted to learn how to cornrow. Now I know that I will be able to do it. They way that you explained this was phenomenal. Continue to do your calling. Such a blessing.
I have adopted sisters who are black and mixed. As a grown white female, I've seen a lot of friends with braids. But never did them myself. I've been working on braiding my sisters' hair lately. This video is amazing! I think the biggest help was to not worry about the hair that you are picking up! Thank you so much for adding to my skills. I'll be watching more of your videos for sure!
I haven't had cornrows in my hair in a long time and usually made larger sections. The smaller sections of 'right under the middle' and 'left under the middle' are a good visual. Thanks for the tips!
I'm a natural underhand braided and I have a mixed granddaughter who I have learned so much with just on my own but I watched this video and everything in the video has changed so much of my technique. Thank you so much.
Ahhhhh! Okay. My Aha Moment was when you said to keep your fingers close to the scalp, close to each other. I have been keeping my fingers farther apart without realizing it, until you said something. You make it look soooo eassyyyy! Gonna keep practicing!
This is by far the best tutorial I've seen on how to make cornrows. The "aha" moment for me was when you said "under the middle". Til now I didn't understand that this was the teqnique. Each time I'm doing cornrows I put you on and get better every time . Thank you so much!
I live in a super white town where no one will braid my bestie, so I'm determined to learn to give her her dream braids & this video has been the most helpful of anything I've binge-watched so far! Thanks for going over finger positions & partinggg! You mentioned it, but how to prep for braiding (detangle, blowout, etc) would be so helpful too. ❤❤ amazing astounding incredible absolutely stunning keep it up you're changing lives lmao 🌈
I'm grateful for the wealth of content on here from many people. But this tutorial shows the difference between someone who knows how to do a Cornrow showing us versus an experienced cosmetologist with a gift for teaching. Thank you for all the small tips too along the way. I have 2 young daughters and keen to improve how to braid their hair, thank you ❤️
Omg yes, that's my biggest concern when cornrowing. Which I then overthink and end up grabbing too much. 💜💜 I'm a beginner and learning on my son's hair. That helped me breathe.
I’m 25 and after years of trying your video actually showed me how to braid. I just braided my daughters hair for the first time. Thank you. I’m so happy that I can braid, this video really helped me.
Im in the same boat!! I wasnt into hair growing up. But now that i jave a son with all this hair, i have to do something. My sisters do hair. Im willing to learn. This video is very good. Very helpful for a beginner like me. Thank you. Your style and teacher looks like it will start me off in the right direction.
This was so helpful. I have two little cousins with very thick, curly, coarse hair that is often difficult to style. Their mother unfortunately just passed away (the only one that knew how to handle their hair type) and I want to advocate for them by being able to do different styles on their hair. So thank you so much for this❤️
Girrrllll it's okay. Same here. Wats worse is I'm from the island. I'm jamaican and can't swim either 🥲🤣🤣😫. I be trying to practice on my daughter. I'm getting sum wat ok now. Not even decent or good it's still horrible 🤣🤣🤣😫
I love this video I am a person with straight white gray hair and have always loved braiding but never learned corn rows. Thank you my granddaughter will live this style. You are a great teacher
Head shape, fingers straight against the scalp, and natural hair grouping was EXACTLY what I needed! I felt so dumb thinking I was doing it all right, thank you so much hun 🫶🏼🫶🏼
Literally the best tutorial, that “under the middle” thought process is what made EVERYTHING click for me. I never knew how to cornrow and after watching your video once I cornrowed my daughter’s, my oldest son’s and my husband’s hair. Thank to so much! 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Thank you so much 🥰🥰🥰 My aha moment was when you said not to focus on taking hair but to just focus on going underneath the middle. I finally did a good cornrow without sore fingers. It went down so smoothly.
You are insanely informative! Most people just braid effortlessly & end the video expecting you to ‘copy’ but you’ve shown every single intricate step! Fabulous braids too, can’t wait to try these on my 10 month old boy, thankyou so much.
I always have issues with grabbing too much hair as I braid - the tip about watching the top of the braid has been SO helpful! I was definitely pulling up from the bottom instead of down from the top and staying flat!
I’m currently in a cosmetology program in my high school and this is teaching me a lot more then what they are teaching me . To me cornrowing has always seemed so overwhelming to me and so hard but when you broke down the steps it made me a little more comfortable and confident in learning and doing it ✨✨💙💙
Your way of teaching is absolutely fantastic! It feels like you really take the time to explain the minute details that can come so naturally to experienced stylists. Super helpful and very educational, thank you :)
I was clueless how to braid to scalp before my friend showed me and then this video. I’m so thankful I kept looking til I found this! THANK YOU. This was so easy to follow. You are a natural at teaching, please don’t stop doing what you are doing!! 💕 My daughter is going to have beautiful braids now.
The “under the middle” is a game changer for me!! I never understood why my cornrows would start so far back, I get it now. I’m going to braid my daughter’s hair today with this is mind. Thank you!!! 🤗🤗🤗
This was a very helpful video. As a dad, my daughter prefers for me to braid her hair and I want to try to get the cornrow down for her first day of kindergarten this year. After watching this a few times, I feel confident that I can go forth and give her a good first day look. Thank you for taking the time to put this video together.
I’m a mortician and needed to learn this so I can care for loved ones with textured hair and you have helped so much!! This is easy to follow and I can’t wait to learn more from you!
Thanks for this I’m a foster mama trying to learn to corn row for my little boys. Thankfully I know how to dutch braid and I think it makes it easier to understand. Thank you for such an easy to follow tutorial
I used to be able to braid my butt off when I was younger, but since I haven’t done it in so long, I find myself struggling a bit. Your videos are the best I’ve come across. The way you explain things is detailed but very easy to digest and take in. You’re great at what you do - in both doing hair and explaining how to do hair. I can’t thank you enough!
I really appreciate you taking your time out and doing it step-by-step slowly and closely because I actually can understand and do it now and I’ve been trying for years watching other people’s videos and they just really be doing it and not showing you step-by-step. Thank you. you’re a blessing. Love you.❤
I absolutely love this man! My mom has custody of my sisters kids and they’re mixed so she has trouble doing their hair. I learned to French braid and cornrow within a week! Now I can help my mom out with doing their hair!!!
I have a two year old daughter who has mixed hair and this is the ABSOLUTELY BEST video I have ever seen. I’ve watched probably over 20-30 videos since my daughter has been born and have had never seen any go into this depth. Seriously thank you this has helped so much when it comes to braiding her hair. SO THANKFUL🩷
THANK YOU, Linwood, for this video. I am the ONLY one of four sisters who never learned to cornrows growing up, which meant I could never cornrow my two daughters' hair when THEY were growing up, which always made me feel like I was lacking as a mom. I knew the general idea, but the actual technique eluded me, and watching others didn't really help me much. This video has literally changed everything for me. You are an amazing teacher👏🏽👏🏽 PLEASE keep doing what you're doing! Stay glam; you know I love you, boo!
OMG I've watched SO many videos trying to figure out how to add the hair as you go Without lifting the braid up or making it too loose! This finally helped me get it!!! Once you stop focusing so much on how much hair to add, which piece to add it to, etc., it becomes so much smoother and easier naturally! Thx so much for this video ❤❤
Read my mind! I have been feeling like I would never learn, and this is the clearest tutorial I have EVER seen! I WILL get this! Can’t thank you enough! 🙏💜
I had given up on tutorials on how to section the cornrows. I am so happy I decided to give this one a chance. I learned a lot more than I even expected. Especially appreciated the tip of watching the braid from the top and not lifting down see the bottom and not bending my fingers so tightly. Thank you!
1- It was the triangular starting corner that made the difference for me. 2- Moreover, your explanation concerning the shape of the head in conjunction with parting small sections of hair at a time has now solved the mystery behind the many complications I often encounter when it comes to parting. 3- Not to mention the forward head tilt in order to avoid traction alopecia. Important! 4- This video has been very helpful. I thank you for sharing your expert knowledge.
Omg I can’t believe it !! I finally know how to braid as a black woman I’ve always been ashamed of it !! I learned in 20 minutes bc of you! Thanks so much ❤
As a 23 yr old mixed person, who was raised by a prominently white family. Thank you for teaching me. I know how to braid, just never learned how to do cornrows properly. 💙
I’m white and I chose to learn all hair types and styles! I’ve always been interested in other cultures. Hopefully your family is watching these videos ❤
The hand placement helped at first and then while telling myself “right under middle, left under middle” , I kept losing my middle due to the hair being grabbed. It’s harder on myself but this video gives me hope to keep trying. You do it with simplicity and grace!
You are a great teacher!!! I really like how you reminded us to talk ourself through it. I’m legit gonna go to sleep saying “under the middle, left under the middle, right under the middle” haha so good! Great job!!!
I was looking under the braid so you helped me when you said to keep it close to the scalp. Loved the tips on parting the hair! Also loved the tip for the uneven end of the braid and taking a little bit from the other strands to even it out! Awesome video! My 3 year old hates me right now because I’m trying to braid his never cut hair! THANK YOU!
I tried learning how to braid months ago but couldn’t grasp the concept so I gave up. I just found your video today and completed my first braid I keep repeating and they keep getting better! Your video was SO SO helpful thank you so much for breaking it down in a way I can understand and apply to my own life making me finally successful after years of wanting to learn!
I love your videos there too funny to watch when my cousin comes in my room they see me on the floor cracking up watching your videos and tell the girls I said hi and Leah thank you and hi
3 tips that were super helpful for me. 1: starting small gives the tight look w/o having to pull the hair tight. 2: don’t worry about how much hair you’re picking up. 3: have a wristband to keep your clips on so you don’t have to keep setting them down. Thank you!
My daughter is 20 months old and her future self thanks you because what I was sending her to daycare with was LAUGHABLE! YOU sir are the only one who's been able to explain it to me in a way I understand not even my mother could ever 😩 you should be proud of yourself your wife needs to be proud of what you're doing for the black girl who can't braid community! I never knew about you until tonight but bet your ass I am subscribing for future tips and telling my girlfriend's about you 🙏🏾💕 Happy Valentines Day
I just ordered my mannequin I already have the stand. Can’t wait to start with your videos. Thank you for sharing and not keeping knowledge to yourself. It helps people like me who do not know how to braid but always wanted to learn. ❤❤❤❤
I've watched so many videos on braiding and your videos are so much more into detail to the hand motions, positions, and how you're holding it...I love it. Thank you so much 💜💜💜
Do you worry about your braids coming out even across the head at this point or could you do the first row on the opposite side and alternate sides? This was a very informative video. Thank you

I'm almost 27 and never learned to braid to the scalp a day in my life. I watched this video, took some deep breaths, and just braided my son's hair for the first time on my own and I'll only get better from here..! 😭 so thankful for this video 😍🙏🏾
Me too! this video helped so much. I'm so happy it came up on google.
I’m 33 and about to braid my daughter’s hair 🥴
Congratulations 🎈🎊🎉 I’m with you. I’m watching this video tryna braid my youngest hair. We got this. Just gotta practice.
Yay I did too he’s the best instructor. Congratulations 🎉
Omg you’re heaven sent!!! So many people have tried to show me how to braid I watched this video once and got it down packed! Thank you so much!!!!
Thanks so much for your feedback! I’m so happy that the video helped you!
You taught me how to cornrow at the age of 28 in 7 mins. Thank you 🙏🏽
Same, I've watched so many videos on how to do cornrows and I did my neatest one yet after one video. It just clicked and made sense, he's amazing 🥰
Girl I'm 30 and I feel u
Wow! I’m trying learn fast like you
I’m 14 and my mom keeps telling me to learn how to do my own hair and this is helping! It might just take a bit to actually master it
Love that for us for real 🥲🥹
After 8 years I was finally able to cornrow my daughters hair... thank you. What helped me understand was the part you said you’ll naturally pick up hair and bringing the side pieces under the middle
ruclips.net/video/Fx-VXRgQ0tg/видео.html
I'm a guy with no cornrows skills whatsoever. I learned to braid using 3 shoestrings😂. My mom is 84 with beautiful long silver hair, but has arthritis and has trouble gripping her hair. Soooo,... I wat h your tutorial, ordered a mannequin and immediately learned to cornrows fairly well thanks to you! Now I can surprise mom and help her out with her hair. Your truly a beast & a professional 💯👍🏽
The tip that helped me the most is “left under the middle , right under the middle” lol I just sing it every time I begin a braid and it works 🤘🏾😂
I lie to you not…. The song you sang just helped me….. my cornrow ain’t the best looking but I did it……thanks for sharing
Agrreed!
yes!!!!!
@@joilag.9519 OMG YESSSSS!!! THATS THE ONLY THING I GOT FROM THIS VIDEO!!!
Yesssss
I AM GOING TO TRY THIS ON MY MAN, HE AINT GOING TO NO AFRICAN SHOP!
😂😂😂 he really is, u hit the nail on the head 😅
WELL STATED!! Diddo!!
White girl here, trying to learn how to braid my black sister's hair. 👋 Thank you SO much, this seems so much less daunting now than it did a few minutes ago and I'm so excited to give it a try! 😍
eyy, white girl here trying to learn to braid my black brothers hair, I feel the same way! this video is great
Thank you so much! I was raised by a narcissist mother who absolutely hated me. She taught my sisters this but never taught me. And my sisters refuse to teach me. Thank you for this. God bless you. I’m 36 just now learning how to do this. The world needs more people like you. ❤
I’m sending you some love sister! I hope you are surrounded by people who only treat you best. I named my daughter Penelope. Beautiful name 🤗
Same girl im 37❤😊 good luck as well to u
Same, none of my family taught me how.
I taught myself & it's been ruff 😅
It’s like watching Bob Ross paint a painting. So peaceful 😩
Right
Omg. I swear!!!!
The detail and his voice is crazy the similar for real😂😂😂
Exactly what I was thinking
Yeeeees
I have watched and attempted cornrows for years on my daughter's hair, I had honestly given up. We tried crochet braids, styling her hair in box braids, that honestly took so long and she was miserable during the process. I recently decided to do crochet braids again, this time trying cornrows and then crocheting her twists in, while I am just learning and know it will take time, this video has been the best instructional video that I have ever watched. Thank you, there may be hope after all ❤️
Thank you so very much! I am so thankful that my video was able to be of help to you!
update: i had a mental breakdown, beat up my mannequin, and i cried alot:/
😭😭😭 SAME
it happens 🤷🏾♀️😂
I feel so bad for u guys and the mannequin
You'll get it eventually, don't fret ❤️
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 word
Thank you so very much! I appreciate you!
I’m so happy it helped! I hope you see improvement in your braids as well! ❤️❤️
Shame they won't perform a hairstyle originally from europe
Give us an update Queen!!
That's fantastic, we need a video of the results
@@KC-nn5wc it's not originally from Europe, cornrows aren't originally from europe💀💀💀fucking bird brain
He teaches this so well ❤ He's a true professional!
Thank you so very much, Thanks for watching!
I'm grateful for the wealth of content on here from many people. But this tutorial shows the difference between someone who knows how to do a Cornrow showing us versus an experienced cosmetologist with a gift for teaching. Thank you for all the small tips too along the way. I have 2 young daughters and keen to improve how to braid their hair, thank you ❤️
Goundou
you telling me i don’t need to worry about how much hair i pick up relived so much pointless anxiety and the hand positions came thru
Awesome! I’m so glad it helped! Thanks for watching!
Omg yes, that's my biggest concern when cornrowing. Which I then overthink and end up grabbing too much. 💜💜 I'm a beginner and learning on my son's hair. That helped me breathe.
YES! Me too! I was trying to get from the left, right, middle. It was not going well. at all.
righttt I overthink too much as well. I'm happy he mentioned that
I’m 25 and after years of trying your video actually showed me how to braid.
So thank you so much for this❤️
Your a great cousin for doing this!!! God bless you ❤️
Aww...god bless yall and rip to their mother 🙏🙏🙏❤

Welcome to the group sis. The struggle continues but u never alone😂
😂😂 don't feel bad! Neither can I.. it didn't mean much until I had a little girl. 🤦♀️

I have been trying to do cornrows forever and no one I mean no one explained the process like you. This is awesome!!! Thank you.
Thanks so much! I’m so happy I could help!
My aha moment is that I don’t need to focus on grabbing hair it’ll naturally get into the braid. Can you do a video on how to do cornrows on myself?
To me cornrowing has always seemed so overwhelming to me and so hard but when you broke down the steps it made me a little more comfortable and confident in learning and doing it ✨✨💙💙
I’m so glad it helped! I actually teach cosmetology at a high school! Thanks for watching!
Your way of teaching is absolutely fantastic! It feels like you really take the time to explain the minute details that can come so naturally to experienced stylists. Super helpful and very educational, thank you :)
Thank you!!! As a granny of 5 black grandsons, learning to braid is HUGE especially when trying to save my kids 💰 Thank you so much!!!
My daughter is happy because now her mommy can braid her hair! Thank you
I used to be able to braid my butt off when I was younger, but since I haven’t done it in so long, I find myself struggling a bit. Your videos are the best I’ve come across. The way you explain things is detailed but very easy to digest and take in. You’re great at what you do - in both doing hair and explaining how to do hair. I can’t thank you enough!
I can’t braid for shit I’m tired of paying people so I’m trying to learn 😭
Same. When I was younger I was so good at it. Thought it was like riding a bike. But here I am relearning. Great video!
Aww im an aunty to mixed babies too (3 and 5) my sister struggles with my nieces hair
Aww thank you so much! Thanks for watching! I am so glad the video helped you!
Im 15 and Im so done spending money on getting my hair done so I thought why not do it myself? This video has really helped me out ❤😊
OMG I've watched SO many videos trying to figure out how to add the hair as you go Without lifting the braid up or making it too loose! This finally helped me get it!!! Once you stop focusing so much on how much hair to add, which piece to add it to, etc., it becomes so much smoother and easier naturally! Thx so much for this video ❤❤
I haven’t been able to cornrow for as long as I can remember and just did two perfectly from watching this video :) thank you !
Congratulations! That is so exciting!
Staying close to the head was my moment of clarity. Can’t wait to try this out again
Read my mind! I have been feeling like I would never learn, and this is the clearest tutorial I have EVER seen! I WILL get this! Can’t thank you enough! 🙏💜
Yasssss exactly
Thank y’all! Thanks for watching!
Thank you so very much for your feedback! I appreciate you! Thanks for watching!

I'm learning dad trying to learn to braid my daughters hair thanks for the good info

Oh my!! I just had that "aahh ha!" moment with the parting of the hair...you are a great teacher.. and for free!! Thanks..blessings
I'm not here because people came into my comments saying I needed your help. I'm not. I'M NOT! OK, I AM!

Lol ha ha ha love both of you guys! You both remind me of my hubby!!!! Ha ha ha LaGuardia is so funny!
3 tips that were super helpful for me. 1: starting small gives the tight look w/o having to pull the hair tight. 2: don’t worry about how much hair you’re picking up. 3: have a wristband to keep your clips on so you don’t have to keep setting them down.
Thank you!

Do you worry about your braids coming out even across the head at this point or could you do the first row on the opposite side and alternate sides? This was a very informative video. Thank you
