Same. I've been watching his channel since well before he got a camera on himself. David and I are the same age so we have a lot of common experiences when it comes to gaming. IMO he has the best channel covering Japanese Role Playing games.
The fact that by the end of Feburary we will have access to Yakuza Infinite Wealth, Persona 3 Reload, Granblue Fantasy Relink, and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is insane.

I hadn't heard of Quartet or Beloved Rapture before. They both look super promising! I'm especially excited about the queer themes in Beloved Rapture. We basically never get that in turn-based RPGS.
The difficult thing about 2024 will be choosing which games to get day one and which games to pick up later down the line, assuming there will be a few months with no game release. And then there's the issue of having the time to play all these games. There are still a lot of games scheduled for this year but don't yet have release dates. I'm honestly happy and terrified at the same time 😅

I hadn't heard of Unicorn Overlord until now and am impressed with the idea. I like the Vanillaware aesthetic although I'm embarrassed to admit I never played any of their games.
When you squealed after the 17 minute mark I think my mother in law thought I was watching corn and closed the door to the basement lol. I don't even want to clear it up.
That makes me think of Rudra & Burning Heroes. They both had multiple characters with separate stories where after beating them they would unlock futher character stories that I think brought them all together(I haven't gotten around to finishing either yet). Live A Live was like that too, and maybe Square Enix will give those games the same treatment as Live A Live.

Unicorn Overlord looks rather promising. I'm currently playing Persona 5 Tactica on Switch, and while I did play Fire Emblem 3 Houses, I'm still rather green when it comes to tactical RPGs. So hopefully it'll be a good one with no permadeath, or at least have permadeath be optional, so new players will be more experienced with thinking and decision making. Persona 3 Reload: I'm gonna save that one for my birthday in April, so I am excited to play it. And thanks to the quality of life updates that P4 and 5 brought to the table, I think I'm gonna be in for quite a ride Trails through Daybreak: I'm excited to get to explore the nation of Calvard, and see what new landscapes, locations, and characters have to offer. Hopefully we see some mention of the Sky Trilogy being brought to modern systems PHYSICALLY Visions of Mana looks rather promising, but I'll have to see a confirmed date to know for sure, but I hope it's good. Metaphor Re Fantazio: I still see plenty of potential in this one. I love Persona, but it'd be nice for Atlus to branch out, and this along with Unicorn Overlord could help them out of their comfort zone. Eiyuuden Chronicles: I've never played the Suikoden games, but I've heard good things about this one, and it comes out 2 days after my birthday, so it'd be a good birthday present to get for myself. As for the games released on Mobile, I'm gonna skip those entirely, because anything that's released on mobile is bound to have microtransactions and "events" to sucker players outta their money. I know, I'm old fashioned, but I have standards and I intend to uphold those standards as much as possible.
OMG INAZUMA'S COMING BACK!!! That announcement went under my radar, that's a great series that never really got a fair shake in America so I'm glad the GOAT Level 5 is giving it another try :) and yeah, I'm with you on being more interested in seeing where they take FF7's story than the game itself lol (though im sure the gameplay will be excellent). I know a lot of people wish it would have been a straight retelling of the story and characters but seeing them take some different turns makes it a lot more engaging for me personally
The way they approached the VII remake trilogy is very interesting. The entire marketing angle is basically a FFVII "What if?" packaged for the 20's. It's also uncharted territory as there just aren't many examples of taking a bonafide classic and making such extensive changes to it. Normally remakes are fairly straightforward, simple and safe projects that do well, but then becomes "just another one." Kinda the way Nintendo, Sony and Capcom handle their remakes. You bet that there are plenty of studios with legacy IPs keeping an eye on how the trilogy performs. The idea of taking older games and making them into trilogies can be both financially and creatively attractive.
Super excited for Fantasy Life i!!! Gonna pre-order 3 of them the moment preorders open so I can play with my gf and nephew 🔥 It's my most anticipated game since 2022!!! Super hyped for the release!

Thank you for the video. I'll be picking up 12 out of the 20 you listed, but the one that I didn't know about was Inazuma Eleven. I don't hate sports games and when done well, I can appreciate a sports rpg, but really, I just want to see what my nephew thinks of the game now that he's gone all in on soccer as his sport/hobby/passion.
While I am going to try to work on finishing backlog stuff this year, I know I'm still gonna get Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Granblue Re Link, Metaphor, Eiyuden and of course Visions of Mana. There are others I wanna get too, but I still need to catch up on a few series (especially Trails and Yakuza)

I'm not sure when it is coming out but, Dreamed Away is another Earthbound/Undertale type RPG that I think you would dig. There is a demo for it on Steam that is free. I really enjoyed it.

The current Persona games reminds me so much of one of my most favorite PS1 RPG's Thousand Arms which was an RPG dating Sim hybrid but it had some of the most unique looking combat in any RPG at that time I am hoping Metaphor would be just as good.

Metaphor: ReFantazio is an odd name that doesn't pique the interest, but as an actual original title with the developers involved- looks like it could be fantastic. Sand Land looks interesting, like a post-apocalyptic "what if the heroes failed" Dragon Quest style scenario. I'm equal parts excited but also skeptical about the new Mana title. The series has gone off in the wrong direction for decades now, so I'm not convinced yet, but it looks promising and hopefully it does indeed mark a return to form. It does at least indicate the Trials of Mana remake got some traction and the developers want to build upon that. It's either going to be absolutely incredible or very mid.

Lovely list, David! It's amazing to me how much content you can belt out. I'm excited for a bunch of these games, but I'd say my top three are: 3. Visions of Mana - I've been a big mana fan since I was a little boy and the world just looks charming and gorgeous as shown in the trailer. 2. Trails to Daybreak - Trails is my favorite series, and I'm VERY ready to step into Calvard for the first time. 1. Eiyuden Chronicle - This leads the list by a landslide to me. I kickstarted it, and honestly, I've needed a good "Suikoden" game for decades. The game *looks* fantastic, and I really cannot wait to dive in - with a full week of PTO - on day one!
Cat Quest III. The games are simple, adorable, and surprisingly good for action RPGs, with a lot more depth than you'd expect to their combat system. the stories are simple, though not always kid friendly despite the cutesy art style. The gameplay allows for a variety of styles, and the 'Mew Game' mode even includes things that modify the game, while giving rewards for working under the conditions, ranging from no leveling up, no gear, to more changing the gameplay like double speed, magic only, and a few others.
I've heard that the April fools thing regarding LAD was only a rumour. RGG had always intended for it to be turned based, which I think is interesting considering an brawler goes turnbased and FF goes action 😂 Another great video, thank you David! 😊
Visions of Mana, FF7 and Eiyuden Chronicles are the top three for me. Lots of others I'm interested in like Persona 3 never played 1-4 but loved 5 so excited to give the older games a chance with nicer graphics.
The majority of these games are just in the FIRST HALF of the year! I truly see 2024 to be a year remembered as an iconic year for JRPGs. If Dragon Quest 12, Final Fantasy Tactics remaster, Final Fantasy IX Remake, or even something not even hinted at gets added to the mix, it could get into the "greatest year for JRPGs" argument
Really want to pick up P3R but I only have a switch and getting a new console is out of range for me for awhile. Really want FFVIIR and Granblue too but oh well, my backlog is still neverending for the switch, 3ds and ds anyway so I'm not in any rush to get a new console soon.
Omg i have no idea how im going to handle the release window for Like a Dragon and Granblue Fantasy...im going to be constantly rorn between both games...😭😭😭 Also i love your enthusiasm for all the games you really want to play! Persona 3 was my introduction to the Persona series too. I started SMT off with a different game that was on PS2 but it didn't leave a good enough impression for me to remember it 😅

@@davidvinc I found a copy of Lunar 1 on PS1 for Christmas and it's very different from the GBA. The cutscenes are awesome and it's version with the soundtrack and making of disc.
Damit David I mentioned something along the line of a sephiroth completely destroys clouds free will in the aerith/Aeris death by actually making cloud do the deed but at the same time sephiroth does the impalement but on tifa at the same time in a FF Facebook.... So if they do three timelines like you mentioned and what I said happens and causes a third timeline I'm well idk how I'd feel about that lol.
Small correction: Eiyuden Chronicle is PS5, not PS4. Outside of that, I'm excited about most of this list, but still have a ton in last year's backlog to start.
For me its FFVII Rebirth, Granblue Fantasy, Persona 3, Dragons Dogma 2 and Trails through Daybreak/Kuro no Kiseki. With these 5 I Will have like 500 hours of gameplay.
Yeah, Visions of Mana is a definite purchase. TRUE Seiken Densetsu FOUR, here we come. Should be my game of the year after Triangle Strategy and Sea of Stars. :3 Just today, I found out about "Goblin Slayer -Another Adventurer- Nightmare Feast". I don't think the new Saga being on mobile means anything bad really. I think every remaster including Scarlet Grace got mobile ports. The gacha seems like a genuine success so they make sure the games are available for that crowd is all. Even last remnant!
For games getting a release with a firm date I am picking up Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. For games with just a 2024 release date I'll give it to Avowed which is mostly from the Obsidian pedigree I'll admit. Looking at your list I am really curious about Sandland, Inzuma 11 Victory Road and Visions of Mana. I also plan to get Sea of Stars this year. I know it came out last year but it's getting a physical release this year so...

I refuse to rush and ruin the experience of the February releases. Relink is gonna get all my love. P3 and FF7 can wait their turn. It's baffling why these top RPGs are competing for the same month.

Lovely list, David! It's amazing to me how much content you can belt out. I'm excited for a bunch of these games, but I'd say my top three are:
3. Visions of Mana - I've been a big mana fan since I was a little boy and the world just looks charming and gorgeous as shown in the trailer.
2. Trails to Daybreak - Trails is my favorite series, and I'm VERY ready to step into Calvard for the first time.
1. Eiyuden Chronicle - This leads the list by a landslide to me. I kickstarted it, and honestly, I've needed a good "Suikoden" game for decades. The game *looks* fantastic, and I really cannot wait to dive in - with a full week of PTO - on day one!

Cat Quest III. The games are simple, adorable, and surprisingly good for action RPGs, with a lot more depth than you'd expect to their combat system. the stories are simple, though not always kid friendly despite the cutesy art style. The gameplay allows for a variety of styles, and the 'Mew Game' mode even includes things that modify the game, while giving rewards for working under the conditions, ranging from no leveling up, no gear, to more changing the gameplay like double speed, magic only, and a few others.
I've heard that the April fools thing regarding LAD was only a rumour. RGG had always intended for it to be turned based, which I think is interesting considering an brawler goes turnbased and FF goes action 😂

Visions of Mana, FF7 and Eiyuden Chronicles are the top three for me. Lots of others I'm interested in like Persona 3 never played 1-4 but loved 5 so excited to give the older games a chance with nicer graphics.
The majority of these games are just in the FIRST HALF of the year! I truly see 2024 to be a year remembered as an iconic year for JRPGs. If Dragon Quest 12, Final Fantasy Tactics remaster, Final Fantasy IX Remake, or even something not even hinted at gets added to the mix, it could get into the "greatest year for JRPGs" argument

Really want to pick up P3R but I only have a switch and getting a new console is out of range for me for awhile. Really want FFVIIR and Granblue too but oh well, my backlog is still neverending for the switch, 3ds and ds anyway so I'm not in any rush to get a new console soon.

Persona 3 was my introduction to the Persona series too. I started SMT off with a different game that was on PS2 but it didn't leave a good enough impression for me to remember it 😅

@@davidvinc I found a copy of Lunar 1 on PS1 for Christmas and it's very different from the GBA. The cutscenes are awesome and it's version with the soundtrack and making of disc.

Damit David I mentioned something along the line of a sephiroth completely destroys clouds free will in the aerith/Aeris death by actually making cloud do the deed but at the same time sephiroth does the impalement but on tifa at the same time in a FF Facebook.... So if they do three timelines like you mentioned and what I said happens and causes a third timeline I'm well idk how I'd feel about that lol.
Small correction: Eiyuden Chronicle is PS5, not PS4.
Outside of that, I'm excited about most of this list, but still have a ton in last year's backlog to start.
I'm gonna be so preoccupied with Fantasy Life i, the other games will just have to be on my backburner
For me its FFVII Rebirth, Granblue Fantasy, Persona 3, Dragons Dogma 2 and Trails through Daybreak/Kuro no Kiseki. With these 5 I Will have like 500 hours of gameplay.
Yeah, Visions of Mana is a definite purchase. TRUE Seiken Densetsu FOUR, here we come. Should be my game of the year after Triangle Strategy and Sea of Stars. :3

Forgetting that Legend of Mana was actually good and worthy of the SD4 title. Sword of Mana can be forgiven because it was an SD1 remake.
I didn't know GranBlue was going to have a real RPG coming out. Now i'm torn between that and Fantasy Versus, the fighting game. Both look great.😅
Man, I just hope they gib more informations about FFT and Suikoden. Asides from Relink I highly anticipated those two but SO2R released and Metaphor got release window. Haaah.

I don't think the new Saga being on mobile means anything bad really. I think every remaster including Scarlet Grace got mobile ports.
The gacha seems like a genuine success so they make sure the games are available for that crowd is all. Even last remnant!
For games getting a release with a firm date I am picking up Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. For games with just a 2024 release date I'll give it to Avowed which is mostly from the Obsidian pedigree I'll admit. Looking at your list I am really curious about Sandland, Inzuma 11 Victory Road and Visions of Mana. I also plan to get Sea of Stars this year. I know it came out last year but it's getting a physical release this year so...
