I feel it like every single day , we miss this motivation! Ive already almost passed away two weeks ago and now im a hundred percent into my dream ! Thanks steve for the lesson , life is a small passage , so enjoy your ride ! “There comes a time , in a short life , turn it around , get a re-write “
I remember the first time I met Steve, I stopped and was talking with Adam Billinghurst up at Whistler, he starts telling me about this young ripper, sure enough here comes Steve riding some insane line down some steep rock face, just making his own line where there wasn't one, He pulls up next to us and has this huge shit eating grin on his face and laughing, I'd see Steve often at Whistler and when he signed with Evil I saw him even more, I was down in Australia at Canberra helping with the World Championships, I was working with the teams getting them sorted out in their pit locations, Steve shows up with the European Evil mechanic brothers , he looks up and sees me, he gets that big grin on his face and this look of amazement that I was there, we had a good laugh. I think the last time I saw him was at our race in Port Angeles. Such a great guy, he would brighten a room with his presence. I feel bad for his mom, she is such a great lady and awesome mom.
Yes his mom is a unbelievable great human beeing. I was trying to get in touch with her, because i am a huge Stevie fan since ever and asked her if i can purchase some merch. She make it possible and i bought a Longlivechainsaw hoodie, cards and stickers and so on and she send it to germany. I was overwhelmed. And miss Stevie so much. Greetings Marc
Still not over the loss of one of the best bikers there has been. Didn't care about the money. Rode for the buzz, and for the enjoyment, not for the fame on fortune. Model sportsman, fantastic personality, stunning human being. Ride in peace Stevie! Enjoy it up there with Kelly mcgazza!
Us Vancouver Islanders are so pumped to have had Steve represent the coast, and now we are struggling with the loss of such a rad dude and great role model. Not just a model rider, but a model human. He was always pumped when we saw him and this video shows he appreciated every minute of his life and what he was able to achieve. Even though he lived a larger life then most, he is still gone far far too soon. RIP Chainsaw.
You were; and still are my hero. Your 2013 overall was celebrated in the G1 mechanics room at the base of Whistler on a little 13 inch tv amongst friends. I wanted so badly to be like you. In EVERY way. There are so many that miss your influence. I’m just one. LONG LIVE CHAINSAW
I've been away from mtb for a while and found out today Stevie passed in 2016, hit me pretty good. I remember first learning about him in the segment where his mom shuttled him up to the top of the mountain over and over. What a great dude. Thank you for making this tribute and RIP Stevie, Thanks for the never ending stoke.
God speed Stevie Smith. The world will miss you dearly, especially your fellow Canadians. Thank you for inspiring so many and giving so much to the sport we all love.
I had the privilege riding in the park dedicated to Steve in Nanaimo and it was amazing. The person I wont forget was a three year old girl just burning up the track. I'm sure there will be some world class riders come out of there. And I think I met one.
Knew nothing about this happy soul, and talented athlete, until I happened to watch the Long Live documentary the other day. Seems like an incredibly genuine and humble guy, the polar opposite of so many pro athletes and celebrities these days. What a breath of fresh air! Gone far too soon, but it is heartening to see the inspiration, and infrastructure, he left behind in his part of the world. I actually got my first FS mtb bike, and first mountain bike in ~20 years, recently. Passed on to me by a friend-of-a-friend...and its'a Devinci. I come from a road and cyclocross background, so knew nothing of modern mtb bikes. Gotta say after learning about Stevie and seeing his joy in riding...I feel like a little kid riding a "cool" bike;) I hope his mother and sister and friends are all able to carry on and live well. His mentor dude...wow, that guy was so thoughtful and insightful and incredible. Just a regular looking dude, by guy is clearly a buddha of some sort!
This video fucking kills me. Dude was one of the few top pros who seems to genuinely have fun just being on his bike, win or lose he's still riding. Too young man, it just isn't fair. We all need to get out and ride more and just have fun.
The first time I heard of Stevie Smith was in a segment of one of my Collective dvd's. I remember his Mum ferrying him up and down a mountain. She said she used to wait for him at the bottom but then he used to end up waiting for her to drive down as he'd got so fast. RIP dude
Honestly hit every single feel in my body. What a champion of the sport and greatest man to look up to. Stevie you will be missed beyond words... RIP Stevie
Ride in peace steve, I will ride remembering the true legend Steve Smith... I watch this video over and over and it makes me wanna cry we lost such an amazing person this day that the world will never forget
One of the biggest influences in biking and downhill for me, had the privelidge of meeting this man and watching his race multiple times!❤️ true legend will always live on! Ride In Paradise dude🙌 #LongLiveChainsaw
I followed his career from the time he was in the first Collevtive video with his mom , same age as my son , as if I knew him personally I miss him ........ rest in peace Stevie ,long live Chainsaw
Its been years but only feels like just yesterday, man I miss this legend, I never really watched downhill that much but it was always awesome to see Stevie ride, he only rode because he loved it, not for the fame, money, or anything like that, just because he loved it. Hope he's shredding it up there in the sky, Ride in peace dude.
2023 y aún recuerdo ésta leyenda, cuando esté en copa del mundo con el team davinci , volveré a éste video y agradeceré por motivarme cada vez que lo he observado, descansa en paz Steve ❤️ long love chainsaw 💯❤️
When I watch this before I go to bed every night it makes me happy to see his face but sad when it sinks in again that he’s gone RIP Stevie Smith Long Live Chainsaw
I can't do anything but watch this video again and again! Thats one of the best mountainbiking vid i've seen. Its hard to believe stevie is gone. But we will remeber him. Thanks rob for the sick edit, and ride in peace stevie!
This video makes me incredibly happy but i have a hard time not getting choked up thinking about how such a great life was cut tragically short, but at least i know that he lived his life as well as he could have and was doing what he loved up until his last breath. Thank you for making this
I new to the sport, just got myself the Stevie Smith tribute dyedbro kit and thought I'd find out abit about the guy. Be nice to know ive got abit of this dude riding with me. What a guy !
Stevie was a huge inspiration to many and of course he continues to be after his passing. Legendary rider and genuine good guy. Not in it for the ego. Just for the love of riding. So fucking sad.
Been thinking about this guy allot with whistler crankworkx coming up. Honestly gonna miss seeing you there this year Stevie rest in peace. By far the best downhill rider there will ever be. Long live chainsaw💪🏼❤️
hes gone the right way... its better to have a short life, that was full of fun and an inspration to others, than a long boring life. thats what is all about.. living your dreams and follow your heart. anyway its unfair, wish his family and friends only the best and enough power
Thanks for such an awesome vid. I can't stay away from it. I'm just wondering if anyone knows anything about the guy in the red cap at 2:39? Every time I watch this I can't help but imagine how Stevie's death must have broken him at his soul. Would love to know if he's doing OK?
Thanks! That's Gabe Fox, Stevie's team manager, he was hit hard by the news but has done so many fantastic things to commemorate Steve since, he's an absolute saint.
Thank you so much for the info. Both he and Stevie seem like such great blokes. I've always hated it when terrible things happen to good people. If you ever speak to him let him know there's a stranger in Australia who hopes he's doing well. And thanks again for the great vid. Bye.
@@RobParkinVideo Hi Rob, I'm sure you won't see this as it's 7 years down the track.
