    Thank you Gary for another great tutorial! Would like to add that you can (in markup) make an oval into a perfect circle by shift-clicking. In addition, with lines, you can likewise shift-click at the end of any line and constrain it to 90° straight up, 180° flat, or 45°. It also works to resize the object, as long as it is selected (it has dots all around it). You have also saved me Adobe’s annual subscription fee because Preview is built in to macOS and iOS products for free. Keep up the good work!

    Unfortunately saving an annotated screenshot to clipboard is a PITA (I'm on 13.2). The right-click Copy doesn't work, Share menu doesn't list Clipboard as a possible target. Why is the capture feature always underdeveloped and full of annoyances in all OSes?

    • @jimbland8341
      @jimbland8341 Год назад +1

      Yep agreed, This is why I came to this video, to see if saving to a clipboard with annotations was something I just didnt see or was not possible, I dont like having to go to the file, just to paste it. Also you Can Ctrl - C the image, but it does not have the annotation, which is stupid.

    Where I'm confused is in Finder I have the Documents folder in my Favorites section. But it also appears in the iCloud section farther down. Is there an advantage to getting in the habit of using one or the other to access a file?

    • @macmost

    HI GARY -- A QUESTION: 🙋🏼‍♂️. Can you do a video and explain in Apple notes after you have taken a scan of documents how you then export the scan from the apple-note scan out as a PDF. Every time I go to hit the share button it says "fetching"? It then just freezes there. And I have scanned many documents including my taxes into Apple notes but when I need to export them as a PDF I can't figure out how to do it? Thank you for all the great videos! 🙏

    • @macmost
      @macmost  2 года назад +1

      If your goal is to have a PDF, don't use Notes at all. Just use the Files app on your iPhone and scan right to a PDF. For something already in Notes, just drag and drop the item from the note to a Finder location on a Mac.

    • @LJ-jq8og

    • @LJ-jq8og

      @@macmost Gary: I must be challenged I did not see how to do either technique. FILES app does not have any option to scan ? Also, tried dragging to the scanned image from the note to finder and did not work either ? I must be a true luddite ! 😳

    • @macmost
      @macmost  2 года назад +1

      @@LJ-jq8og See ruclips.net/video/XPw5DGfDnF0/видео.html to learn how to scan. Not sure why you are having trouble dragging. What if you just double-click the file in the note? Does it at least open up then?

    • @LJ-jq8og
      @LJ-jq8og 2 года назад

      @@macmost Gary I watched the video you suggested. It was excellent. My mistake was I thought I could scan with an iPhone into Files alone. I didn't realize I needed to also have the MacBook there too for this particular scanning technique . So I'm good now on how to use a MacBook and an iPhone together now. Thank you very much! 🙏 I will use that technique going forward. On your second question: when I click on the note the note opens and then it has a scan image which I need to also then click on to open. However, It does not allow me to drag and drop successfully. If then double click on the scanned image itself it opes at a very high resolution. Again: it will not allow me to successfully drop that anywhere to become a PDF. At least I have learned how to make a PDF scan directly to my Mac and I greatly appreciate that Gary 🙏❤️

    How about a scrolling window capture?

    • @howardlevinger4571
      @howardlevinger4571 2 года назад +1

      Do you mean capturing a scrolling (in motion) screen in any app, or do you mean screenshooting a portion of a web page or all of the page? There are answers to both, if you can clarify.

    • @macmost
      @macmost  2 года назад +1

      Not something built-in. But for documents you can always export (or print as) a PDF to get the whole document. For a web page, see ruclips.net/video/fEXxnGxcj6I/видео.html for some options.

      @@macmost Thanks. Just watched your other video on this. I do have Snagit but it was sometimes not grabbing the pages all the way to the end and would sometimes clip last few inches. The Developer mode and Firefox will try when Snagit fails. Snagit is better when it is a public page but sometimes I have pages that are only visible when I am logged in so snagit doesn't work w/the one method they have. It does work with the scrolling arrows but just has that bug where it isn't grabbing the last bit of some pages.

    • @howardlevinger4571

      @@teamvigod In iOS 15.4.1 while in Safari (iPhone and iPad), pressing the side buttons On/Off and Volume UP at the same time, creates a screen shot of the portion of the screen captured, BUT at the top of the screenshot, there will be two tabs: Screen and Full Page. Touch "Full Page" and it will save the entire web page. You can mark up the page right there. Then, when touching "Done" it will give you options, like "Save PDF to Files" and "Delete Screenshot". In the Mac, you might consider File>Export as PDF, then save to wherever you like. Beyond that, please click on Gary's link further up in this conversation for a much clearer description of screenshoting using the Mac. Hope this helps.
