I just adopted a California desert tortoise way cool ! But I think I’m done because now I have three russions two Indian stars in my beautiful desert tortoise I think that’s enough for me for now lol
Always nice to see how all the critters are doing. Had a first-time revelation... my 1 and 1/2 yr old daughter sat still on my lap watching... she was riveted to watching all the turtle action! 🙂 Cheers!
You can tell all your chelonians are very well taken care of. They all have perfectly smooth shells so they’re obviously receiving sufficient amounts of (natural?) Vit D. and excellent diets. I’ve kept most species you currently own except for Sulcatas (space constraints) and Mountain Tortoises. I also currently have a few of the more delicate/arid species (Star & Leopard Tortoises.) They are way less tolerant of high humidity, are subject to respiratory conditions and require very specific captive husbandry perimeters to thrive. My Stars bred for the first time this spring (after 15 years!) I think everyone knows Charlie Moorecroft either personally or thru YT. He does amazing work with various species and owns my “lifer” species; Vietnamese Black Breasted Leaf Turtles! I’m sure you know all the other “heavy-hitters;” Maurice Rodriguez, Chris Leone & Kenan Harkin. Your channel just came up in my YT feed fairly recently , nice to meet someone else seriously into the hobby! 👍🏻
Thanks for sharing, Greg. Is your Mountain tortoise Brown or Black, and how long did it take for it to grow from 4" to that size? Also how does it do outside on the coldest winter days, do you bring it inside at a certain temp?
I have 1 Hermann, 2 red-footed, a bunch of box turtles & 5 aquatics. They all have different personalities. Glad to see a new video.

Black. Took around 6 years to get to this size, but I don’t push growth and since we have a winter, growth is seasonal. I bring it in below 35 F
