Rimsky-Korsakov was such a great orchestrator! This piece of music evokes the frenzy of joy accompanying the arrival of Spring and the resurrection of Christ. Very fine performance. Thanks!
The "Russian Easter Overture" is my very favorite piece of music. Listening to this sublime rendition on Easter Sunday (Western tradition) of 2020, in the midst of the coronavirus crisis, is a poignant joy.
I can relate to your comment. "REO" was one of my favorites when I was just a tyke. Yesterday, Easter Monday I listened to Rimsky-Korsakov's "Scheherazade" by the Orquestra Sinfonica de Galicia (on RUclips). The majesty of the First Movement brought me to tears. I'm not sure why. Maybe it was something in the way the orchestra performers put out those incredible sounds, a bit heroic in their effort, I thought. This is a time when humanity is undergoing a test and real heroism is evident all around us. People are capable of amazing things.
Absolutely one of the best REO's I've ever heard. I would, however, have preferred a lightened stage. I enjoy seeing the joy on the faces of the musicians as they perform. But the music and the performance are superb.
Jerry Stephens I’m pretty sure it’s because they didn’t want the choir standing there to be a distraction, so they had to dim them down. And unfortunately they couldn’t help it with the winds and brass too!

One of the best renditions I've heard of this. Well done! (As an aside, I like the atmospheric lighting.)

@@VassBTb One of our favorite orchestra pieces!
After hearing the reverb-starved poorly filmed Gergiev performance, this comes as a breath of fresh air.
Bravi to conducter and players!
Thank you for the kind words!

+Jerry Stephens Thank you very much for the kind words! Yes, we wished the lighting was better too. Will make sure to improve on that next time.
