The reason many people don't talk about Puskas is he came from an era where pretty much everyone who was old enough to remember him is dead. A real all time great and perfected the striker position before anyone else.
Luckily for the kids these days that don’t know him fifa has made him famous again! But the people that don’t play it and just watch Messi and Ronaldo don’t know him
Fortunately for me, my grandfather was an avid football fan who lived through the eras of Puskas, di Stefano, Eusebio, etc., and thanks to him I knew of these legends.
Don't take that top ten list of all time serious. There are tons of great players who have been forgotten (to the mainstream) that deserve to be on that list.
Puskas had an outdtanding career and is definetly the first goal scoring machine we've seen in football. Imagine his prestige if Hungary won the 54' world cup. He'd easily be recognized as a top 5 player of all time🇭🇺🐐

Puskas’ partnership with Alfredo Di Stefano was one of the best striking duos of all time. Obviously, I wasn’t alive to watch them, but I’ve heard many stories and the stats don’t lie.

Real Madrid TV shows some long highlights of big Champions matches from the late 50's and 60's so i saw some of those games and Real leyends like Di Stéfano, Puskás, Gento, Rial or Kopa play. Di Stéfano was the total player and not a single player in those matches stands a candle in front of him, is like he came from the future compared to the rest.
Speaking football with war conflict There are interesting stories that tied both of aspects. First Kiev death match This real event had some fiction seasoning in it due to lack of records and evidence. So basically it was about Ukraine footballers (FC Start) had a match up against the German troops football team (Flakelf FC). Now, this is the part of the fiction, in the halftime FC Start won 3-1 and there was a tale that a Nazi officer entered FC Start locker room and threated them if they didn't let German side won they would got punished or executed. In second half the german side had catch up by tying up the score 3-3. But at the end of the game the Ukraine side won by 5-3. This story itself become the symbolism for Ukraine as a fight against Nazi oppression. And about some players who got tortured or executed was still a mystery that was it affiliated to the football match or was it affiliated with their political ideology that tied to USSR. Ps: if you guys (especially Ukrainian who know more about this) found out there are some wrong information, I am very pleased for your correction. Second Christmas truce football In 24th December 1914. Both side, British and German soldiers agree to had a truce. The battle of trenches was paused for a moment to celebrate Christmas, both side singing and exchange some items like foods, clothing and of course some liquor as Christmas gift. The event was wrapped up by a football game on the no man's land, and guess who won the game. German won 3-2 from the British Third Ivory Coast national team stop civil war. Another story about football that unite people. In 2006 civil war was occurred in ivory coast. But in the stadium their national team fought for World Cup qualification. Yeah, the German team was good, but definitely the Hungarian team was much better, maybe the best team EVER. So it was much stronger, definitely the weaker team won. It was very unfortunate. Tha rain, the German shoes, Puskas' injury (it was on purpose of course but not because of the final), the German musicians in the last night, the two very hard games before the final (Uruguay, Brazil). Before a German goal Grosics was attacked clearly, and Puskas' offside goal was not offside, they say, the referee just hated the Hungarians. It was really a miracle. 1 in 10 or 100 matches. (Hungary was undefeated for 6 years except for this)
