From the looks of it I can now remove lutris and use heroic instead because it now has all the function that I needed. This is a very big update indeed.
Lutris is still useful over Heroic for some things. For example: the Epic versions of the recent Tomb Raider games work way better if installed through Lutris over Heroic.
What Lutris does uniquely is the user-contributed install scripts, which automatically applies workarounds.
It is a testament to the WINE and Proton folks that workarounds are becoming less necessary though.
@@HululusLabs I'd like the user install scripts better if they were structured more like Arch does the AUR.
Lutris' ones are difficult to get access to and understand

Can we install non steam games via heroic?
Auto adding to steam is such a small thing in the scheme of things but the convenience makes it so much more appealing to me. Definitely props for so many improvements to the launcher.
Does this mean I can play epic games offline I really want to play sifu offline

This feature doesn't work for me, I check the box and go back to steam and I have no extra games.

This is actually super useful. I'm surprised it took this long for Heroic to add these QOL features.
The program is about two years old and wasn't particularly useful for the first year. I would say this is plenty fast development time.
I'm glad they added the ability to queue downloading games, that was my biggest issue with the Heroic Launcher in the past.
For once I am glad the yt algo gave me a video suggestion, because this is an amazing application to have now.

Just got my Deck. I need to check out this launcher as I do have a lot of free games from Epic store and some GoG as well.

it skipped cinematic from games, u can see it skipped cinematic from darq game too

@@Steve-yq5fh I managed to get it working for me a slightly different way. Basically download the installer. Add the installer as a non-steam game. Run the installer through Steam. After the installer finishes, shut down the application. Edit the properties of the non-steam game. And pointed to the new install directory for the application. I'm sorry I'm not providing exact file paths. I'm at work. But I believe in you

Thanks mate. I haven't used my steam deck for a while and I couldn't find options you're showing however you helped me realised I've got like 15 updates and heroic louncher was one of them 😂😂

Looks interesting and I'll give it a go. If I want to install mods, I'm guessing that's still a very manual process.
Any Idea when heroic will enable cloud saves from epic ? Kinda sucks that you have to start a new game in the majority of games i play,. Im guessing this is more of an epic problem

Xbox gamepass for PC uses UWP which atleast for now can't be interpreted with WINE/proton

Doesn't it opens some doors for a Linux Gamepass in the future ?
Because now, I can browse my PC Gamepass games, see all files and folders, the game.exe etc...
All of this can be interpreted by wine and proton right ?
damn, i was so excited with the new release thinking it might fix the problems i had with it when i first installed onto my new steam deck. sadly, it seems i'm having the same problems. i tried playing around with the settings, tried proton and wine, and tried running from both desktop and game mode, but it still broken for me.
on the plus side, i now know how to actually set up the deck controls properly (gamepad, mouse, trackpads, etc) so using the epic launcher isn't such a bad experience as when i first got my deck. basically i've made different steam input profiles, and can simply switch them for the intended game. just imagine, to navigate the launcher before, i actually held down the steam button because i did not know the mouse could be permanently mapped to the trackpad.

@@alanredacted I think it is much easier just to install Edge and modify its steam shortcut. I really enjoyed playing Forza 5.
Followed these steps step by step, and it was working until I tried to log into the EA App and I got hit with a "technical difficulties" error. But it worked up until then
For some reason it won't let me press the file to actually get the .exe on there but it won't work? However I can touch the wine prefix folder and it brings up dolphin? Any ideas on how to fix that?

How are you getting games to run? I downloaded daemon x machina from heroic. It ran in desktop mode but in game mode, I just get the steam logo (loading circle) forever. I also can't exit the game. I have to restart the steam deck to actually leave the game

Wow this is really interesting. I am just curious how it compares to lutris. In terms of user friendly less its on par or even better since you can add the games tp the steam library from within the program. But I know lutris typically has custom scripts that downloads or adds configurations to make the game/program more compatible with linux. Just curious if anyone knows if Heoric does the same thing?
Heroic does not have anything like Lutris' install scripts... yet
I still haven't figured out how to play "Among The Sleep" from Epic Games Store, on the Heroic Launcher. I've even tried launching the game from the Desktop Mode, to no avail, as well as Proton Experimental and older versions of Proton. Even though the Steam version says it's Steam Deck verified.

Heroes 3 Complete, Grim Fandango both not working through Heroic/adding to Steam. Hangs at deck loading screen.
I might give this a go. There's a few games on EA that I would like to try again, like The Saboteur.
We need something like this for itch games, I have a lot of those from various bundles
Automatically adding to steam feature is a godsend.
Update tried sideloading EA app and despite changing the password. attempting to sign to EA APP on steam deck appears to invalid my password and I have to change it again. also attempted to play gog games using the added as steam deck and got the spinning loop of death. needs more work.
When I launch the game on my steam deck it’s nothing but a black screen but I do hear the game audio.
It's had the option to add to Steam automatically for a while - it just didn't seem to work before. Can you test it on the Steam Deck with removable storage? For some odd reason, lots of Heroic games would just silently fail if they weren't installed to the internal drive.
Yeah, definitely giving this a bump. Same issue here still; I have the base-level steam deck so not much internal storage and would install all of that on my SD card

Does it allow playing epic games without internet? I had some issues with it when launching on steam deck game mode.
Depends on the game. Unlike GOG, sever epic games has DRM and won't work while offline.
Heroic shows on the game page if a game requires online connection or not. Although this information is not 100% accurate. So you will need to test to be sure.
@@FlavioFearn I tried games that I can launch directly with exe on windows, like tale of two sons, axiom verge and plague tale, those games when installed with heroic launch just fine with lutris when I point it to exe. With epic games still not fixed in lutris, I have been downloading epic games with heroic and launching them with lutris. Works great but it's a bother.
It keeps trying to install the games on the internal memory even if I set the path to the microSD in settings/general... This is annoying
Did every step as shown and I kept getting the EXPIRED CREDENTIALS message during login, I did contact EA and customer service tried to help; after resetting the password three times I was able to log in to my old origin launcher but kept getting the same error message when trying to login to the ea app.
Has this happened to anyone else?
This was exactly my experience. It kept invalidating my EA credentials (meaning I had to reset my password to login on any device)
This has happened to me and now I can't unlock my account. Wondering why this is happening
@@foxmcleod It detects installing on WINE on your Steam deck as "Suspicious account activity." Origin will install and let me login (and I have temporarily used this as a work around) but not the EA app.

@@gamingonlinux Yes of course it’s. And yes I have ‘bugged’ them. However it’s just another launcher and it would be nice to see a 3rd party tackle it like they have for UBI EA origin et al. I suspect it’s trickier than those launchers as there are half a dozen windoze services it relies on.
When I've installed the games, go back into Steam Game Mode and launch the games they just show the "Steam loading" screen. Nothing more happens...
I can't use this because it freezes when I try to switch directories to my sd card.

Hi, epic login, but page comes up with normal website with price tag games.
so, i just got my deck and installed alien isolation from heroic, added it to steam and when executing it just loads forever no sign of wine booting something but when i launch the heroic launcher and then the dame it boots right up
No such app comes up when searching Heroic Games Launcher from within Discover on Steam Deck’s desktop.
I tried to find it seems it was removed.

I tried using heroic games launcher about 2 months ago. When I use it to launch the epic games store I noticed that it didn’t show all my games, particularly those that needed EA Origin access, like Jedi Fallen Order. Is this now fixed or is there a work around for this problem?

For some reason the flatpak version of heroic just doesn't work for me. It used to at one point, but now when you launch it is just a blank window.
This update doesn't seem to be in the app image version either. A shame, I don't know of a way to fix it either.
I read proton experimental could not be used with heroic launcher, how did you get it to work with yours?

It just works, I use it for a bunch of games. You can try enabling steam runtime, sometimes it can help.

There's a save problem, when i play the epic games via heroic launcher(or directly by adding steam). Needless to say clould saving, when I save the game and quit and restart it, there's no continue button but new game.(when i don't quit the game, there remains continue button) How can i solve it??

I add GOG account to heroic and download my Witcher 3: Complete edition and....its not working in steam Game Mode (endless launching) but its work only in Desktop mode(but without my saves in the game)...I try different protons and wines but without results in game mode...any suggestions ??? The same way works very well for my games on my Epic account in heroic , including a game mode and desktop mode....So why GoG is not work properly????

No, the automatic option is for when you install them, it won't go back and add everything already installed as they would be messy as people might not want everything suddenly there if they've got lots installed. For those, you can do as shown on the EA app and add them manually through Heroic.

Hoping someone has a solution.. I have ea play through gamepass.. So when I launch ea play through Heroic and I select login with Xbox is tries to launch a browser so I can login through gamepass, but it never happens...any idea how I can make this work?

Hey Linux I add ubisoft connect through heroic launcher it launches but the issue is it won't download the game through ubisoft connect because it can't find the sd card and my storage is low for my deck hard drive. I saw your other video to download in steam gaming mode for ubisoft connect and saw the sd guide but the issue is how can I do the same thing with heroic launcher. When I can't find the launch option or maybe add to the launch options? Hopefully you can do a video to add to game to sd card with heroic launcher.
why should i use this over lutris? it doesnt seem to add anything that lutris doesnt have
How were you able to log in to the EA app? When ever I try, it invalidates my password (requiring a password reset to log into ANY device). Every time I try to login...

Do all Epic games work? I’ve tried 20XX and it keeps crashing from a D3D error and when I try Centipede Recharges the game loads with no sounds just past the logo screen and just hangs on the loading screen.

How do you get games to run on herioc. I always have an issue with the wine manager, what version should I use? I get heroic, log into epic games, and downloaded AC Valhalla, but everytime I run it. It just doesn't load. No screen nothing. I had to install Ubisoft connect to get it, which works. I have such a huge EGS library but thinking I need to download the store instead of heroic.

You can launch Dead Space directly from Steam? or you need launch EA App first?
As far as I know, there's no way to tell the new EA App to automatically launch a game. The old EA launcher, Origins, had launch command features that allowed you to launch games directly from Steam (including Gaming Mode). I hope someone in the community can figure out how to do this with the EA App soon, or EA adds launch command compatibility into the EA App
Good question (my initial reply got confused) as far as I know, not currently as it’s an additional standalone launcher added in so Heroic wouldn’t know where to look.

well since this update I can't log into my epic account anymore. It 's always telling me wrong credentials. So I'm not enthusiastic at all about this update.

EA blocked my creds and forced me to change my password whenever I tried to login.
