It was just the weirdest day that day. I thought of you the whole time. Farmers everywhere are having such a difficult time because of the weather, but especially flower farmers as their product can be hurt so badly. I hope you didn’t get much damage. Thanks for sharing your flower life.

I don’t mind the snow in the spring, it doesn’t hurt the ground crops. It’s more tedious this time of year.
I do worry about the blossom buds on trees. Hoping this was our last snow of the season! 🤞

I totally agree - people don't realize what we flower farmers do all year and the conditions we do it in. Not to mention losing crops to weather!

Advice seems all over the place for ranunculus harvest stage. What stage do you harvest yours? And would you cut at different stages depending on the market?

The earliest I will cut them is when the green bud petals have peeled back and the bloom feels like a marshmallow (similar to peony). But you can cut them later, just not earlier. A lot of growers wait until the bloom has opened and closed at least once, but I prefer to grab them just before the bloom opens. I’ve gotten them at both stages from the wholesaler.
