im looking to buy a m3 e36 in ny, or out of state, what year's are good to get?1990's?or 2000's? First car of my own, i drifted a few times before, but was a honda civic. Any suggestions? I don't know much about cars.

Love it man...I'm actually looking to do this swap but with an LQ4/9 motor in my e36.. Where did you get the swap kit from and did you do the work yourself? I love the editing too..what do you shoot and edit with? Cinematography happens to be a huge hobby of mine as well. :)

Bsaint, was wondering if you used a kit for the ls swap or did you mostly custom fabricate things yourself?
Mainly Vorshlag stuff, although there was some parts that were custom ordered.

3 years and about 10k, yours is going to cost atleast 15-20 to do right

I'm guessing you had this car for quite a while, how is it holding up? I'm planning to do an ls1 swap on my is300, but afraid random things may break since it's going to be a swapped car. Have you had any problems with your m3 ever since the swap?
Car for 7 years swap for 3 holding up great, less problems than the s52 thats for sure.
What kind of mounts/driveshaft did you use?

This car is awesome man! I just wish I could find a decent example of a stock-ish e36 m3...not one to be found on autotrader right now :(
Yeah all the sub 10k are all beat to crap, you have to spend a few thousand more for a better example but its worth it.
Bsaint Decent ones in Ontario would go for like 15-18k, and they would only be up for a couple days tops...I took the boring route and got a newer GTI....but ill always wonder what it would have been like :'( #greatwhitebuffalo
I don't really know if I like this swap. I mean the car is great and it is very nice too and I'm sure it is a hell of a fast car. But the thing should be an s62 or something like that. Just to keep it as an M car. But it is great and enjoyed the video a lot.
xingomuxo thats the great thing about cars, when it's yours you can do whatever you want to it. Also this engine is a lot lighter and puts a lot more power out than a S62, I actually thought about doing an S85 but they are just still too expensive. Maybe in a few more years.

Sick!!!! I have a black E36 M3 for about a year now. Someone crashed into us not to long ago. The car was viewed as a total lost. Yet, we managed to get the car back. So my dad and I are building the car from the ground up together. Those rims would go perfect with the car. Does anyone know what rims those are. Also great video!!! Much love on the E36.
Those look like e92 m wheels not sure tho check
They are M3 CSLs off of the E46 M3 competition package. Very common in the bmw world.

Why ls6 over the ls1
They are practically the same, both 5.7 the ls6 just has better cam/heads and manifold it was used in the c5 z06 and makes more power. Thats why.

I love when people say LS1 ruined it lol. Shows how miss informed people are about those motors. The stock s52 inline 6 is an iron block and the ls v8 an alum so even though I changed to v8 its 80lbs lighter. And I more then doubled the power and kept all the 50/50 weight distribution and handling. So you say ruined. I say improved. Regardless its more fun to drive and I enjoy it. Thanks

Tell me, how would the Harley gang react if they saw someone coming up in a Harley with a BMW boxer? Putting the LS6 in the M3 is the same blasphemy. For you Americans it may look ok, but for us Europeans it is destroying a legend.
This is no more M3. M3 is not chasis. M3 is S family engine. You can put this LS6 in ordinary e36 and you have same efeckt. this car looks like a model for a display case, not a vehicle that can eat up the German highway every day. That's what the M3 is, a car that you can use to commute to work every day for 10 years, driving 200 kmh +, but on request you can also go shopping with your mother completely stress-free. The problem is that the real M3 was never sold in America, only the volksM3 for underdeveloped Americans. All M models sold in the US until the mid-90s had reduced power or even engines from the M family, not S. And in the US, most M models were sold with an automatic transmission, which is total blasphemy. Who normal could buy an M with an automatic?
There is more to the M3 then just an engine, for example if you put an M3 engine in a 318 it doesn’t make it an M3. Also in the US we got a junk M3 engine anyways so I don’t feel bad at all swapping it out. The car is 1000 X more fun now all while maintaining 50/50 weight distribution and gets better gas mileage while doubling the hp and torque. It also does 160mph plus now and the LS is much more reliable than the S52 so you can absolutely daily drive it, So suck it
