Got a 2003 monte carlo and no crank. Had a bad bcm so replaced that and figured I'd replace ignition switch just in case it was causing the ni crank. No power to the crank relay from ignition switch but starter will start the car for a few seconds until it dies because I can't relearn the key with the new bcm. Any idea as I just want it to start and keep running either from the ignition switch or the crank relay?
Hey man I have a Buick rendezvous with the gm 3400 I was wondering if it works for passlock 3? I was told I have to have an adjustable resistor to find out the exact ohm to start it. But I’m so close to trying it please reply asap
Yeah ive seen this fix a number of years ago when my car wouldn't start .. mechanic put in a new fuel pump .. not the problem 😕 .. it's the sensor in the ignition key assembly that senses whether the key is real .. the problem is so well know by GM they even included a section in the owner's manual telling you how to reprogram the ignition system instead of correcting the problem ..
FYI, These systems only have 3 components, but those components together can cost you more than $1,000 at the dealer to replace. They are: Key (with Chip) - $80 to replace Lock Cylinder (with sensor) - $350 to replace Theft Deterrent or Body Control Module (TDM or BCM or by other names) - $700 to replace. This resister bypass only bypasses the key and the lock cylinder and not the TDM, so if this resister bypass doesn’t do the trick, it may be your TDM that’s faulty. Just an FYI.
Will this problem cause a NO Crank start problem. Since the starter; battery & cable connections & relay were all checked to be good. I don't have a security light on, but it won't crank the starter. 20:29
Usually it should still crank the engine with this particular pass lock problem …if there’s a way you can check to see if the starter solenoid is getting 12 bolts when you crank the engine..I’d start there….it’s the small wire on the solenoid you are checking for 12 volts
Yes all kinds of issues. ibhave 2004 grand prix and ive had it running perfect 2 times and some times with out dash lights other times a check engine but every thing works. i thought it was starter nope the key isnt reading all the time and its fucking the theft computer up. ive spent hours fucking with it and 3 ignitions cant all be bad and when it come down to it just plug the scan tool in and see that when in any key position it will not communicate

It should only be that 2.2k ohm resistor for all those passlocke

Is there anyway to bypass that?

If you have a chipped key, it’s pass lock 3. Pass lock 2, the transponder is in the key cylinder and activates when you turn the key
