I am Norwegian, from Norway. Born and raised. I live in Oslo, with my husband and son.

I have to say, as an english speaker who also speaks german, this language is simply mind boggling in how different it is, mind boggling in how many parallels I can draw with german, and mind boggling in it's pronunciation. Can't wait to begin!

hva skjønnhetene!!!!
It's exactly i wanted to say! So thank you very much
Tusen Takk. I learnt a little Danish while in Denmark, so Norwegian seems very similar to Danish, i feel. Peace from India.
thank you
Fantastic! Go on with your videos.:-)
please told me also when kan we use du and deg? thanks for your cooperation.
@kcmo1988 No, takk means thanks. However, the reason they used that exact phrase is because there is no "please" in the formal. It sounds awfully weird when I think about it, but please is used more in informal speech between friends and families, but then it's used in "would you be so kind"-type (v'ær så snill). Please, translated "vennligst" is not usually used in formal speech, unless you are offended by something or are simply being condescending.
Customs are weird, huh?
great ! , so i speak spanish is there some in spanish ? . greetings from peru Machupicchu
Hej girls, are there any typical sitcoms we can watch, in norwegian obviously ?
can you make some dating conversations???
thats very nice! thank you!! :)
How do you say Aass Fat øl is the best beer in Norway ?
I dated an exchange student from Norway in High School, hun heter Caroline. She got me interested in Norway and learning norwegian. i want to come to the country sometime for a tour. I am really enjoying your videos, Karin! They are awesome and useful! :) I love trying to learn things literally when I am translating languages, when it is possible. In the sentence -"Vil du dra pa kino?" does it kind of mean Will you drag me out to the movies? We say that to our friends in English sometimes. i am just very curios of the literal meaning of this sentence in Norsk. Tussen takk Karin!
haha, that is pretty funny. it could mean that yes, cause "dra" also means "drag" or "pull". But it is also just a word for going some place, to leave, to be going. But it is a funny way to learn it though :D
Thanks, Karin! That is so cool! It is funny. I love learning things like this. Sorry to drag you this comment section, but thanks for replying. :)
love it...
Okey okey! How it should works? Btw what about Norwey? Is that possible to stay there for me? Please!!!
"og", I am a bit confused with this word ... I was taught that "g" is not said in case of many Norwegian words which end with letter 'g', _especially_ with "og", so "og" should be said much like the sound "å" only. But you say 'g' too ... Another question: do you say 'g' too with words end in -ig, like in "veldig' or 'dårlig"? And the most important: thanks for the new video :) I am about to visit Finland this summer, but hopefully I can return to Norway soon as well :) :)
@Ndjumbah that´s two of us man... she´s 14 thousand miles away and still breaking hearts
Hey, thanks for this vid (:
great video
så bra! takk =)
I notice similarities with Scottish gaelic it is interesting how language spreads with migration as most Scottish are descended from Nordic settlers.
Since norwegian has three more letters than english, does that mean that there are specific norwegian keyboards? God help me if I learn Bokmal and I meet someone who only speaks Nynorsk...lol.
nice video, nice girls, I want to learn norwegian :) thx for upload
du er best lærer kjære
Uau..I think i'll never be able to speak Norwegian, but i can see a lot similarities with German! By the way my mother language is Portuguese ;P!!
Nice video :D!
Hei alle sammen ! Hvordan gar det med dere ? Bor du i Ooshloo ? Jeg bor i Chicago ! Jeg studere Norsk online !!
Halo, Ray ! Jeg kommer fra Brazil og jeg lære norsk online også !
nice video.
nice lesson :)
Nynorsk is only a written language, but there are dialects out there that even most Norwegians would have a hard time understanding. æ ø and å shouldn't be a problem, as if you write ae, oe and aa instead, most norwegians can understand it.
takk for deg og vennen deg:)
nice ...
I am interested to know what is this word means. Please urgent innkjøpssentral I am not sure if the translation is correct. Thank you
I wish the audio was a bit more clear.
takk
A typo is a typo is a typo.
You two are too cute lol
i will practice and let see if my "social" being" works in there...:)
@
@MarginalPain oh yeah.. i needed to explaine something I noticed to late.. That when you answe the questions.. the words change ^^
ol=beer?...awesome!!!!.....jeg liker ol!!!!!!
hei, jeg er i Halden og jeg vil gjerne snakke norsk med deg...tusen takk
haha, loves this! totally looks and hears like a Dora the explorer episode in norwegian xD digger det ;)
what is the difference between 'dra på kino' and 'ta en øl'? why can we use both these interchangeably?
dra på kino: go to the cinemaø
ta en øl: have a beer.
You wouldn't use them in English interchangeably, would you?:))
Bilal Yousaf lol I'm sorry but that's funny
Takk for jhelpen
Hei!
You know... single words aren't really the problem. I already know some sentences and words (well... at least in theory) and i can pronounce them. But... when trying to put them in a complete sentence and talking as fast as you... it doenst work.
I guess... the words sound different wheter saying them one by one or in a quick sentence.
Are there any hints you can provide me? I would be most thankful.
Thanks in advance!
Ha det bra!
PS: Jeg kommer fra Tyskland.
you say when go for a walk you use gå but when you say go to a party you use dra can u tell me the difference between gå and dra ?
Efrem Ghebrihiwet Gå is the verb that is walking, but going to a party is the "leaving to go to a party", you dont really have to walk :) You can go by buss/taxi, its just the fact that you are going there, not walking there :)
Norwegian Teacher - Karin
Hei Karin, jeg can forstår og snakke litt Norsk, Kan du hjelpe meg hvor kan jeg praksis min Norsk med noen gang i oslo. Tusen takk for din videoer :)
(Yes, writing at norwegian, use google translate or ask me for translation of single words if you do not understand)
Norsk er et av de språkene man kan snakke ekstremt fort, hovedsaklig fordi man kan snakke på innpust (et av de eneste språkene i verden). Vi snakker også "oppover", som om vi stiller spørsmål uansett hva vi sier. (dette gjelder folk som bor på østlandet; i dialekter heller ofte tonefallet nedover). Tenk at du stiller spørsmål hele tiden, da blir ordene enklere å uttale. :)
Great video Karin and Lindy!
Lindy -- "dot dot dot" xD
Jag VILL. Var ska jag anmäla mig??? :D
How much time do u want for learning in complete mode norwegian language ??????????
Im sorry, but I dont know what you mean?
For speak and write good norwegian language how much time do u want for you ?
Jatinder Singh
Are you giving it 100%? Because i know people that have made themselves understood in 3 months!
Ok thanks !
Is it the same if instead of "jeg vil ikke ta en ol" you say "jeg vil ikke ha en ol"? "ta" is more usual and "ha" is more for a grammar way of saying it?
awesome ;D
I think they're funny... I'm gonna move to Norway, can't wait...
this is from 12 years ago. ?
Yes, this is bokmål :) This is the way the norwegians from Oslo and the area around speak.
Haha, there are Norwegian keyboards but you can just google "Norwegian keyboard" that should help :)
I can not wait to return! :-O :-D
yeah norwegians have a specific keyboard with æ, ø and å
im actually learning swedish but i find norwegian much easier to understand hahah

@justforpolyglots Not to a Norwegian :) But I completely understands your point ^^
hey you guys got tan! Lookin good girls!
@geir159 Ja takk !
OMG, YES TO EVERYTHING YOU ARE ASKING ME!!!!
@Crienexzy dere begge ha det gøy snakker om selv. Jeg ønsker å invitere dere jenter :-) Mine intensjoner er ren som himmelen om sommeren. Jeg heter Anatolij.
Sorry for possible errors! :-)
Nobody speaks neither bokmål nor nynorsk, since they are "written languages". All norwegian people speaks a dialect (not sure if useable english word) or sociolect, which is "spoken languages". These girls speaks in a sociolect from Oslo I think, but they speaks very slow. But if you write down their sentences, it is bokmål ;) Possible to understand?
@skaize33
Strange, many non-norwegian know about that sentence.
