I remember when Chalkzone first came out I felt like I had seen it years before, but I could never point to when I saw it before. Now that I know it had a pilot that aired in 1999... It all makes sense!
I remember watching this as a kid!!!! I was always like “Why don’t I watch it enough?” But nickelodeon ALWAYS put it in ungodly hours when us kids are asleep, ughhhh glad you made this video Chalk Zone needs to come back!
i used to watch this show with my sister before she passed away when we were kids. strange yet nice feeling to remember it today. definitely one of our favorite cartoons then :)
I use to think drawing a circle on a board would let me into the chalk world . Let’s just say I was disappointed as a young impressionable five year old
Back before the only show they would air was spongebob I would always get up at 6 am and watch any cartoon that was on. Invader Zim, My Life as a Teenage Robot, Mighty B, Danny Phantom. You name it, I've probably seen it
“Nickelodeon treated it like their high school girlfriend right as they’re about to leave for college” OOF that hit a little too close to home but made me realize that I love and appreciate this show even more
This was the show that made me love chalk. My favorite character from this show was, and still is, Snap. I wished we could have seen that character arc for Snap. It would be so heartbreaking. It would have been a good lesson for kids though; its okay to outgrow your old friends and make new ones. Or like, it would have been even more heart breaking if Rudy had drawn a chalk version of himself to stay with Snap.
That definitely would have been interesting to see in the show. It’s heartbreaking, but it fits. Your second idea of having Rudy draw a version of himself to stay with Snap is definitely heartbreaking and interesting, and I like it. It’s a good arc to have and explore
Honestly, for the dud of a show it was, "Wayside" had one of the best theme songs ever. Too bad the show sucked (I really wanted it to be great too as I loved the books). Also, "My Life As A Teenage Robot" and "Danny Phantom" had great theme songs.
This is literally nostalgic. When you pointed out how late Chalkzone used to come on, it brought me back. I used to remember staying up watching through those nick sitcoms just to watch Chalkzone then go right to sleep as that would be my last toon for the day.
They should end this series like they did Invader Zim: A huge TV movie to finish off the series. Like they could use the series ending thing you mentioned for the plot
i literally LOVED ChalkZone growing up and whenever i mention it to anyone, they're always like "?? what's that?" ..makes me a little sad that a gem like this one didn't last long.
I remember when this show aired me and my classmates would draw on the chalkboard and erase our drawings so they could be free and happy in chalkzone, what a great show
I have a limited memory of this particular toon and hearing that they held this particular show hostage for years before the first season even released might explain why I can only remember the theme song instantly but nothing else.
When I heard that Nick was bringing back a lot of their older shows like Invader Zim, Rocko's Modern Life and Hey Arnold, it gave me slight hope they would at least revive ChalkZone, which has always been my absolute favorite NickToon. Then again if they DID revive the show who's to say they're gonna forget it like they did the show all those years ago
@@tedmonson the show's mentioned above. Although, it's worth noting that they're not getting "rebooted" per say, but getting a made for television movie. I silently hope that if they get popular enough they'll get actual reboots
Hey, i want to honestly thank you for making this video. This show, like many of the cartoons from the 90's and early 2000's was a fabric of my life growing up and to see it again, after ALL these years is amazing. I probably only saw the first season, and maybe some of the second, but i never knew it ran 4 seasons and that the writers had a finished arch in their back pocket. It's all quite fascinating, so thank you again!
Nickelodeon Philippines always aired this show at awkward timeslots too. 3pm was bad for its target market (rich kids with cable tv) because its was school dismissal time and students are still in school waiting for the schoolbus to pick them up or going home.
I remember "Chalkzone" was aired in a certain local TV channel in the Philippines back in 2000s. It was originally aired in English but later dubbed in Tagalog. It was such a good show and I found out that one of its special episodes "The Big Blow Up" was aired there earlier before the US.
Nickelodeon just seems to be one giant case of mishandling creative property. The only place I’ve ever really seen benefit from being under Nick/Viacom was like... Neopets. And that petered out already. Though in fairness they made Neopets pretty great for a little.
They, along with another show about the same general premise (kid draws world, has friends he created there) which I can't even remember the name of all aired around the same time period (if not the same slot) on YTV here in Canada, and as a kid I assumed they were related, or at least had a lot of difficulty distinguishing between them.
I see chalk at walmarts, grocery stores, dollar stores and every art shop ive ever been to in Canada... kids on my street made an elaborate chalk hop scotch just the other week
Netflix better be watching they would make so much money if they brought this show back from the dead and got the og creators/writer's to make the true ending they wanted to make Its like printing money you just gotta put the love and support on it
I remember waking off a liquor and weed binge in the early-2000's and seeing Chalk Zone made me frequently think I was still on a drug trip. Most of the shows on the kid's networks in the early-2000's really screwed over my head.
I agree with ALMOST everything you said, but liquor and weed is not a “drug trip” but I will not deny that it is very close . And I never woke up to this show when I was younger(not young lol), I always would fall asleep to this show around 6:45 AM, not WAKE UP to it, after a Long drug filled night/morning and i promise you that the weed and alcohol was not the thing that made me or any of my friends have a “drug trip” , lol and yes the shows on the kid’s networks in the early-2000’s really screwed over my head as well haha. 1 LOVE PLAYA - glawktawk

So I study math at university, and pretty much everyone in the mat department still uses chalk. Like every department still uses chalk boardsn occasionally, but most prefer white boards, or just using a projector. But math is still done primarily with chalk.
I've really never understood that, especially because the reasons everyone else uses White Boards go beyond the practical into the basic accessibility issues. I remember watching Chalk Zone all the time when I was little. We have this glass wall in our shower, and I always drew things on it whenever I was taking a shower or bath in hopes of it coming to life like in the show. I remember drawing little people and making them houses and stuff and tried giving them things to make them happy so that once the picture faded, they would still have a good life. It really gave me a huge creativity boost.
Dawww.
John Stonik Unimaginative Asshole
Hahah
@John Stonik Ever heard of dolls and dollhouses? I was seven or something at the time. Some people actually have a big imagination lmao
John Stonik K troll.
god I would "KILL" to see that series arc with Rudy Growing Up and moving on from Chalk Zone it would of been a sad/happy end to the Series.
Fuck that
I’d use Chalkzone as an adult lol
_alternate title, an_ All Grown Up _done right_
They showed it in germany...atleast I think so because I think I got a little memory of this ending...
@@liljuice2357 Unless you dreamed it up. Then again, for many years I thought I "dreamed up" that episode of The Proud Family where Oscar Proud got stuck in a smoking TV, Suga Mama asked the little boy messing with Oscar "What are you doing watching this scary show?" and then when Oscar was on a channel he liked, Trudy changed it to a channel where Oscar was being chased by a bull (I think) and he was speaking Spanish. I LOVED this show as a kid, but never understood until now why I barely ever got to see it on TV. Even in the limited times I managed to get to watch this I still have such fond memories and feelings towards it
If Nickelodeon had to pick a cartoon to represent themselves, they would choose fan boy and chum chum
I bet they would love that
What’s wrong wit fan boy and chum chum

I remember when Chalkzone first came out I felt like I had seen it years before, but I could never point to when I saw it before.
Now that I know it had a pilot that aired in 1999... It all makes sense!
I wasnt even alive lmao
Exactly I felt the same way lol

That's What I'm Saying I Grew Up Watching This But That Theme Song Is One Of A Kind Man That Shit Slaps 💯
You’re pulling memories out of my brain I forgot I had
OMG THE WHITE EYED DUDE. SO HE WASNT A SLEEP-DEPRIVED FEVER DREAM I HAD WHEN I WAS A BABY. HOLY SHIT ITS REAL
He is Jenny. He is.
To this day i have never forgotten the "put the lime in the coconut and shake it all up" song they did in chalkzone.
Me too
Ah yes, the cure to the love disease
Oh shit you just made me remember that for the first time in years 😂 I had completely forgotten this show existed till now
The Muppet Show did it _long_ before they did.
Dude same
I like how he sounds like he's choking every time he says chalk
To me, it just sounded pompous.
I cant stand it

I remember this show, I thought it was so awesome. No wonder I always felt like I only saw like 10 episodes of it
“Best theme song”
Danny Phantom wants to know your location.
nahhh its chalk zone or jimmy neutron
Nope, thats Fanboy & Chum Chum
🎵 *Rudy got the chalk* 🎵
Chalk Zone is better
Hey Arnold wants to know your location.
I remember watching this as a kid!!!! I was always like “Why don’t I watch it enough?” But nickelodeon ALWAYS put it in ungodly hours when us kids are asleep, ughhhh glad you made this video Chalk Zone needs to come back!
A day later: "I can't believe Robotboy existed"
NO, JACKASS! *BOBOT BOI!*
i used to watch this show with my sister before she passed away when we were kids. strange yet nice feeling to remember it today. definitely one of our favorite cartoons then :)
I loved Chalkzone as a kid, but only the first two seasons. I didn't know it had two more seasons before its cancellation.
I watched season 3 and 4..but 4 was weird
WHAT!? We missed out on a cool and satisfying ending for Nickelodeon's tomfoolery!?
Damn shame.
I use to think drawing a circle on a board would let me into the chalk world . Let’s just say I was disappointed as a young impressionable five year old
Do you still believe that kind of stuff can happen?
Maybe you just have to draw a more perfect circle?
You need a special chalk for that.
Jas I knew it wouldn’t work... but I dreamed
Back before the only show they would air was spongebob I would always get up at 6 am and watch any cartoon that was on. Invader Zim, My Life as a Teenage Robot, Mighty B, Danny Phantom. You name it, I've probably seen it
“Nickelodeon treated it like their high school girlfriend right as they’re about to leave for college”
OOF that hit a little too close to home but made me realize that I love and appreciate this show even more
Thanks to Nickelodeon, I completely forgot about this show until now. Thank you for this!
No clue why youtube recommended me this channel 2x in my feed but, liked and subbed!

"best themesong in television history" didn't know this was a danny phantom video
Hey, Arnold! - Aw, that's cute
aahh Danny phantom
Honestly, for the dud of a show it was, "Wayside" had one of the best theme songs ever. Too bad the show sucked (I really wanted it to be great too as I loved the books). Also, "My Life As A Teenage Robot" and "Danny Phantom" had great theme songs.
Kappa Mikey, Making Fiends, Danny Phantom, My Life As A Teenage Robot, Catscratch etc had great theme song for Nicktoons.
@@100mesmerized9 Making Fiends had just about the worst music... Idk what you're talking about with that one. But the rest I agree.
They coulda made a killing just selling chalk straight up after this show aired, damn shame
King Ugly yeah seriously, I think they're idiots for not doing that
@@anthonyfox585 I think prices actually increased during the airing of this show. Too bad they went back down after.
This is literally nostalgic. When you pointed out how late Chalkzone used to come on, it brought me back. I used to remember staying up watching through those nick sitcoms just to watch Chalkzone then go right to sleep as that would be my last toon for the day.
No lie, Chalkzone was my gateway to writing fanfiction.
For me i started writing little comics and stuff omg I loved it 😭
They should end this series like they did Invader Zim: A huge TV movie to finish off the series. Like they could use the series ending thing you mentioned for the plot
IMO, the original ending sounded more bittersweet than the ending to Toy Story 3.
When I'm in elementary, I always draw a big circle just to see if the chalkzone portal would open. XD
i literally LOVED ChalkZone growing up and whenever i mention it to anyone, they're always like "?? what's that?" ..makes me a little sad that a gem like this one didn't last long.
Nick didn’t revive them, Netflix did.
What did Netflix revive exactly?
Nickelodeon reviewed it but then decided to distribute it through netflix
@@tedmonson the show's mentioned above. Although, it's worth noting that they're not getting "rebooted" per say, but getting a made for television movie. I silently hope that if they get popular enough they'll get actual reboots
When will we be able to watch those on Netflix?
Hey, i want to honestly thank you for making this video. This show, like many of the cartoons from the 90's and early 2000's was a fabric of my life growing up and to see it again, after ALL these years is amazing. I probably only saw the first season, and maybe some of the second, but i never knew it ran 4 seasons and that the writers had a finished arch in their back pocket. It's all quite fascinating, so thank you again!
idk why but in the Philippines school started @7AM so I would wake up to watch this show as I prepare for school.
I would watch it when I couldn't sleep most of the time because I was sick
Chalk Zone was amazing and I wish more people remembered it!!
Every time I watch your videos I'm surprised you don't have more subscribers. The quality really shows.
I appreciate that!
Nickelodeon Philippines always aired this show at awkward timeslots too. 3pm was bad for its target market (rich kids with cable tv) because its was school dismissal time and students are still in school waiting for the schoolbus to pick them up or going home.
Yeah, at midnight. lol
For me If I wanted to watch the show I had to wake up at five in the frickin mornin😤
I remember "Chalkzone" was aired in a certain local TV channel in the Philippines back in 2000s. It was originally aired in English but later dubbed in Tagalog. It was such a good show and I found out that one of its special episodes "The Big Blow Up" was aired there earlier before the US.
I hope for a Chalkzone revival movie with the college plot
That would be live.
No they would have ruin it
Nickelodeon just seems to be one giant case of mishandling creative property.
The only place I’ve ever really seen benefit from being under Nick/Viacom was like... Neopets.
And that petered out already.
Though in fairness they made Neopets pretty great for a little.
Viacom hasn't owned neopets for a while. It's barely hanging on now
That's because Neopets is owned by scientology. They keep it alive.
Fuck neo pets. It's not worth the sacrifice.
I was about to sleep. It's 2:30 AM. But when I see ChalkZone, I CLICK CHALKZONE.
You do an amazing job of evoking emotion when talking about these shows. It brings me back to when I was a kid and watching these shows.
Wait 'til I tell you kids about Harold and the Purple Crayon.
The Original Gamer omfg
I thought that was a fever dream
Dude this video made me remember that show but I couldn't remember the name! Thanks!
Please, I need that back in my life, it was so calming at night for me
*HA!* Nice.
I used to watch Chalk Zone with my kids and enjoyed it. It reminded me of Harold and the Purple Crayon from my youth
They, along with another show about the same general premise (kid draws world, has friends he created there) which I can't even remember the name of all aired around the same time period (if not the same slot) on YTV here in Canada, and as a kid I assumed they were related, or at least had a lot of difficulty distinguishing between them.
Damn can't believe I forgot about this show thx for this throw back
I’m an assistant English teacher in Japan and we still use chalk and chalkboards 😅
I see chalk at walmarts, grocery stores, dollar stores and every art shop ive ever been to in Canada... kids on my street made an elaborate chalk hop scotch just the other week
chalk zone & bob ross are the main reasons i was into art as a child :/ (and its the career i eventually followed)
Bob Ross was coo as fuck!
Does chalk still exist? Yes, the entire math department at my college uses exclusively chalk boards except for in the lab rooms.
Mine too lol. We still have it in some of our labs as well
Drawing integrals with chalk and drawing integrals with dry erase markers are two entirely different sensations.
Netflix better be watching they would make so much money if they brought this show back from the dead and got the og creators/writer's to make the true ending they wanted to make
Its like printing money you just gotta put the love and support on it
Also remember how zim(another very beloved nicktoon that got screwed by the network) is getting the new movie released on netflix.
If netflix decided to bring old Nickelodeon shows back and continue them I would start paying
This show was hidden from my memory! I’m glad you made this video‼️
Of all the Nicktoons that deserves a Netflix special, Chalk Zone deserves it so much.
I always loved this cartoon but never understood why it was so hard to catch. Thank you. I'm at peace now.
I remember waking off a liquor and weed binge in the early-2000's and seeing Chalk Zone made me frequently think I was still on a drug trip. Most of the shows on the kid's networks in the early-2000's really screwed over my head.
LOL .
Should watch it on shrooms, or lucy
I agree with ALMOST everything you said, but liquor and weed is not a “drug trip” but I will not deny that it is very close . And I never woke up to this show when I was younger(not young lol), I always would fall asleep to this show around 6:45 AM, not WAKE UP to it, after a Long drug filled night/morning and i promise you that the weed and alcohol was not the thing that made me or any of my friends have a “drug trip” , lol and yes the shows on the kid’s networks in the early-2000’s really screwed over my head as well haha.

@@glawktawk Mixtures more than straight. Mixed each with each went from there. Be up until god knows when and pass out over and over until you have a migraine that's close to a locomotive banging your back door. Some people consider booze to be a "drug" so more like getting drunk and high. Younger days. Haven't touched snuff in a decade but the occasional drink is bound to happen. Being sober is a joke after you've drunk your way through junior high and through your twenties.

I literally only saw this show during the 6am slot when I was eating my breakfast before school..... am I that rare breed? 😂😂
I remember liking the show as a kid but rarely ever being able to catch it because it came on at the weirdest times

i loved this show so much when i was a kid, i didn’t understand why i didn’t see it on tv as much as i wanted. it makes me really sad seeing how nick treated the show all those years :(
All the TV networks killed off their good shows in the early 2000's
Disney AND Cartoon Network were especially guilty of this. RIP Dave the Barbarian, Green Lantern the Animated Series, etc
I loved Chalkzone soooooo much, I just rewatched a VHS we had recorded of the double-length special The Big Blow Up (which had yet another catchy musical sequence) and it reminded me how desperately I wanted to have my own imaginary world to escape to as a kid. Hearing about how much this show got shafted, it’s very likely that I never saw every episode.

So I study math at university, and pretty much everyone in the mat department still uses chalk. Like every department still uses chalk boardsn occasionally, but most prefer white boards, or just using a projector. But math is still done primarily with chalk.
You've got to feel the math in your hands. That's the texture that chalk gives that white boards just can't match.
I've really never understood that, especially because the reasons everyone else uses White Boards go beyond the practical into the basic accessibility issues. Everyone uses whiteboards for the same reason basically every institution has rules against cologne/perfume, but parts of Academia are weirdly superstitious and traditional.
Chalk zone was the SHIT MAN. I LOVED IT.
I remember having to wait around 1-2 pm to watch avatar the last Airbender live. It sucks it was on late but it makes sense now nobody will be up so early
