Remember the 6800 Ultra also came out in 2004 as a 512mb card too which was needed to max out Doom 3 one of the first games to require more than 256mb of vram.
@@HondaAccordPerformanceThere was no 512MB version of the 6800U in 2004. That was in 2005. Also, Doom 3 does not require a 512MB card on Ultra Quality settings as I have successfully maxed the texture settings on a 256MB 6800GT with no issues. If you cranked the resolution [beyond 1024x768 or 1280x960] I could see it benefitting from a 512MB card but it wasn’t necessary at all, nor could you find one when Doom 3 was new. With a low enough resolution a Radeon 8500 64MB can handle High Quality textures without any problems, based on my own tests.
Hey, good to see another retro gpu channel, I don't have any video on the the 9800 XT but I own one.. Might do a build around it sometime, beast of a card back then 👍
I had this card. Cost a fortune for me at the time. I like how back then, it was like "omg I can run this game" and had a good time even with shitty fps
This card was a monster back then. Probably best card 2003/2004
I have it and its worth $200 now

not too bad for a card which was more than 4 years old when crysis came out. and back then 4 years were a lot for pc components
4 years is still a lot a 980 ti gpu loses to a mid range 1660ti you

This was my card before I finally got my 8800 ultra.
why should i get a 5900xt when we have a 9800xt
rofl
That's my boy sorry I never own that gpu I wish. But I have 9550 xt.
The first level isnt even that big of an issue but many later levels with the aliens just kill it.
Wtf? A core 2 duo cpu with agp?
yes and surprisingly there are boards that you can pair agp GPU with core2 extreme x9650 or AMD phenom II X4
had radeon 9800se and soft modded it to 9800pro with 4 extra pipelines unlocked. Was the best and most bang for the bucks gpu i had in my life
So bad compared to playing it at high res on Ultra, looks a totally different game lol
Looks like Far Cry 1.
