    Thanks for the video! If you want to tame the lightening crashes, look into getting an audio DSP. I used to work 160m (much more susceptible to lightening noise than 40m) every night with a group of friends here in the States. I picked up a West Mountain Radio CLRspkr and was impressed with how much more enjoyable that Noisy band became. More brands also have Audio DSP's out now (that was ~16 years ago) so there's more variety to choose from.
    Keep spreading the good word! 73 - mike - N4ONL

    Will 300 ohm ladder line work just as well?

    • @timg5tm941
      @timg5tm941  5 лет назад

      Possibly so. I did the same to a linear loaded quarter wave vertical for 40 so worth a go... also less wind loading than the 450 ohm

    Did you twist all four ends of the ladder line together?

    I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. I tried modeling an 80m version of your antenna on the *_MMANA-GAL_* software and the SWR was crazy. Then, on a whim, I asked the software to _”optimize”_ the design. It came up with a modified version with decent SWR, except … the overall length was *LONGER* that ½ wavelength on 80m - 59.7 meters!
    I’m new to antenna modeling, so I undoubtedly made a rookie mistake somewhere. For example, I don’t know how to model ladder line. I just used individual wires in free space.

      hmmmm thats not right. For 80m you should double the length of my 40m version and then trim both lower wires at the feedpoint end to get the tune on the portion of 80 that you need.

    Can one of these be used multiband?

    • @timg5tm941
      @timg5tm941  3 года назад +1

      Yes as long as you feed it with 300 or 450 ohm ladderline and into a balanced tuner or if using an unbalanced tuner via a 1:1 or 4:1 current Balun. 73

    Took a bit to understand how it was put together but I paused video to see config at feed point. Think I got it.

    You deserve more subscribers Tim. This is quality content and very well presented. I’d hazard a guess and say you were a teacher or a lecturer or someone used to presenting info like this. I’m experimenting with end fed antennas, but I might start looking at this antenna for 40, certainly great results! 73 Tim, from Tim.
