      I actually pinning a screenshot on screen to reference it when working in say Webflow or something, or seeing what a Thumbnail might look like in RUclips next to a search. LOVE pinning, so many use-cases. Learned you can even change transparency of the pinned link, which was a way I could match color grading in Figma images as well (you can pin, lock, and make somewhat transparent, and just move the sliders to be identical to the pinned image). It's super cool!

    We looooove CleanShot X! I feel like they should just drop the "X" already though. Great overview showing off all the features-everyone should watch this video before purchasing CleanShot!
    The wild thing is, I don't think I could go back to Windows for work solely because I wouldn't have CleanShot anymore (Arc too), but CleanShot would be SUCH a bummer, CloudApp doesn't compare to it in any way (what I used to use on Windows). CleanShot should literally come pre-installed on Mac devices.
    Oh, P.S. and it's pronounced "GIF" not "GIF", hope that helps 😏

      I totally agree. It's the app that Mac is missing by default. I love how it fits seamlessly into macOS that it feels natural. Game changer.
      I knew I should have said GIF instead of GIF... sometimes life is hard 😂

    Very detailed tutorial. I bought with your affiliate link to show my support for more tutorials like this.

    Also, do you or anyone reading this have any idea how to set Hotkeys to Hide Desktop Icons?

      Oh that would be an interesting tutorial to make. I'll consider it. Is it for a particular use case or just in general?
      I don't know if Mac has a hotkey by default for hiding desktop icons. That said, there is a setting in Cleanshot X under General called "Desktop Icons: Hide while capturing." Is this what you're looking for?
      Are there any other software or tutorials you would be interested in seeing next?

      @@pauldittus Just in general for the URL Scheme API for exposure on what its capable of doing from the surface. From here, we’ll have a head start to exploit the further potentials.
      I’m referring to the manual trigger under the menu icon. There is this Hide Desktop Icons on the dropdown list, but i couldn’t find where i can assign a hotkeys under the CleanShotX Hotkeys setting menu. Im thinking is there any workaround on this to assign the hotkey to it.

      @@limtc3453 Nice! That makes sense. It is pretty amazing what you can do with URL schemes.
      Ahhh that makes sense. So you can set it in Settings --> Shortcuts --> General --> "Toggle Desktop Icons:" then select "Record shortcut". After that, you can set it to whatever shortcut you want (e.g. Shift + CMD + H). I might actually use that shortcut now 😊

    very curious to see what the camera overlay looks like when recording a screen? I teach online courses and want to look for something similar to zoom in that I can share my screen, have my video feed and I can annotate on my slides. Can this do it? Can I adjust the size of my camera relative to the sign of the screen recording in post editing? Thanks!

    • @pauldittus
      @pauldittus  7 месяцев назад +1

      Great questions. So the recording capability is probably similar to Loom where you can move the video during recording but then it's set in place afterwards. Post editing doesn't allow you to change the size currently.
      Another tool you might want to consider for high-quality screen recordings is Screen Studio. I used it to film this video in fact. I made a video about it here: ruclips.net/video/aE-3NbUkwZU/видео.htmlsi=TgF3apbulwIXF7qr
      Screen Studio does allow you to Zoom into an area on the screen in post and this decreases the size of the camera video. You can set the size and location of the video on the edge of the display (e.g. a corner or top/bottom).
      Let me know if you have any questions. Happy to help.

    Hello, thanks for your good video. Is there a possibility, to open the clipboard? Is this the clipboard from the Mac or does cleanshot x got his "own" clipboard? Do I´ve to use a third party app (e.g. "paste" ) to manage paste objects or is this possible with cleanshot x?

    • @pauldittus
      @pauldittus  9 месяцев назад

      Great question. So I believe you are able to copy by default by changing the settings when a screenshot is taken. Cleanshot has a history of screenshots taken that you can access. You can set it various length of time to save. I would suggest watching the part of the video where I show the settings to get a better idea. Let me know if you have any other questions.

    The scrolling screenshot is great if you merely want to view (say 10 pages of capture) on your screen - you can enlarge the view. However, how do you print it out so that you don't get a single page composed of multiple tiny "image" of the ten pages?

    • @pauldittus
      @pauldittus  8 месяцев назад +1

      That's a great point and a very practical use case.
      I tried it just now, but I'm not seeing an easy way to convert to a PDF or a format that would be more easily printed. I would suggest asking the team at CleanShot to see if either they have a solution or can add it to the roadmap for a future update.

      @@pauldittus The cursor looks like it was edited in in post production. The smoothness and clicking animations are cool, but they do not sync with the selections on screen. I feel that if I were to be interested in screenshot software, I am only going to watch a 30 minute video if I am an amateur trying to get into blogging or something. Even less relevant to me is the fact that this is for OSX. Even even less relevant to me is the fact that this software is paid. My first impression is that this software is flashy and modern only for the sake of it. It will probably be end of service within a year and is made to appeal to people who don't know how to use alternative software. This video would be great if it was my first time using a computer and I had $500,000 in my bank account to buy something that has the perception of quality as opposed to having a deep understanding of the core principle which is capturing and editing screenshots.
