I, like you, haven't read Anne McCaffrey since my teenage years and I can't remember finishing that book either. I will try her again one day, but perhaps this is not the one to start with 😁 p.s. I noticed the palette and paintbrushes on the desk. Are you also an artist?
I think I was probably too young when I first attempted one of her pern novels. I must say that her writing style was actually quite good, despite the fact that the story itself was poor. I'd like to try one of her more famous works and get a better idea of her ability. Ah yes, you have a keen eye! I'm an oil painter in my spare time :D I have a section on my channel page if you'd fancy a gander! Cheers for your comment mate!
Thanks. I will sidetrack this beauty of a book, Pride and Prejudice in space or something. Love it how the front page says 'Author of Dragonflight' intimating that it was by the author of Dragonflight, which technically it wasn't as she hadn't written Dragonflight at the time of writing Restoree, if Restoree was her first book. Glad Sir Wand of Wandiness made an appearance (can't remember his name!!!!)
Hey Rich! Yeah, I noticed that too! I'm glad she managed to find success despite this being her first published offering. I'm sure I wasn't the target audience for this however :D It was a relatively short book, but it was one hell of a slog trying to get through it. I took one look at the cover when it was sitting in my bag during the flight and that very nearly tipped me over the edge! Ha! Yes, I think you are referring to Sir Percival! He's been very quite recently :D
lol your videos are hilarous :D regardless of how bad the book is, i think i will buy it and read it. i never read any of mccaffreys books and i want to see for myself. i will also try her first book in the pern series.
I'm glad you like them! I try to do as much of it 'off the cuff' so it's difficult for me to determine what I might say! haha! I'd be interested to hear what you think if/when you read it. I'm going to try one of her pern books too. I could certainly see potential in her writing style, which was really very good, aside from the fact I didn't like the story!
