This kid in my 10th grade chemistry class worked at a computer store and gave me a bootleg of this game in 1996. I could not get past the three stooges brigand part and asked him to come over after school to get me through it. We ended up going to junior prom together, then senior prom, and yes we’re still married with a beautiful gamer son almost 30 years later!! Who knew that Sierra games tough puzzles could facilitate a love match? 😂❤ I love watching your videos and reminiscing about our first “date” 2:45:36
Best series of games. I got the first back in the 80s, i spent many days trying to figure it all out with typing commands (I was 7 and there was no internet.. there was a guide book that came with the game but it was coded and you had to have a red piece of plastic in front of the page to read it so felt like cheating). Then played it sooo many more times, until I randomly found the anthology in a circuit city and I screamed, "THERE ARE THREE MORE?!". Must of played this series (1-4... I hate 5, but I did only play it for the first time a few years ago on a steam, and only beat it twice.) like 50,000 times. I've made fighters with all skills, that was fun (They didn't really prepare for a paladin that could steal the drum in 3, but 3 was so buggy when it came to the competition throwing a spear through a ring that I just found it easier to skip that and steal the damn thing). And Always got chainmail on every character in the first game, because it transfers over through all the games and is the only way to have a thief or mage in chainmail
Yeah the Simbani trial thing could be pretty glitchy. Ha I guess many of the games could; I just did an entire playthrough of the series for the channel with a magic user, didn't do anything remotely Paladin like, and at the end Rakeesh gave me Soulforge and made me a Paladin anyway. Good note on the chainmail, btw. I just liked the protection, didn't know it was that helpful for subsequent games.
Love the QFG series with all my heart! I usually play a thief with magic skill. At the beginning of the game you can put all your free skill points into one skill that's at zero. It unblockes the skill (otherwise, you are unable to use and therefore train zero-level skills). A thief has several skills and unlocking them all is impossible in qfg1. However, choosing a thief class + adding magic lets you have every skill in the game and experience both the rogue quest line and use the spells that certainly add a lot of charm to the gameplay! Pity you still cannot participate in wizardly quests (WIT-university in qfg2, magic duel in qfg3 and faerie queen fight in qfg4). Well, you cannot have everything at once... Also, never missed the shield, sword and chainmail. I've usually maxed my fighting skills on goblins and other critters and managed to easily fight off T-Rexes with my trusty dagger throughout qfg1-3😂
Good call. Yeah the first time I did this game on this channel I did it with a multi talented thief like you mentioned. Heh some people gave me grief for that arguing you have to do a 100% thief run, no special abilities, but it's just fun having that in your back pocket. And yes you are correct, you have to declare to be a Wizard by those games to do the specific stuff especially in the later games. I like how every game has little hacks here or there to get certain stats up, T-Rex fighting is always reliable as mentioned.
@@LetsPlayWithBrigands For me this "soft" multiclassing is part of the appeal of the game. Like in real life: you have a certain path and prerequisites, but you are free to build yourself up from there:) I also loved that in Hero-U they allowed rogues to study "magic for mundanes" classes. Just recently installed this game for the first time and wasn't disappointed: the spirit of qfg lives on! Thank you for your channel btw, it's great to relive some moments of these games 🔥
@@LetsPlayWithBrigands Wow thats awesome. How are you still able to play these games, i thought they were long gone and unable to run on modern computers.
For the Steam and GOG versions I believe it's roughly the same. Save the character at the end of QFG1, locate the QFG1 folder on your system and you'll see (whatever name you gave it) .sav, cut and paste this file in the QFG2 folder and it should be there when you try to import.
Have you played Heroines Quest? It is a fan made game and it shows. The Heroine looks pretty much like the hero in Hero's Quest. And you end up fighting a frost giant at one point.
I played about 30 minutes of it once on a livestream at someone's request. I think I starved to death because I didn't know the mechanics. It seemed pretty interesting; I'll probably get to it someday.
I have all stats maxed out and even when I dropp everything from my inventory I still run out of stamina trying to defeat this asshole... Damn it's frustrating... I'm clicking like crazy... Is there a secret in mechanics? Do you use keyboard? I would really appreciate some help, lol... cheers
The minotaur are we talking? I BELIEVE I used the keyboard, probably the 9 key to do those thrust stabs on repeat because once you get just the right opening on it, you can basically stun lock him. If you have full stats it shouldn't be an issue with that technique but hopefully it helps since I know you can't run from that battle to pound a potion.

That is a perfect story! Ha and I'm glad something good came out of that needlessly complicated timing part with the three stooges.
Old is gold
Agreed, in this game's case certainly!
This game is how I discovered Let’s Play With Brigands!!!!!
I definitely owe a lot to this series. It's extra rewarding considering it's one of my favorites of all time.
Me too
Heck yeah, more Quest for Glory
Awesome! Looking forward to the other games!

bth you can actually have a chat with Erasmus being a thief. However, you cannot play that boardgame he loves cause you miss the Dazzle spell.

True, you need a certain number of spells to qualify for Mage's Maze and get him to prompt you.

"The service here is great."
Yeah, except when Shema gets fur in the food...
I'm willing to bet that place is overdue for a visit from the health inspector.
Can you interact with the purple and gold log in the middle of the woods? Always wondered why it looked like you could.
Good call. Might be able to look at it for a slightly different response, but nothing beyond that.
Was this remade with the updated style. Never saw it like this until the 3rd one.
Yeah this is the remake of the EGA, animated like the 3rd and 4th games in that VGA style.

Liked video and shared on Twitter
so how are you saving from Quest for Glory and able to import to game 2? When I try it, it doesn't work.
For the Steam and GOG versions I believe it's roughly the same. Save the character at the end of QFG1, locate the QFG1 folder on your system and you'll see (whatever name you gave it) .sav, cut and paste this file in the QFG2 folder and it should be there when you try to import.

Definitely get that vibe.
